Anyone else registering 3D domains?

It seems that 3D is going to be the the next must have technology, according to the big brands, they are all launching 3D TVs.

I attempted to find good 3D names but the best domains are already taken, I think in 5 years time or even less, those generic 3D domains will be worth a lot. :imho:

Anyone else registering 3d domains? Do you think they have a future?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I'm sure the same thing will have been said about nano technology, smartphones, laptops etc when they first came on the scene. But without emerging niches, time stands still and domaining would die.
At the risk of repeating myself, there are some excellent 3D names relevant to the new 3D technology. What are you suggesting ? Because sex .com and business .com were registered years ago we should all give up and not register anything with sex or business in the name ?
I agree there are stacks of 3D names that are not good, but then they do enhance the value of the good ones ?

I'm sure you're right when folks were downplaying "laptops", etc. But nobody went out and regged "laptopbald.com" and "laptoplivingroom.com".

3D is a technology that's coming. But applying that to every name under the sun is ridiculous.

As I said before, ALL the worthwhile 3D names have been taken for years.

Your question: Anyone else registering 3d domains?

My answer: yes! I've got 3depisode.com,3dratings.net,3dreview.net,3dtvbuyer.net&.com,& watchfree3dporn.com. They're probably crap, but I'm investing in the future...and the future is crap!! :bah:

this isn't a recommendation to go out and register 3dbald.com and 3dlivingroom.com, but '3dsoap.com' might not be a bad idea. dial soap has gotten into the 3d act: Dial for Men, 3D Odor Defense 8 pk- 4 oz bar - My Brands

i just left the drug store. had a chuckle when i saw it on the shelf.

by the way domainica, i agree that all this bandwagon stuff has gotten out of hand and a lot of the regs are silly, but the statement that "ALL the worthwhile 3D names have been taken for years' is true only if you define 'worthwhile' in the strictest sense imaginable. maybe none of the names mentioned in this thread will earn anyone a million bucks but a good many of them will do ok by many people's standards.

now pardon me while i go see if '3d soap' has been registered yet.

Do you think India/Bollywood will ever jump on the 3D movie/cinema bandwagon

I have this one

I can tell you this much for sure.
No one is too sure just how far this technology will go and how far it will reach but the more I read about it, the more I see all of the Major media outlets are all creating their own 3D Technologies right now as we speak. 2 TV Companies are now selling 3D ready tv's and I'm sure every other tv Company will follow suit because they will have to, in order to stay competive. If I'm buying a $1500 tv today, and I can have one additional option then I'm grabbing the tv with the most options.

Your domain is a very good and short one. It is not the 3DPotato type of domain that so many refer to in this thread, so I would say it is a keeper. As we see the 3D domains start to get a little action in the near future that will be more of a guage for you. If it were mine, I would plan on holding onto it for a year or 2 to be able to see the pinnacle of this 3D Technology.

Best of luck to you.

Well said "the dot stop"

I have noticed a lot of my 3D names getting more and more traffic lately so thats a good sign, mostly domainers I guess.

Especially these 3 names

3DTV.co.in
3DStoreOnline.com
3DGizmos.com

There aren't going to be many 3Dkeyword.com/net that are unregistered that have web sites that share that keyword, so it's not a good play.

You don't have to be speculative in hand-regging domains, there are plenty of keywords related to old products that are still up for grabs.

WE have soaps3d.com
It does not make sense to say 3dsoap there is no such thing
Switch it around and it makes sense

It could be soaps or a soap site
Seeing All my Children in 3d wooo.
I think 3d.coms will be huge
They are predicting half the homes will have 3d sets in less than 3 years
That means companies will be forced to invent 3d websites to go along with the 2d one already in play, I think I would go to a true 3d.com just to see how creative the designer got.
We also have Make Over 3D I can see an upload of your face or body and you could convert it to anything you want, Face lift clothes breasts any makeover you choose.
DO NOT UNDER SELL YOUR 3D.coms they will be huge.

Regular 2d .coms will be worthless in a few years
All companies will have a 3d website
Most companies will have a 2d site and a 3d site so consumers have both options.
I totally disagree with you. With 3d internet TVs 3dlaptops 3d computer monitors and 3d phones there is NO WAY 3d web will not blast off very soon.

Just to understand what you are referring to - are you talking about domains containing "2D" or all domains that do not contain the term "3D" in them.

IMO all non 3D websites will phase out in the next 5-10 years.
When I say 3d I mean 3d animation and 3d with the glasses.
These sites will be The New Internet. All companies will upgrade there current websites and mask there previous .coms to 3d.coms. Just like Toys.com is masked to ToysRUS.com 5 million later.
You can view 3d animated websites without glasses and they are stunning.
For games, video and photos put on the glasses for companies that do not use those 3 they will all be 3d animated websites. Normal 2d websites and .coms orgs nets ect will be phased out IMO
Once you go 3d you won't go back.

Just like 8 track VHS CDS ect ,

These are my opinions of course,

Do not sell these cheap
Increase the value by holding on

Just a quick update to add to this 3D thread.

I took 2 of my 3D hand reg's that I regged 3 days ago.
Race3D-net, and Fight3D-net.

I submitted them to Bido, they were voted in very quickly.
I believe I put a $300.00 BIN price on each of them, with the option of buyers making an offer.

Both auctions just ended a few minutes ago, and there was a bid of $28.00 on each of them.

So, to the nay-sayers to say this is not a worthwhile niche,
I respectfully disagree.

3 days, hand reg's, and bids of 4x my initial investment, at a smaller Domain Auction house...

I would say thats a pretty good indicator that this niche is not just a niche.

I don't believe I will accept the offers, ( I have 24 hours to decide)???
But I just wanted to give you guys a little guage on what's going on so far in my 3D world.

Take Care and best of luck to all of us!

A lot of options with race and fight
I don't like the .net though

Well I just had a peek at some longtail domains and guess what...

Either I am completely insane or I am just thinking outside the box.

So here is my thought process, on mobile phones. "pay as you go" "contract" you know the terms people use and search.

So I was amazed to see that

3dpayasyougo.com
3dpayasyougomobile.com
3dpayasyougomobilephone.com
3dpayasyougomobilephones.com
3dpayasyougophones.com
3dcontractphone.com

available.... so I bought.

Taking adwords as a guide to the longtail,

pay as you go (exact searches roughly 70,000 per month)
Pay as you go mobile (exact searches roughly 8000 per month)
pay as you go mobile phone (exact searches around 12,000 per month)
contract phone (exact searches 8000 per month)
pay as you go mobile phones (exact searches per month 402,000) Hola!!!
pay as you go phones (exact searches around 82,000 per month)

So I'm guessing people will simply put the term 3d before these searches.

I.e 3d pay as you go mobile phones

Edit. Picked up 3dprepaidphones and 3dprepaidcellphones both .com aswell

Am I insane???????
