.tv I'm Back from the Future! News for Friday March 19, 2010 from DN.TV

Hi Fellow .TV Domainers & Developers, Lovers & Haters, Friends and Foes!

This report comes from DN.TV reporter Mr. Rhee...

I've just returned from the Future and it appears that on Friday March 19, 2010 - the .TV world as we know it has changed dramatically. Keep in mind, time travel is not a perfect science and the world I saw may never exist... but I hope it becomes a reality. I saw a major shake-up taking place... a TLD relaunched in a way no one could've expected...

Here's what I saw on my brief visit to the future...

I saw that the Sedo auction news was only one piece of the puzzle... the real news was Friday... that news coupled with SEDO's news brought .TV back on the radar for many people that had abandoned it, turned against it, or were simply apprehensive about owning .tv premiums...

Now imagine 55K+ premium .TV domains... with one time upfront premium price tags... and instead of PREMIUM RENEWALS as we know it... all the premiums carried regular renewals going forward... impossible but true, not just for the SEDO 115, but for every remaining premium on the list...

but wait... there's more... 55K+ premiums NOW being sold by multiple registrars... not just ENOM... more retailers, resellers, generating more awareness... and sales...

I also saw... and I'm fuzzy on this... but it appears there was a massive landrush Wednesday March 17th...

...(in the future no longer called St. Patricks Day by the .TV community... but the GREAT LANDRUSH of 2010)

and during this landrush... many .tv premiums were sold in a just a few hours and acquired by some names I recognized from inside & OUTSIDE the regular .TV buyers pool... waves of great premiums... sold... sold... sold... I only wish I could've gone back with the knowledge I held and taken part...

this brings us up to Thursday March 18 when everything went DARK. Complete Darkness in the .TV world. Lots of buzz, rumors, news, supporters & detractors waging war... with no answers to be found anywhere...

ALL leading up to the great re-launch of the .TV TLD Friday March 19, 2010 (in the future: simply known in the .TV community as: REBOOT).

I must have been dreaming... but that's the future as I saw it... perhaps it's our future or one from a parallel universe... time will tell... keep in mind, this future may not happen and I could've altered the future simply by returning to share this info with you...

I hope it comes to fruition... But it may not happen in my lifetime... I will have to wait a long time to find out... nearly 20 HOURS and counting...

For my next trip, I plan to travel further into the future, deeper, WEEKS... maybe even a MONTH, to see what happens for those of us that hold "legacy" premium .TV's with premium renewals... I suspect that premiums will be eliminated via negotiations, and or one-off payments... but I will return soon with more info... FROM THE FUTURE! ;)

Good luck to all, lovers & haters, friends & foes.

Are you saying all .tv's now don't have any premium pricing and can be registered anywhere?

Or is that something you're hoping for?

I still see all the premiums listed on enom but not available at any other registrars.

Based on my FUTURE RECON...

multiple registrars selling .TV non premiums... and .TV premiums.

It makes sense for Verisign to expand their reach and get more visibility for .TV premiums.

Wouldn't it be crazy if big bad BOB PARSONS starts selling .TV again at GoDaddy? That's all he ever wanted, was to sell the premiums too. GoDaddy is successful with their current premium listings (during registration lookup, not TDNAM)... I can see the .TV premiums fitting perfectly in that section. For those who flip, keep in mind that GD lets you place your names in those spots too (but I think the % is MASSIVE).

Time will tell.

disclaimer: I could be wrong. The future could be different. VRSN could make changes today that effect Friday's news... but, I find it highly unlikely. :)

Frank Schilling invested BIG in dot tv in the last 24 hours. That will make a statement.

Last time I checked, I was able to list only .com, .net & .org into premium listing section (with 30% fee).

Have you heard the buzz?

I've heard the buzz ... how any of it means anything for present holders of STRANGLING :$: hefty annual Premium .TV renewal fee domains is not so clear; or, more importantly, how this will lead to critical developments / content of actual .TV websites?

When this recent (and future) "news" all shakes out, I think a lot will be left wondering, scratching their heads and checking their pocketbooks ... and will once again be reminded that ".TV's" are are only a very small (and amongst regular Usual Suspect™ domainers) niche / vanity extension, IMHO. :red:

Just my two sense,
Jeff B-)

Jeff for someone who is only giving two cents you spend a lot of time here. Its interesting someone with no vested interest spending so much time in an area they have no interest in.

Telepathy is not Frank Schilling, Frank Schilling is Name Administration Inc. Telepathy is another big domainer outfit, but they are not Frank Schilling.

You will find both companies in the Enom whois for names offered up last night.....

Thanks for the clarification,
