The appraisal scam....again. -Name Investment Boutique LLC-Brand Domain Name Services

My suggestion is that Namepros file a UDRP dispute as hes using your name in bad faith, amongst other illegal things.

From: "George Petersen" [email protected]

I'm thinking about 60,000 - 80,000 USD for your domain. What do you think
about this price range?

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain
appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It's very
important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation
company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from
independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal
companies. Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and
buyers:
thenamepros.com/Archive/62931485.htm

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.
If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price
accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15%
discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to
obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire
transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

I'm still confused as to why namepros.com dont do a UDRP on his thenamepros.com domain?

Why do you stand by and allow this guy to use the forums good name for his business scam?

Seriously?

UDRP is not for free and there is no monetary compensation for winners.

appraisal scam

Hello,

last week I got email from a Marc Lorenz from Brand Name Services LLC. He asked for one of my domains, and then that he needs an appraisal before buying. So I did at one of the suggested appraisal services and sent him back the price. But unfortunately his client is ...
So I got sceptical and googled him and his company and found this community namepros.com.
And learned about appraisal scam.
When I asked SWREG for a refund , I got email from Martin Anderson from certifieddomainvalue.com, that there is no refund and that they did a good job, and citates some pleased Phillip. In this forum one can see this is a frequent answer by Mr. Anderson to anyone who claims a refund.
I recommend this post to any victim of this fraud:[namepros.com/639974-another-scam-letter-elite-investment-group-5.html#post3865457

Thanks

If SWREG won't help, request a charge back from your card issuer.

SWREG has forwarded your email to the appraisal company. You need to contact SWREG directly and explain to them the details and links to this and other threads here. Try that before contacting your credit card company if you have that option. Good Luck!

I got one of these emails today regarding a domain I put on SEDO yesterday. - I replid suggesting he take a look at this thread - hi Marc Lorenz!

Things that made me suspicious:

1) The impersonal nature of the email - if their software can put a domain name in the subject, surely it can put one in the body of the email.

2) The company/ name is crap and the company name doesn't match the domain name (there is an s missing). Brand Domain Name Services LLC vs brandnameservice.com.

3) A professional company wouldn't bypass the safety, on both sides, of SEDO.

Suspicions raised, a quick google brought me to this thread.

As I understand the scam, they show interest in your name, but require you to get an appraisal which costs you money. Marc Lorenz is somehow affiliated with the appraisal company or owns it directly, thus getting a cut or all of the domain appraisal fee.

Cunning. I wonder how many are caught out ... I expect it is quite a few.

Mike

Notice how copy-cutter the letter is. He didn't even mention the domain he supposedly wanted, referring to it only as "the domain in the subject line." That's a tell-tale sign he's a scammer.

Same for me, it's my first experience selling domain, but fortunately for me I'm experienced enough as Webmaster to see this. (also SEDO)

That's the first message I received (Wonder How comes, only 12 hours after and no mention of SEDO)

Here is the sweet and simple answer.

"You have my permission to get an appraisal on any of my domain names at any service you choose".
