The exciting thing to me about 3D is thinking outside the box. If you are registering 3D names, you are planning for the future. I don’t get excited or worry about search results when registering URLs.
Do you think the guy that reg-ed ipod.com would have reg-ed it based on search results. He would have gotten ZERO results.

3D urls are new, and many are worthless and will always be worthless, that’s why one may want to reg many urls to diversify your domain portfolio.

Appraising 3D names is difficult, because there is no history.

I think that there will be many niche areas that we haven’t even thought of yet. We are on the cutting edge of Web 3.D.

I have scrubed the web on 3D for the last few months and have been reg-ing domains for 15 years. Most industries are benefiting from the 3D Revolution. 3D Porn, 3D Mining, 3D Health Care, 3D Military, 3D Education, 3D Social Media. If you are only thinking movies and TV’s, you are missing the boat.

I believe that once 3D Home Entertainment expands in the home, movies will just be part of the experience. I can see us putting on 3D glasses and exploring 3D other sites. 3D sites that let them explore other worlds, places, cities, wonders of the world, and chatting with friends in 3D. New cottage entertainment industries will develop.

New business and opportunities will be created to satisfy our natural curiosity to explore, and they will need good, brandable domain names.

I think this is confusing when you have a situation where you have one letter ending a word and the same letter starting the next word.

I just registered my first two 3d domains earlier today:

3dSetup.info

I have no idea what value to place on these domains.

I have never read so much BS in one thread EVER.

One guy shouting his mouth off all over the show smoking his crack pipe - with a big fat zero value for a portfolio that he will sell for millions, one guy claiming in huge font that he "just got offered $42,000 for a 3d he regged probably yesterday but of course is turning down the offer, then you have more "first time posters" or "second posters" joining this thread than anything I have ever seen to date.

Then you have another guy with two posts who has been "domaining for 15 years" and in all that time never posted once on NP until this 3D thread.

It's like the same with .tel and .asia threads.

1. New people come in, register a whole bunch names (.tel, .asia, 3D), and talk about how the new hype is the best thing since sliced bread.

2. Domain experts share their opinion (negative) about the names

3. .tel, .asia, 3D investors call them a critic and hater (who are secretly trying to lower the value of the domains so that they can purchase the name themselves)

4. It does not end well

You'll see the same pattern repeating over and over with new hypes.

This thread reminds of of those spam penny stock emails. It seems like it is just a promotion tool for lame domains.

The classic pump and dump.

Just like penny stock players, we domainers need speculators to buy some of these secondary domains. Thats why most of us are here.

I have received some offers for 3d domains in spanish, such us "televisores3d.com" and "televisor3d.com" (3dtelevisions and 3dtelevision). Also have best 3d domains in spanish such as "monitores3d.com" (3dmonitors.com and 3dscreens).

Major problem: many domainers treat domain names as lottery tickets.
This is wrong. Luck accounts for 1% of sales in this business. The rest depends upon quality and your choice of registrations/purchases.

Investment (based upon research, analysis and a thorough understanding of the market) is not the same as (wild) speculation.

As for self-induced hype, cult hysteria and wishful thinking... it's a distinct category and it takes you nowhere but into the wall.

@Steven: you're totally right. We have seen it before, it's just that there is more insanity than usual in this particular thread.
