Here is feedback from first two submissions:

Opinions.
Boarder with leaf pattern
Like
border and the concept of the leaf, would rather a stylized maple leaf.
has a good visual presence from a distance.
Like the crispness between boarder and body.

Dislike

1) has a mosaic look, avoid mosaic anything at all costs, this is not what we build, and we need to distance
ourselves from mosaics as they are the majority of the market
2) Color..... looking for crisp bright red, bold shiny black, clean white.
3) Not looking for the shape of stone" ie pebbles" in the back ground ... try a Slab of Marble, looking for a photo realistic background a product we would use.... not a graphic representation.
4) No cross fading, in the lettering. can not recreate this.
5) ability to have the lettering both inside and out side of the logo depending on size or specific purpose. Could you
show us both

I wasn't going to bias thread but this is what he had drawn up. Wanted new ideas but maybe we can make his idea better?

This was his response from earlier today concerning last 2 logos:

Over all moving away from what we are looking for. We want to be able to create this logo out of tile...this means no cross fading, no tile perspectives, no 3d effects, no fuzzy images. We have base colors in tile as well as natural products like marble and granite.......I am going to send you a picture of each of the tiles we are using this may help. In short we do not want graphics tricks.

That said



This one has some aspects we like. The maple leaf is there ....but lets "unleaf" it a bit a subtle node to Canada not a shout. I am intrigued by the "Inlays" being emphasized as I said we are not a mosaic company we are a inlay company.




This one has far more potential....everything we make has a boarder. it uses no tricks to make its statement ..

I want to see a marble background.

here is the 2nd concept...

The guy I'm doing this for is getting frustrated saying no one is taking his comments to heart. Please only submit based on his comments below. I'm actually doing this for charity and gave one free logo to the top bidder and this person was the winner in a silent auction.

Is there some reason I am not seeing a marble background? I keep asking for it and I am not seeing it at all.



This core design is the base we want used.

Show me the same logo with lettering inside AND outside



A message from my partner the designer......

Specifically and to the point:
Make the background appear to be a single slab of cracked stone/marble !! if you do not know what this looks like go to a stone/tile shop and find out.... this is not negotiable.
We want 3 bold crisp colors, black white and red.... STOP fading them out.
Go back to the early design with the leaf that had the white border, take it and then mix that leaf design with the new one which is more maple leavish..... combine the two (NO INITIALS) and you might find a winning leaf.
Take what is good and work with it..... quit veering off in scattered directions. !!!!

Put the name within the design, keep it crisp (NO SHADOWS) .

@CH: Please provide individual feedback along with designer name. I will make few more designs according to your above post.
