The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Be careful with TM terms - there could be a good reason why it was allowed to expire!

And it looks like flyfishing took in $630. Not a bad price for a very usable domain.

I wonder who snagged 6x.ca?
I can't believe it dropped...

Whole lot of c-c.ca's dropping in less than a dozen hours from now for those interested! Other than that a bit of weak drop this week.

That's almost 16% of the possible 676 c-c .ca's all dropping at once! 43 to be exact! Interesting for sure, but I guess it confirms what we all knew on short domains for .ca: we're not there yet!

I have to agree that it was a pretty ordinary drop but there were still interesting names in there... To name a few: 6x.ca, yat.ca, yea.ca, fly-fishing.ca, off-road.ca, presenter.ca, treaties.ca, romantisme.ca, vedettes.ca.

I'll also take the time to introduce you guys to Expirin'.ca since we're discussing TBRs... I have, like many of you I'm sure, a severe addiction to drop lists! Being a programmer, I also can't resist the urge to optimize things and find solutions to problems. That lead me to create scripts to filter domain drops in many different usable categories. After sitting on them for a while, I decided to publish the outcome on a blog, starting with .ca domains, to see if I could save time to other domainers and get them addicted too!

Here is what I currently post to it:
- Full list, grouped alphabetically (For archiving purposes... the CIRA doesn't do it AFAIK)
- Full list, No digits & No hyphens, grouped alphabetically
- 2 to 7 characters, grouped by patterns (NN, LLL etc.)
- Geo names (My favorite filter so far!)
- English & French dictionary words

Best of all, it's all FREE! I don't plan to ever charge for this information... (If you want to help me out with the hosting bill, I can create very specific filters for you only, really cheap :tu:)

Let me know what you think! I'm looking for feedback, especially on what more categories you would like to see. Anything reasonable will be implemented. PM me.

(P.S. I didn't create a new thread because this is pretty much the only active .ca one. Mods feel free to move part of my post to a new topic if you believe it is needed.)

I checked CIPO first. Plus most of the other tld's are regged and developed. I'm not worried about that one.

FlyFishing was a good buy though. I'm sorry it wasn't me. :'(

Gotta talk to the banker about next week. There are some pretty nice keywords. D-:

Sorry meant L-L.ca. Looks like the bulk of them - if not all were grabbed that were available in the tbr today. Some of them had potential meanings.

Seems logical enough... but to be honest No!

I don't even understand why people are bothering with them (short domains other than CC, LLL, NNN) at all when there is still a LOT of nice unregistered niche names, geos, dictionary etc.

We simply pointed out that a lot of L-L's were dropping at once (I'm guessing C-C was said to highlight the pattern), meaning that somebody probably took a risk and mass-reged them on the same day... only to let them expire later, clearly not seeing any value in them.

What's interesting however is that if you look at the TBR results, about 50% of them were claimed and all by the same registrar!

FYI I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the last few pages but the Namespro.ca coupon SAVEDOTCA (for a dollar off new regs, transfers and renewals) still works and has been extended till feb 2010.

Just in case anyone was looking.

I'm not understanding your post MasterOfMyDomains
you have some of the same names twice.

Are you selling them or giving them away or are they dropping?

Thanks for the update - I tried it about a month or so ago,
and it didn't work - glad to know it's extended :)

can.ca got space today. Are they a lone registrar or are they working with someone else?

I just googled the cira number that's on the whois
If it's correct, I recognize his name from seeing it
on many domains I check availability for :)

Private registrar - and final price - regfee! LOL

Already parked too - what a waste. But since I develop domains I'm so glad the top .ca's are all parked - thus no competition from them! ;)

Yes that was a very good week, unfortunately I was in a class all week and unable to purchase. All the ones I wanted were snapped up. I thought the other really strong name was "Michelangelo.ca". Kudos to whoever got that one.

I won't be around for the April 8th drop either so good luck to all.

Thanks. It gets decent traffic from it too. I got it for either a minisite (I fish from there every summer) or as I suspect to sell to an end-user before I ever get one finished... hopefully before fishing season so this year I can charter a bigger boat and bring even more friends!
