Registrars for domainers with over 1,000 domains

Who are you using? Are they fair when it comes to complaints? I'd like to move the bulk of my domains to someone that can tell the difference between a fake spam complaint, a joe job, or other.

With that number of domains you'd qualify for super bulk pricing at Dynadot. $8.50 registrations, free privacy (if you use it). You get your own account manager. It's who I use. Professional service, imho. I've never had any spam complaints, so I don't know how they react, but overall, I'd say they are domainer friendly.

I do have super bulk pricing with Dynadot, and they are the registrar that sent me the spam complaint email. I'm not using them for email. I'm not using them for DNS. I'm not hosting the domain with them. The domain doesn't even have email setup for it, and doesn't have a script that might send email.

No one so far has replied to my request for information.

I have a buddy that works at Afilias. He tells me that their security guy really hates Internet.bs because they don't respond to complaints. I know this is third party, so take it with a grain of salt.

I really like the service at internet.bs, it's a nice clean interface with great pricing and free whois privacy. Been there a couple years now with no issues whatsoever and I find myself moving more domains there as time goes by.

I don't spam or anything, I only send a couple of emails a month. But I think registrars should be registrars, and not the internet spam police. Those complaints should go to the hosting company IMHO.

My host hasn't received any complaints. Another guy recommended Internet.bs to me. I'll take a look.

Another vote for Fabulous. With >1000 names you'd be paying $8.29/.com, $6.49/.net. Two other discount tiers for > 2500 and > 5000 domains. Free whois privacy, extra security measures including challenge-response, USB security key and/or executive lock (for high-value domains - freezes registry settings, can't push/transfer/change nameservers without a manual override under client-specified conditions.) Well-designed control panel, great customer service.

Was also going to suggest Fabulous. Have used them for 7 years and have never had an issue.

I moved 900+ domains away from Fabulous... support sucks, outbound transfers were always failing...

I use all 3. Of those three I prefer eNom, but as I said above my main registrar is Dynadot. So any domains I acquire at these registrars usually get transferred to Dynadot.

I appreciate the responses. I did have an account at Fabulous and may accumulate the majority of my domains there. I've had no trouble with Dynadot the past several years, but I can't take the risk that they'll shutoff my account over some spam complaint that they won't even let me see and won't respond to my inquiries about it for a week.

Fabulous has usually responded to my inquiries within 24 hours, and has to my emails this week as well.

Internetbs.net, one of the best registrars, if not the best registrar, I have ever used.

Wait until you have approx 5000 domains, then it becomes cost-effective to be your own registrar. Rebel also has a registrar leasing program.

wrt avoiding spam complaints, would removing MX records for spare domains be helpful?

Update: Yesterday I finally received a copy of the "spam" text. Rather than "several complaints," this is all that Dynadot sent me.

As you can see, I did not receive the text of the actual complaint, just the text of the spam. There are no email headers, so I can't verify where it actually came from. As I thought, this was likely an email spoof or a [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_job"]Joe job - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] and Dynadot for whatever reason didn't recognize this fact and instead sent a serious form letter accusing me without proper investigation. This could easily happen to you, especially if you own generic or popular domain names.

@cdboard, there were no MX records for my domain name.

namecheap is the best..Whatever you do please stay away from Godaddy :)

I have already received bounces for spoofed mail using our domains so Dynadot should know better.
