The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
So the upgrades have been completed. We are showing 5 less ads than before. The biggest change that most of you won't see until tomorrow or later this week, is a new technology that we are using to decide which keywords to put on your landing pages. Without going into too many details, you will see a lot more relevant keywords with more advertisers. You shouldn't see the old "hot stock" and "hot stocks" showing up on the landing pages anymore. Any domain that gets clicks on a daily basis will see the changes starting tomorrow, everybody else will see it within the next 1-3 days. By this time next week everybody should see a nice increase.

parked.com catch 22

Apologies if this is a bit of a newbie question, but I've just had my application to join parked.com rejected on the grounds that the traffic to my domains isn't a high enough standard - but surely the entire point of domain parking is that you can get a site up for a domain without needing traffic first?

If I had a site with traffic, I wouldn't use a parking service would I? Or have I just missed the point, and parked.com only meant for people who snap others domains with traffic after they've lapsed?

If that's the case parked isn't what I'm after anyway, so can anyone recommend some better alternatives? I just want a good place to park some freshly registered domains with relevant links.

Thanks.

Yes, WhyPark is this "alternative" that Parked has for you. :)

Tony,
How what will affect you? The Yahoo/Microsoft deal? No idea. As I mentioned before, I think there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages to any deal. Combining the two systems, I would hope they chose to use Microsoft's AdCenter and not Yahoo's system.

Past that, I've asked some friends at Yahoo and they said they haven't heard anything on there end. One even said they thought the writers were bored this week so they needed something to write about.

One thing that is good about Microsoft is that they may not have more advertisers than Yahoo today, but they have more countries than Yahoo does today.

At the moment, I'm more concerned about the effect on the organics than on the PPC.

Parked now gains a full lap over the rest of the parking companies and doesn't seem to be looking back. :hehe:

Looking forward to seeing the difference in RPC:) and any differences in CTR the changes will bring.

Donny, have you tried getting a Google feed...
If so, how did that work out?

And how do all these recent changes necessarily relate to 'just hopefully more money'?

I have access to a Google feed today, that's why we still use a Yahoo feed. Google is good for one thing, what Yahoo isn't, international/non-english speaking countries.

We are hopeful that the changes will make a difference. I can't guarantee anything. On the domains that we tested the changes on they all saw a large increase in the RPC. CTR varied a bit, so we weren't sure if because people didn't have 10 ads to click on or not. We may continue to tweak the total number of ads displayed.

Main reason i ask...is that earlier u had said this...."I have recently talked to Microsoft and they aren't interested in the parking world yet.".....

We'll have to see how it plays out over the next several days, but so far I like what I see :)

The final numbers are out for yesterday, about an 11% increase overall compared to last Monday. The next few days should definitely be more interesting. And just think these changes are mainly focused around the US/CA markets so far. We still have a lot more work to do.

For this pay period, yesterday almost tied for the lowest day in CTR % but also almost tied for the highest days RPC and seem to come out pretty good in the end. Although it's too early to come to any conclusions, I am seeing the higher RPC already and like the new look of the results page.

Monday was the best day of this current pay period for me
