The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I just got both a $1.17 reg and a $1.17 transfer by using this code:

gofah084

(Don't know if I could have gotten multiple regs or transfers at that price, or if it won't work if you've used another $1.17 code recently.)

What the f. is wrong with Godaddy. I am trying to pay with credit card using the sm code. I even rounded up for charity so that i have 2 dollars total. Still this....

Unfortunately, we are unable to process your purchase using this form of payment. Please utilize another form of payment, or contact (480) 505-8855 for further assistance.

I am in Germany and don't want to call by phone and spend 2 extra dollars for tel.

Is this crap new?

I have the same problem. Not only when trying to use the sm codes but also when doing normal transactions, e.g. a biz transfer (with preset coupon) to Godaddy.

Have written a ticket to GD support - no answer. Forwarded to my personal guy - no answer. Does Godaddy want to ban his non-American customer base? EDIT: Godaddy responded to my inquiry now.

:'(

I'm wondering why godaddy issue so many cheap registration codes these days. Maybe they are trying to achieve a target before the end of 2012

Wow, I'm pretty certain I used this code earlier this year. Just tried it and it worked (again).

If you think you've used this code in the past you may want to try it again

My theory is this:

if you notice - godaddy really didn't offer any black friday specials that whole weekend...
they were smart... they let EVERYONE else do it.

..so..

.. once everyone else ran out and registered 'x' amount of names at all these different registrars - godaddy sat back and waited...
and THEN they dropped the hammer offering a multitude of coupons that were good for transfers..
... meaning, all those shiny new names that we bought in all those other registrars - got transferred back over to godaddy.

If any of you were smart, you probably bought a new name at some registrar for like $0.99 - and then transferred that name to GD for $1.99 (or $2.95)

GD gets to hold the name as fluid equity - or if not - they own the name when/if they drop - sell at auction for more money... and we get two years of registration for $3.00/$4.00

Everybody wins BUT the other registrars
.. which is really ok with me when Register, and NetSol..etc want to charge $40 to renew that dot com.

Brilliant!!
:)

That sounds like a fairly plausible and brilliant strategy indeed...

GoDaddy is certainly very strategic with their promotional activity... All to gain long term customers.

- - - - - -

I don't see how you could transfer a domain out right after registering it?

the transfer doesn't actually take place until after the 60 days..
... however - you can still purchase and submit the transfer

once the 60 days is up - the transfer automatically begins

.
.

.. you're welcome

Nice logic, but unless those promos work for 60 days, then goodluck transferring the names out. Let me know how it goes :)

I had no idea this was possible. Have you tried it before? I thought an order gets cancelled if not processed within a certain number of days.

If it is possible, then that is going to come in very useful.
