Who are YOU hosted with and why?

Lets make this the official thread for everyone who has bought into a certain host and their packages. Tell us why you decided on it, some of the pros and cons. A lot of people at NamePros trust the opinions of others rather than some random and sketchy article which boasts that some hosting company is better for whatever reason. So with that said, let us know! :tu:

Just an update here since I started out domaining - I started this thread because I wanted to get an idea of what everyone was using and where I should spend my time and have found my way from this board over to Noomle.com and have to say I'm incredible pleased, and recommend them.

Just saw this old hosting thread pop up and figured I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I've been with a ton of hosting companies over the past 15 years, and I've never been more pleased than I am with LiquidWeb. While comparing prices I noticed that they were a bit more expensive then some of the other guys (though not much), but with LiquidWeb you truly do get what you pay for. Plus if you pay a one-time setup fee you get a discounted monthly rate, so if you plan on being with them a while it's a no-brainer.

I have had nothing but fantastic support from them. My tickets are assigned and responded to within an hour, their reps really know their stuff (and will regularly offer to jump on your server and do the work for you), and I literally don't have a single complaint about them. In fact, they go above and beyond what you'd expect from a hosting company. I can't give the specifics, but one time a rep helped me out so much that I sent him an amazon gift card as a thanks. I was THAT impressed.

Also, when I was getting one of my VPSs setup, someone accidentally gave me a 50 gig drive instead of a 20 gig drive. I thought it was my server reporting numbers incorrectly so I submitted a ticket, and not only did they tell me that I got to keep the 50 gig drive at no extra charge since it was their mistake, but they did it with a smile.

I can't stress enough how great LiquidWeb is, and I recommend them to anyone that asks me about hosting. After 15 years of jumping around I finally found my host for life.

WiredTree because I prefer having my servers in Chicago as the odds of a weather related disaster occurring compared to texas, california or florida is lower, looking into Liquid Web as well as they are in Lansing, Michigan for a comparison to wired tree, I like midwest providers or keeping things close to home, nice to call a local number if support is ever needed as well.

But as far as I understand you are web hosting service provider, so you do not trust your own web sites for yourself?
I know this was an old post but... huh?

We lease our servers and have full control and access over them. We fully manage them ourselves. Am a little confused by your comments? :)

I say that we just leased a server (which is what nearly all hosts do, including HostGator - one of the biggest hosts out there), and you say that...?

Please let me know what you meant?

We are hosted with GoDaddy, because it is fairly easy to use, and offers all of the auto installing website addins that make our life a little bit easier.

I host with myself because it's a reliable service. :P

But I get my servers from WiredTree

I will be surprising news if you are hosted somewhere not on your servers especially for the all customers from you ;)

Has anyones opinion changed on the hosting? I'm still using Noomle for my sites because its incredibly easy and free. However I've heard a lot of complains this year about hostgator, and bluehost but then again their giants so I guess there would be more haters there. Also have heard some good things about VPS though

I'm working for the web hosting company, but I do not have even a personal web site hosted with my company.

You work for WebIntellects but don't host with them? Do you have a personal web site hosted somewhere else?

Many people do it. I for one dont like to mix busniess with pleasure sure I'd save me about 10$ a month but I guess its because a previous employeer let me host for free fired me and deleted my accounts before Ih ad a backup. Lesson learned.

I am with resellerzoom.com because they have a good reputation and have inexpensive
hosting plans. Having a good reputation is important because there are some real
sleezeballs offering inexpensive hosting on Namepros. The first host that i used for
my websites was putting popups on my web pages to try to get people to download
an adware virus. Other people here have had the same problem. I suggest that a
good reputation be a requirement for your host.

I'm with MidnightHosting.co.uk

I won a year free hosting with them a while back, and the uptime and speed was that good that I stuck with them. It's not the cheapest hosting around, but the reliability makes it worthwhile.

I'm in Australia, so I'd prefer to have Australian hosting, but I worry that since 90% of my visitors are from America and Europe that a site hosted in Australia might load too slow for them.

How did you manage to win? Entered into a draw because you had done business with them before? I'm sorta skeptical when it comes to entering for online contests only because I think you're the first person to have mentioned that you actually won something :D

The competition was through a blog that had just started (I can't remember the name of it). The hosting company had donated a hosting package for 12 months as a prize for the contest. I'd never heard of this hosting company before so I wasn't expecting much, but as I said in my previous post, the reliability and speed was great so i decided to pay to stay with them after my 12 months free ended.

Every backlink you got for the blog (i.e. by posting on your blog or social bookmarking) got you an entry into the competition. There was about 10 prizes and I got two of them.

I guess I just got lucky, because there were quite a few entrants.

I just started using the free Godaddy hosting that comes with my domains...seems ok so far. But I use a dedicated server with Rackspace for my clients.

I'm using HostGator.com because I've found
their team to be highly knowledgeable and
their uptime is very reliable.

They also have great affiliate support.

Greetings,
Georg

I am currently hosting with bluehost, hosting with them is pretty good at this time, as my site is new, but I face the CPU throttling and mostly my sites are down for 10-30 minutes/day.

I'm chiefly using Hostgator specifically the "baby" shared hosting plan.

My requirements right now are just two small forums, nothing major. So far, no real problems save a few times when there actually were a large influx of visitors .. users reported server errors. Not many times though. No problems with tech support. I can't say anything about load speeds as my cable broadband provider isn't reliable with their speeds these past few months (No fios in the area yet). All and all, I can't complain.

This thread has been around for sometime, anyway I hosted with godaddy.

I sign up for their hosting because I'm new and don't know how to transfer domain. I mean register with one registrar and get the content hosted else where. That was a year ago.

Goddy has some catch that I'm not too please with
1) it says unlimited space but limiting the folder you can create to 99 only. I've not max it out yet, a catch is a catch.

2) the user panel is way too slow. Often when I'm doing domains management in the cpanel, its taking me at least half a day for some simple task.

3) When you renew a domain for next year its 10++. I was lure in by the offer to register domain for a low price. Enom is doing renew at 10 fixed via google.

i'm seriously looking for other hosting for my up coming WP blog hosting. :)

Their good features is also provided for by others.
