Hi Guys,

Next month I will be launching a new site and I hope to have affiliate marketing as one of my major marketing strategies.

If you need any background info the site is a marketplace and takes a commision on sales. I am happy to offer affiliates up to 90% of any commisions earnt but I would prefer to keep the commision payout as low as possible. However I realised great affiliates deserve great rewards.

So my question is how do I find great affiliates. Should I use an affiliate service such as CJ or clickbank??

As affiliates what do you look for how would you get recruited?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think forums is the best place to find affiliates. I found so many of them for my softwares.

You could also approach other bigger marketer to do JV's with them. They usually have great affiliates that promote the hell out of things. Plus if you already had a list of people you would sure get them too.

I'm interesting in this too, since we just started our affiliate program for a few days ago, I only found (so far) 1 forum which allows advertsing posts for your affiliate program, that one gave me 20 new affiliates within a few days.... But I would like to find more affiliates faster.

I been in affiliate marketing for 11 or 12 years now.
It's not about how much an affiliate program pays. Sure a high commission is great but I would rather have a good affililate program with a good affiliate manager that gives great support. If your affiliate program sux then it won't do you any good to get affiliates, they'll just leave anyways and you will 500 inactive affiliates...

There are a bunch of little things that can turn away an experienced affiliate marketer from your affiliate program...

If you have a product that you sell and want to pay commissions per sale then check out Shareasale.com

outside of signing with the major networks from an advertisers perspective (cj, pepperjam, shareasale), the best way to get affiliates is to do a lil digging. First determine which niche your after. Then you want to target various blog authors in that areas, but you want to target ones that are followed (ie good traffic).

Send the author a tailored email depicting your likes of his topics, and offering him your program in a short concise paragraph.IMO, you want to do both (advertise through pepperjam/cj AND get affiliates directly).

I good way is to get your program listed in affiliate directories..... or work with CJ et al. They are the ones with the clout.
