GoDaddy Discrimination

GoDaddy is a discriminatory company.
By releasing only US and Canada promo codes they are discriminating customers from other countries.
Asked them about this situation, but they can't give me an answer, only "you are using an expired or restricted code".
I really liked GD, but now it is changing into a piece of "excrement"...

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.com cost GoDaddy $7.85 to evil Verisign + $0.18 to ICANN + all the extra operational costs

Now you are complaining because there is a scarcity of $.99 or $2.95 coupons?
You can't be serious, right? :)
Those were gifts most probably not intended to us.
And because someone gets a gift, we shall claim no rights or whatever.
I'm just very pleased I could use 1 or 2 of those coupons, and I'm in EU not US.

You said racist, not discrimination. I dont know who changed your post but I have a screen shot of it because I couldnt believe someone would actually label a COMPANY racist
I was wondering about that racism. Since USA & Canada are countries built and populated by immigrants. I may be mistaken but i think half of people who live in America right now (and might be a Godaddy customer) are from India or Mexico. Even Barack Obama is from Kenya.

Steve Jobs is from Syria.

I think after that Groupon thing, Godaddy has become more cautious regarding the usage of coupons. Earlier i can use various coupons for 7.67$ .Net renewals but now the max downward limit is 8.67 which is 1 $ higher. I think they want to recover the loss they incurred from so many 0.99$ coupons that too clubbed with Groupon offers.

If you really want a stable registrar with stable pricing + free whois privacy then my recommendation is Internetbs.net or Namesilo.com

But from all this we cannot say they are a racist or even discriminatory company. They have Rs. 163 new registration coupon for Indian customers plus now they are also providing option of NetBanking payment which is a boon for those customers who don't have Credit Cards. Not only this, they also have local Indian support now. How can you call them discriminatory now?

Oh, it's an online thing maybe. The Internet has since given some people the so-called power to say things even if they're not necessarily accurate or true, although it's often an expression of one's feelings about something.

If anything, this thread is yet another reminder of an all-too-important thing for some (if not all) of us: to hopefully think before to post. Hopefully.

If they want to issue geo-specific promotions I have no problem with that - plenty of companies do that.

But it is not a good customer experience when you try to complete a transaction and it won't go through, and you get a message saying to ring the company in question. It looks like it could be some kind of malfunction or even a scam. I'd prefer it if they just told you that you can't use that coupon outside the US - but I have never got a message like that from them, maybe now I can see why they would choose not to do that.

Exactly, if GoDaddy could just be a little more clear about all this, it would be much better.

I understand that coupons can be geo-specific, so that's all fine. But it's hard to even find normal coupons that work in the Indian GD version. Currently i'm paying nearly $15 for .com whereas earlier i used to pay $8.67 (besides the occasional $1, $2, $5 offers).

This is quite a huge difference IMHO.

cant believe the question - "does common geo market segmentation tactics mean racism/discrimination" - being seriously discussed here

marketing basics, happen all the time in nearly every market, nobody complains..

why it needs to be different with domains? probably because domainers' main concern unlike other business entities' is how to be losing less money instead of how to earn more..
