Does anybody know anything about miniescrow.com ?
They offer domain escrow at 2.5% fee.
Please share your experience, I don't know if they are good or not.

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Used them once this weekend on Saturday, so far so good. I was the seller, got paid with masspay the same day and the buyer got the domain pushed to his account the same day.

so their using paypal as their merchant service, how does this protect buyers from buying stolen domains?

Based in Romania. No contact info other than an email address.

In regards to PayPal mass-pay. It's safer in the aspect that the funds must come from the user's PayPal balance; can't be credit card funded. However, PayPal mass-pay is reverseable in the event of fraud; can be held.

For some reason a bunch of posts in this thread providing details about MiniEscrow were deleted. Strange!

Addendum ... just did a little more research.

Don't walk, RUN away from this service.

forum.aa419.org/viewtopic.php?t=43175 :: View topic - miniescrow.com

And for those questioning whether they really had the BBB logo up - sure looks as if they did, since the BBB image still resides on the MiniEscrow.com's website.

To the extent that MiniEscrow allegedly was passing-off as Escrow.com and using the BBB logo in an suspicious / unauthorized manner.

Personally, if people still choose to use MiniEscrow, more power to em. I don't have a horse in this race. Just providing info.

That is shameful, I will not deal with a company that uses such methods.

I recently looked into what it takes to start up an escrow service, and it cost between $100 000 to $500 000 US

It was started by the same team behind BeyondDomaining.com and
the new Domaining 2.0 domain blog aggregator -Domaining20.com.

Nope, it was started by yours truly (some of you probably know me as the owner of Billion Dollar Media, Auctionpus and DomainingTips). I have initially posted a little bit about myself and my businesses as an answer to a question asked by another member but all of those posts have been deleted (more info can be found at the end of this post).

The mod who deleted them asked us not to post anything about other websites in this thread, as such posts would be considered off-topic. While I don't agree with this approach, rules are rules and they need to be respected.

And for those questioning whether they really had the BBB logo up - sure looks as if they did, since the BBB image still resides on the MiniEscrow.com's website.

The programmer originally used it as a placeholder image and forgot to delete it from the server. We're not a US-based company, so any affiliation with the BBB is out of the question for obvious reasons.

For some reason a bunch of posts in this thread providing details about MiniEscrow were deleted. Strange!

There was quite a bit of drama on NamePros after the thread got deleted. Here are the cliff notes:

1) dotboy started the thread and 2 people (if I'm not mistaken) asked questions (legitimate questions, in my opinion) which a moderator thought were off-topic (questions such as "who owns this site?"). As a result, the moderator deleted this thread.

2) I did not agree with this decision and started another thread in order to ask what happened

3) the moderator and I posted our opinions, then we agreed to disagree on pretty much everything but the thread was reinstated (only the first post remained intact, as the other ones were considered off-topic by the moderator)

In order to avoid such problems again, the mod asked us to follow certain rules:

A) all of the posts need to be about MiniEscrow and the experience people had with this website, so nothing about other websites (I personally think that questions such as "does anyone know who the owner is?" are legitimate but the moderator did not agree)

B) no links to other websites should be posted in this thread

Do I agree with these rules? No, but it's not my/our forum, so we need to respect the decisions of any member of the mod team.

Apologies for confusing you with the BeyondDomaining & Domianing2.0
folks.

What I wanted to relay was that MiniEscrow was not a fly by night operation.

Thank you tricolorro, we appreciate your contribution to this thread.

A NamePros member (Domagon) has posted a link to a thread started about MiniEscrow.com on a forum not related to domaining a short while ago. Please visit that thread again and you will notice that we have dropped by in order to make the necessary clarifications, the administrator of that forum has changed our status to "legitimate".

As tricolorro has mentioned, MiniEscrow is anything but a fly by night operation and as of this point, you guys can use this thread in order to post your experience with us.

After reading the thread and following the (short) mini-controversy around it, I decided to give them a try, in order to be able to report first-hand. I have no previous acquaintance with the owners. So I can now report about my first-hand experience.

I had the perfect candidate domain name: I had just accepted this week to sell a .WS domain name for the price of $300 to a Russian enduser. Obviously, escrow was needed, but neither the buyer nor myself did want to spend a lot of money on it, so MiniEscrow was convenient.

I entered the domain name as seller in MiniEscrow interface on Monday evening. I asked a question in the seller's interface, that was answered about one hour later.

Some 12 hours later, I received a notification that the other party (the Russian enduser) had confirmed the transaction.

By Tuesday afternoon, I received a notification that the enduser had paid, and requesting me to push the domain name to MiniEscrow account with Dynadot (the registrar for that .WS name).

I pushed the name on Tuesday evening. 90 minutes later, I received the payment on my Paypal account. I noticed a small mistake (the full fee of $ 7.50 had been charged to me, although I had chosen the shared fee option). I sent a remark about that: 30 minutes later, I received an additional payment of $4 with apologies for the mistake.

By Wednesday morning, the domain name was in the Russian enduser's control according to Dynadot Whois.

Only one personal experience with that very young escrow service, but definitely a positive one. Obviously, since there were both a motivated seller and a motivated buyer on each end of the line, it helped things to go smoothly - but it definitely relieved me from concerns about getting a payment from Russia. Very reasonable fees (they have now decided to introduce a minimal $10 fee, which I find quite acceptable). And - this matters even more - there was a real person answering my questions in the escrow's interface, those were not automated replies.

I can only hope that MiniEscrow develops and manages to keep the same standards. Regarding myself, if I have another small transaction soon, it is quite likely that I would use MiniEscrow again.

It would anyway be quite useful if other customers like myself could report from time to time about their experiences: this would allow the community to know if everything continues to run on the same line, in such an area where trust is really what matters.

It would be great if MiniEscrow gains traction and acceptance.

Right now if you sell a domain on GoDaddy for under $500 you
have to wait 30 days or so to get paid even if the Buyer gets
the domain right away.

This is because GoDaddy is not a licensed Escrow company.

For sales over $500 GoDaddy uses Escrow.com so you get paid faster.

It would be great if GoDaddy started using MiniEscrow.com for the under
$500 sales so everyone can get paid quickly.

I have used miniescrow.com and I want to say that I am happy with it.

I sold a domain name for $300 the fees was $10 and it was split between me and buyer.

I will definitely use miniescrow.com services again

I just wanted to leave my comments about MiniEscrow.com -

I just completed a transaction today via MiniEscrow.com @ the request of the buyer for $1,000 total.

The whole process was very smooth. Payment was received via MassPay the same day the domains were pushed to MiniEscrow's account.

It is a good option for smaller transaction as the escrow fees are much more reasonable.

Thanks for the reviews. I have been hesitant to try out new escrow services, but this might convince me next time to use it! I mainly would trust escrow.com, sedo escrow, and moniker escrow.

disappointing service

I currently using it for two of my transactions. They are painstakingly slow.

I am quite disappointed with their service. It doesn't have numbers to call and ask for a update. They don't respond to support email. It been more than 24 hours and still not update.....they shouldn't be advertising 24/7 if they are not able to deliver.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It may just be that they are waiting for the payment from the buyer (assuming you are the seller). As we all know from experience, it takes two to make a smooth transaction.

But keep us informed! It is useful for the community to know how MiniEscrow is developing, either positively or not.
