Huge Domain Name Theft

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
I don't normally duplicate posts, however I think due to the severity of this theft, it deserves to be posted both here and in Domain Discussion.

The following information was provided courtesy of TheLegendaryJP:

As most in the community know there is a prolific domain theif from the middle east ( IRAN ) that has stolen several high profile names. He has been spotted and stopped several times yet continues to operate and be successful at it.

Well it has reached a new level. He is now so brazen and " untouchable " in his mind he has now started to operate an active web site offering the stolen names for sale

The following site www.luxarydomains.com feature what are known to be STOLEN or hijacked domains. The magnitude is shocking and likely not all he has taken. I will go further to state that alot of those victims are still clueless.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANY OF THESE NAMES FROM HIM!!!!

Posted names so they are cached should he take site down.

Wow! That's an awful lot of name stealing! Kinda scary too. This just again reiterates what's been said many times before.., don't use a web based email for your contact info.

Personally I disagree and I have stated it before.
Do use a web-based, or home based, or whatever you want...
But always use a secondary address for domain alerts on your primary address and check it daily. My primary is a paid yahoo business address with a few layers of security and my secondary is my corporate email which is also on my blackberry. Anyone can steal any password from any of your addresses, but if you receive the notification that one of your domains suddenly isn't yours, you can halt all action on it immediately.

Anybody have an idea if these domains were ever returned to their rightful owner?Tagging the experts... @TheLegendaryJP @Acroplex

Howdoi.com

I assume some were returned to their rightful owner? Some of these domains have a sales history such as HowDoI.com was sold on Flippa by the apparent original owner Saga City Corporation in Jaunuary 2016. https://flippa.com/5946786-howdoi-com. Theft.org also has a sales history from flippa seller / original registrant Saga City Corporation. https://flippa.com/9180827-theft-org

I'm wondering how many accounts were all these domains stolen from? ie How many victims? I assume certain victims had multiple domains stolen. Were they all retrieved? Update(s) requested.

Just wondering if the original owner is on NamePros?

This thread is almost 10 years old. It's impossible to track those names, although if we are dealing with the notorious Iranian hacker of the 2000's I believe he went "legit" at some point. Stranger things have happened.
