What's the highest price you've seen for a domain listed at a (well known) domain marketplace?

How about this one

NoURL.com for $44,061,200 at BuyDomains - also listed at sedo for $16,777,215....eeeek

Owned by BuyDomains, its got traffic according to compete.com but its not exactly a category killer ;)

Seen any higher ones?

BuyDomains is notoriously famous for placing outrageous prices on so-so domains.

I just picked up an LLLL .net domain for reg fee, which is still listed at $250,000 and couldn't even get one $69.00 bid at Snapnames or Namejet.

Too funny for words.

that is ridiculous pricing for that domain, but excellent marketing by BuyDomains, the start high to give the impression that this domain is premium.

Yeah, its not a big deal, I could list ksdf120123jwqe.com for 1 gazillion dollars on sedo...

True, many domains are listed for outragious prices at several marketplaces..

Just the fact that a large company like Buydomains uses ridiculous pricing puzzles me. Asking decent 'enduser' prices would generate a lot more sales for them instead of scaring buyers away..

No you can't on sedo, only certain partners can.

"Listing prices may not exceed $10000 USD without an appraisal."

or £10000 which is more ;)

@ Ms Domainer

Do you feel $242,000 richer yet? - If only it was that easy eh :)

Oh, I didn't know that.

yes, GD is that way also, there is a limit on the asking/selling price unless you have an appraisal or specialized account.

People lack credibility when they have an eBay complex, such as Buy Domains, i keep getting emails from them with an urgent message in my afternic account, only to find its my two domains i sold 2 years ago they want me to move registers to upgrade to premium sales or some BS.

Funny this is I cant even delete the domains from my account because they "are sold", No shit Sherlock.

Maxeaus I get the same emails all the time. There never is a new message there. There system stinks imo.

@msdomainer that's funny, asking $250,000 and you got for reg fee. Good luck with the name.

I used to see a lot of MichaelJacksonwewillneverforgetugreatesthitsnumber1cd.com's on eBay for million dollar plus. I just LOL'd hard and wondered if anyone ever paid more than reg fee for any of them.

$154k maximum, thats the one I witnessed though I've heard of much much bigger transactions.

The fact that a huge marketplace like BuyDomains has such outrageous and out-of-the-world prices not only hurts its reputation, but the entire domain industry's too. That's one of the reasons why the mainstream media don't take us seriously and sometimes even call us squatters. The industry should boycott such deprecated behaviours.

Yea a lot of domains are wayyyy Over priced, especially the "premium" domains that a lot of these sites like go daddy have listed. Most of them aren't even premium domains. But I guess people buy them...

Unless things have changed you have to pay for an appraisal for anything over $10,000.

BuyDomains is overpriced on all of their names. They believe in charging end user prices for all domains..Even domains like that which will never wind up in the hands of an end user.

I bet their domain registrar loves them from all the renewals on useless domains though :)

Some people which is on the domain name for money, if they registered a good domain name, although not sell as you said so much, but absolutely will not less, and I think this is a big loophole for the website.

Though I am involved in this business (not entirely but still at some quality) I do not understand paying that much for just a usual domain name.

I'm not justifying the prices on BuyDomains.com, but keep in mind that quite a few of the domains on there are owned and priced by other people - Not nessecarily BuyDomains.com themselves.

In this case, NoURL.com is owned by BD. BuyDomains is listed as the seller on Afternic.com. Price is reduced to 9,974,800.00.

that is very odd....

just trying to get attention
