If I recall correct what they do is lock you in. You can't transfer the domain or sell it. Or it was something in the lines where you where transferring and they will charge you for the time they had it. Something along those lines. Be careful.

There is nothing like that in the terms of this offer. It's listed right there on the offer page, you're free to read it for yourself. I also don't see a fee for transferring away from DD24 anywhere in their terms or price list.

From their site:

The parking of domains is free of charge. However, the fees for the domains will be charged as of the day of registration.

As non-commercial customer you shall have the right to withdraw from the contract in writing within a period of two weeks and without stating any reason. The notice of cancellation shall be addressed to Key-Systems GmbH, Im Oberen Werk 1, 66386 St. Ingbert, Fax: +4968949396851, email: [email protected]
The right to withdraw from the contract cannot be applied if the customer explicitely requires the immediate execution of the service (e.g. Domain registration, account opening, webspace activation) prior to the two weeks period or if the customer has initiated the services himself.
Furthermore, the right of withdrawal cannot be applied to domain registrations as this service is created according to the personal specifications of the customer and is therefore directly binding.

Sounds to me is like register now pay later. I could be wrong. Again, if you can get a domain for free. Hey great, who doesn't like deals? Just saying watch out for locking. You find a great domain and can't do anything with it just plain sucks.

do you have a url for that? I can't find that text anywhere on their site. In fact, if you google any part of the terms you quoted, the only page result is this one.

This text is visible right below when you presented with the checkout options. You need to accept the terms and conditions. That's why I didn't took one. Is not clear.

I believe the free domain coupon has exceeded it's 1,000 uses and isn't valid anymore.

anyone confirm?

Are you adding the coupon where is ask you for your information or on the shopping cart where the price is visible. Is confusing. I register a domain to transfer it in 60 days. If their is no locks, tricks. I will be able to transfer and get 1 year free. Is not a huge domain so if it gets locked I can just let it expired. But to hell, the UI is so confusing, so 1999. LOL.

that's what I'm getting too. Looks like it was used up already. A few people on my coupon fan page got on, but I didn't get a chance. Too bad really, I was looking forward to grabbing one and giving DD24 a try.

If you trying to enter the code in the field in the screenshot it wont work. The second screenshot should offer you to enter code, since I use it, I guess it won't let me use it again.

But you need to register your account, then once you get your username and password login and finish the order. The domain you selected would be on your cart.

Also Lothos you can see the text I been talking about in the second screenshot.

If you dont like that you can go to godaddy -> "Pay now and never get a domain" ;)
(because it was not available)

DD24 is serious registrar. I would say best one, just the prices for domainers are not so great.

I would almost guarantee those are the companies general TOS. Not specific to the promotion.

DD24 is serious registrar. I would say best one, just the prices for domainers are not so great.

My information was just to warn people of the many marketing techniques out there. Nowadays there is so many fine print, or not clear wordings that can make a deal go bad. I don't have nothing against DD24 never used them before, I got nothing bad to say about them. Except that their wording is not clear, it does not explain every detail of the offer.

If is a good registrar or not, I can't talk about that. This is the first time I deal with them. To be the best you have to beat the best. DD24 might be serious registrar but is not the best. Their user interface is disorganized, confusing, and lack of functions.

The domain I actually did trough the offer is still says awaiting payment, when in the shopping cart it was 0.00. There is no option to switch it or select it to make a CC payment. Searching in the help section was a no go. All the information there is basic information on how I register a domain. They might be a serious registrar but they kinda need to invest more on the customer experience. I have a domain with dotalliance and even they don't have the best UI, they keep it simple.
