Over the weekend there were a couple posts about Domain Lists, and which Domain Blogger put out the best.

ElliotsBlog has a poll going right now

A couple commenters posted they were sick of them or don't like them.

So instead of voting on who you think is the best.

Do you like these domain lists or do you dislike them ?

My feeling: if one doesn't like them, then just ignore them.

I like the lists and appreciate the work that goes into them.

I have acquired some nice domains via various lists.

Thanks to all who create them.

:)

I don't care either way. I don't go out of my way to check them out but if I come across one I'll glance at it. Generally I don't get much use out of them and have registered maybe 2-3 domains off of lists from the past 4-5 years.

They 'sometimes' can be advantageous in finding a name you didn't see or know of. The blogger(s) I like, I'll click the link and proceed to buy or not accordingly. The others, I copy and paste and proceed to buy or not accordingly.

I don't like them. I don't like the short lists because they bring attention to some domains and I don't like the long (copy and paste) lists as they are everybody's waste of time.

They sketch me out for some reason. I think even if I seen an awesome domain on one of these lists I would be very cautious before buying. I feel like why would someone post a great name that they could've just registered themselves. Plus most of them are junk IMO

Will probably because not everyone writing them is looking to reg every domain and some probably don't reg many at all.

Or they just hide the ones they like.

Well that's common sense right ? I am sure Shane Cultra is not bringing more attention to a name he is interested in, but if other bloggers are doing their job they would have it in their list.

No, it's not common sense to me. When you say you are making a list of the best names then you are supposed to deliver just that.
Otherwise the list should be called: "Best of the domains I don't like. Probably they are worthless or too expensive for me."

The lists never say these are the only good domains. And as I said if Shane keeps one off someone else should find that if its that good. The lists are going to keep coming because there are people making money off them.

The lists say they have the best domains their writers could find.
When you hide a couple of them then you don't have a list.
You have something else.

I know lists are going to keep coming. I just don't like lists with a personal agenda.

I think most guys do their lists as names I like, I have never read Bill or Shane say these are the best they could find. I don't read any other blogs list so I don't know about the others.

Sorry but I don't understand. Are those lists of the worst domains they could find?

By the way Bill's and Shane's list are called: "Best of Godaddy Drop Auctions" and "SHANE’S BIG LIST". Best and big.

I don't understand, how does BIG mean these are the best. Shane has always told people he does not put names on the list that he is looking at.

Bill uses words like Gems and I don't think Bill really regs any so he probably is giving you what you want as I don't think he bids on any auctions.

First of all Bill says "Best of". I don't know what Bill does. Maybe he bids maybe he doesn't. I haven't read anything about it.

Second, I just read in a comment Shane made (not on his blog) that he hiding the domains he likes. Maybe he has mentioned it in his blog too. But when I read his or any list I assume that all good domains are there and not hidden. If there is no disclaimer explaining that on every post then this is just dishonest.

I am going to ask you again. Are those lists of the worst domains they could find? What is the point of doing a list that does not have the best domains? (Best of the write's taste of course.)

Otherwise the list should be called: "Best of the domains I don't like. Probably they are worthless or too expensive for me." or "List of mediocre domains I don't really care for but you should buy so I make money".

Shane has many times Dvd on his blog said that.

Bill today has Tuesday’s Godaddy Drop Auction Gems 10-2-12

Best of the rest means the rest of the list that he compiled.

I think sometimes one might not put a name on there that they like and it might only have personal meaning to them like plants names for Shane.

I don't have to read every post Shane has done to read a list.
If there is no disclaimer explaining that on every post then this is just dishonest:

Bill's Monday post:
Best of Godaddy Drop Auctions for Monday 10-1-12

And it seems that you playing with words. Gems and best etc.
And you don't reply to this:
I am going to ask you again. Are those lists of the worst domains they could find? What is the point of doing a list that does not have the best domains? (Best of the write's taste of course.)

I will gladly reply to that DVD, first off who is saying what is the best ? I read lists and sometimes don't think some names are good, the writer may have thought they were the best.

The best names don't get overlooked imo. If Shane had his eye on an LL.net he might not list it but there would already be a lot of bids so I don't think anyone is missing that, and certainly Bill or TNT or someone else would have on their list.

I disagree with your premise that "List of mediocre domains I don't really care for but you should buy so I make money". There are plenty of times the names are not mediocre.

I will only reply the first one with a quote because you don't seem to read what I write (and I don't know what a DVD is):

What is the point of doing a list that does not have the best domains? (Best of the writer's taste of course.)

I will gladly reply to that DVD, first off who is saying what is the best ? I read lists and sometimes don't think some names are good, the writer may have thought they were the best.

Also this is not a collective list or community blog. Every blog is separate. I don't have to read every post in order to find what good domain each of the blogs are hiding.

The best names don't get overlooked imo. If Shane had his eye on an LL.net he might not list it but there would already be a lot of bids so I don't think anyone is missing that, and certainly Bill or TNT or someone else would have on their list.

I truly don't understand what you are talking about here. What premise? I said that IF writer's DIDN'T make lists of the what they consider best domains then the lists SHOULD be called "mediocre". This is a hypothesis.

I disagree with your premise that "List of mediocre domains I don't really care for but you should buy so I make money". There are plenty of times the names are not mediocre.

Isn't DVD the first three letter of your user name ? Sorry DVDRIP.

Who is to say they are not the best in that writer's opinion. I don't think the bloggers are holding back names every day.

To your last point, I like tv.com related names. If I did a post and left out a tv.com related name, more than likely it would not be on anyone's list of "BEST" but it would be a name I like.

I normally would just let this go as I have no need to defend myself but I thought there needs to be some real info behind the accusations. (This is Shane by the way)

First the easy one, Big is a word to quantify size. Big is relative. I use the word Big because I thought it was a good title. Anything more that's read into it is personal and has nothing to do with me.

Second. Plain and simple, I put names on my list that I think can be bought and sold for more later. They are not always the best names. Some are obvious, I realize that. Some are pushing it, I know that as well. I am making a personal judgement call and it's OK to not like them. Over the course of the week I can guarantee someone somewhere saw a name that they did not see in their scan. Rick Schwartz even wrote a post about a domain he considered his buy of the year that he found only through the list.

I have written the post every, single, day for three years. For two years before one penny was made from affiliate program (by the way, everyone who gets Namejet affliate money owes me because I was a driver of that program and if you don't believe me ask Matt). I write the list because I scan the list every night for hours. I figured I might as well put down the names that I thought were good and share.

Now to answer the "hiding". How in the hell can you hide public information? Not publicizing is correct, hiding? Wrong. I buy a grand total of 3 or 4 names on Namejet a month....at most. Last month I had 5 names that I would have put on the list that I didn't. I bought 2. One was All Green Lights dot com. The name of my new company. You want that one? So out of 500 names I posted I kept 5 off the list that I would have purchased.

I find it funny that I am one of the most open and honest bloggers out there and this guy has the audacity to say I'm shady. I share everything. Many things I shouldn't. I have absolutely nothing to hide and put everything I'm thinking and doing into written word.

So DVDrip you can like or dislike lists or my lists, I don't care. But if you want to accuse me of something that is not true I have an issue. I work hard at everything I do and my results are always somewhere in between pathetic effort to brilliant. Rarely touching the two extremes. People that claim either are either lackeys or naive. I am going to put you at naive

YOU said they are not the best!

Even if they hold 1 domain every month, I don't like it and they should have a disclaimer so they are honest to their readers.

This is coming from the same man that said he doesn't do list and then next post is a list from Namejet (you took it down because you looked like an idiot). Arguing with you would be like two monkeys screwing a football. You have your opinion and it's not going to change. I'll keep doing what I'm doing and will continue to enjoy the success. We'll meet again
