I was born and raised on Staten Island, and it hurts me to read the list of friends I grew up with who were murdered on 911. My friends were mostly fire fighters, just doing their job, trying to save the lives of others who were burning alive.
I feel your pain, KingDon. It is always hard to lose friends and relatives, especially in such a pointless way. There is nothing to justify that carnage. But revenge isn't the answer and solves nothing. If they infect people with their hate, they already won, even if killed one by one.
but this fueling for revenge is not theirs, it is ours, and it started on 911.
This started long before 911, and will not end with Osama gone, that's for sure. If you want to get rid weeds, you don't pick them, because they will grow back. You have to use a hoe to dig out the roots.
If they had taken him alive to put him on trial can you imagine what a circus that would have been?
This is not an argument against trial. We are talking about USA where the sense of justice has been always strong. The country may suffer weak dollar, economy sunk in crisis or poor finances, but justice is still strong. No matter if someone is ordinary man or president, in court he is equal and judged appropriately. And now what happened? Terrorists are not equal in face of justice anymore? They can be tortured, killed and kept in secret concentration camps like some rats without a sentence? I find this really danger because it creates 2 sets of rules and as a result undermines faith into justice and human rights as they are. If he got judged and sentenced, that would be a good example to the world and proof that justice is equal for everybody, no matter how big villain. Remember, even Nazis had they trial after WW2, and they had killed millions.
This is a spiral of hate. Once a country starts using terroristic methods to eliminate terrorists, it lowers at their level. This cannot be broken this way. The true Al Qaeda are not just leaders. It dwells in minds and hearts of people who got sucked into that spiral. It cannot be destroyed even with nukes. The only solution is to understand the sources of that hate and try to find a medicine to that. Did you ever think of it this way? Why the heck they hate USA so much? When this actually did start? Why Osama and his people turned against their own allies? So, here go the questions to be answered. They are not easy questions but if someone really seeks a solution to that situation, he must find answer to them.
