T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Discussion: 2012-2013

It's that time of the year again when I have the pleasure of creating this thread for the 2012 TRAFFIC Auction. :D

Here are some of the domains to be auctioned off:

http://www.targetedtraffic.com/program/2012/domain-auction.php

Some of the names that have been accepted thus far are:

Lot #101 Tumors.com (No Reserve)
Lot #102 Fibre.com ($1 Reserve)
Lot #103 3dMovie.com (Aggressively Priced)
Lot #104 DesPlaines.com ($1000 Reserve)
Lot #105 (Awaiting Signed Contract)
Lot#106 gtldforum.com (No Reserve)
Lot#107 gTLD.org ($1000 Reserve)

These are the runner-ups.

SolarBusiness.com
VirginiaMortgages.com
BrownNose.com
BulletproofVest.com
gtldAttorney.com (No Reserve)
VisitBogota.co (No Reserve) (a .co?? :cy:)
Tumors.net (No Reserve)

Note:

Once we have 100 slots reserved for the Live Auction, and great domains are still coming in, we will select the ones with the very best chance to sell. We plan to sell as close to 100% of the inventory selected for the Live Auction as possible.

Are you submitting any names?

Let's hear about it!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I have TLDForum.net :D

I am getting confused, how to submit domains if it is not too late :red:

Erandi, this year Rick is not using a submission form on the site. The email address which the submission should be sent to, is listed close to the bottom of the page of the link provided in my first post. (Tip: it's a gmail address, so you can use the "find" function in your browser) :)

So apart from 3DMovie.com has any other np member had their domain(s) accepted?

My domains were reviewed in less than 2 mins and were not accepted  Maybe something was missing from my email.
I am very curious to see which domains are going to be sold.

Overall, a bunch of bad names

Stick a fork in it

Domain live auctions have had their day

This auction will be an epic fail
Guaranteed

Truth is, the *Golden Age of Live Auctions* has already passed

I don't think domain auctions are *that* viable going forward

With every passing year the quality of domains submitted gets poorer & poorer.
Most of better domains (notably "moneyness" domains) will have been acquired by end users earlier than the poorer stuff, obviously.

Those names in strong hands aren't coming back to the market anytime soon.

So now you're left with names that obviously no end users have gone for thus far and/or names that need to be developed

Many of the names put forward nowadays might be of value to end users but to domainers - which is the main audience of auctions - they have little "moneyness" which would appeal to them
(unless they are dirt cheap, like 10% on their "theoretical" liquid value).
Stuff that needs to be developed to fulfil their potential etc

I see Tumors.com going for $30,000-$40,000, if that, based off of the auction phenomenon (other competition) more than anything else

A good name, yes. But it needs to be developed.
And a subject with little inherent "moneyness" appeal to the main audience (ie domainers) beyond a certain price point

I agree these are bad names. I think our industry needs to have standardization. I am a newbie however I am very educated and I see domaining is really dominated by very low and low educated people which try to rip one another off.

Although that I am a newbie but have been following domaining for a long time (2000) So I am aware of TRAFFIC and all those other auctions.

We need a huge company or entity to standardize domaining. If you say ICANN no I am not saying ICANN.

I mean an organization that can stop the schill biddings, the corruption and the dirtyness of all these little low no name auction houses that try to rip good hard working people off by getting paid bumping up extensions like .co .mobi and raking in profits for themselves while they are in reality dumping all their own .co's and junk. Enough is enough. Let me tell all those auction houses and POPULAR domain bloggers who bump up names or extensions to make a few bucks by throwing domainers under the bus: "Fool me once shame on you, Full me twice shame on me". Most independent domain auctions are corrupt.

Sorry if I pi***d off anybody.

Lots #101 and #102 have a relatively high value, and lot #103 could fetch a tidy sum if the right bidders are at the auction - the rest are just poor. (bar one or two minor exceptions)

gtldforum.com was selected and I'm a namepros user. Companies are spending big dollars on new gtld and there is alot of general interest in gtlds. we will see how the auction goes, but first time ive ever been selected for such an auction. he must get thousands of submissions so I would think buyers are out there and may buy just because Rick Schwartz picked them. He did make a cool posting on gtld .com's as there are 3 different ones in the auction.

Again, gtld .com domains are probably way early these are most likely going to sell at a real value and at domainer pricing. Hopefully anyone that wants to develop a forum shows up to bid. Won't be open bidding, but people can register for phone bidding.

This year seems to be more selective and hope the auction offers some excitement as there are going to be some great values and some sales. I hope so as live auctions are certainly good for the domain business! Best of luck to any other namepros users that were able to get in.

3dmovie.com is a great domain. 3d is going to be very big and as I'm sure most people realize most major pictures are being released in 3d formats. Congrats! Hope it does well at auction.

What does it mean aggressively priced?

It means the reserve is very low being it a very quality and great 3D domain and it could be a huge STEAL. And dont ask me the reserve please.

@ Webdomain

Thank you. :)

I repeat what I said:
(Overall) It's a load of shit more like an average daily NJ/Snapnames auction (barring a few)

I guess the whole auction sees Total Sales of ~ $150,000, if that ($150-200k).
Which is PATHETIC for the supposed industry premier (LOL) auction venue of the year

Tons of names with little to no commercial value
Tons of reg fee names you couldn't even give away

It says more about the domainer selecter & reflects badly on him more than anything else. IMO

Anyone who paid good money to attend should ask for a refund

All these domainer get-togethers & live auctions are well past their best years
Now, y'all are watching the whole thing on its last legs, with the owner trying to squeeze the last drops from it

Someone put this old senile "Domain King" out of his misery

:bah:

Lots #101 and #102 have a relatively high value, and lot #103 could fetch a tidy sum if the right bidders are at the auction - the rest are just poor. (bar one or two minor exceptions)

Not that many will be interested in Lot 102: Fibre.com - which is the UK (non-US) spelling for "Fiber"

The main attraction is selling it to the .co.uk owner
