It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I was just on phone with them and the tech hung up on me after 10 minutes on hold. WTF?

Just called hostway again and Jonathon was able to give me some answers as to why the orders are not going through. Apparently, they say that the AV emails were sent through but I've never gotten any so they will resend those, lets see if I get the AV.

Yes, I just called them too, for me it's an international call - even after 25 minutes nobody answered....

It seems to me that this people are not understanding how .PRO works....
AV messages sending by Registry only after domain is in WHOIS database. If you see it available it meens that reg. enquiry did not come to Registry.....

Conclusion: We need to fire hostway.com from our trusted .pro registrars list.

Yeah, I don't think I will register anymore until they get their act together.

As I said I wanted to transfer my 130+ domains but I have decided not to do that after the failure of my demo transfer. I got email from domain people that they got notification of domain transfer from hostway... I mean, WTF? Are domain people connected with hostway? I don't know, too much confusion. Frankly, I can't wait 10 days for transfer to go through when it should only take 1 or 2 days and even after 10 days I get email from another registrar about the transfer and not the one I paid.

Encirca is the most reliable .pro registrar but also the most expensive. I haven't had any registration problems with Encirca. The only problem I had was they didn't switch my .pros into my name for the first 2 weeks.

I registered 3 .pros with DomainPeople today, luckily I checked the WHOIS about 10 minutes later because only 1 actually registered. I had to go back and put each domain through individually.

I registered a .pro with DomainPeople on 11 Oct, yesterday, 14 Oct, I get an email saying if I don't email them the last 4 digits of my credit card within 24 hours they will cancel the .pro. It had gone through on the card and I submitted the A/V check.

I have never managed to register a $14.95 with Hostway which is peculiar since they own RegistryPro.

On the first day of relaunch Network Solutions were selling registrations for 3 letter .pros. I regged a few of those and then had to wait a week for a refund.

I regged 6 "o" .pros today with the help of an online crossword puzzle solver;

Apollo.pro
Bravo.pro
Jumbo.pro
Indigo.pro
Pronto.pro
Mango.pro

I thought these short memorable rhyming .pros would be good to have in stock at $19.99 because they work with pretty much any development project. Indigo.pro and Mango.pro would be great for design related sites, Jumbo.pro works for volume discount retail, Pronto.pro has a rhyming "o" and pro in the keyword and would be good for service speed critical sites.

Interesting fact about .pro; there are about 21,000 .pros registered now, up 200% from 8 September, that's about the same as the number of .coms registered at the start of 1993.

I agree with spoofies. I hadn't seen his post till I scrolled down some more...but I agree, SolarEnergy.pro and HomeOffice.pro for sure.

My personal preference if I just had to do one would be HomeOffice.pro though. Great name. There are many professionals with a Home Office.

This actually would be a great "addition" to this already useful thread. What names should we develop? The following are the .pro's that I own. Which one should I develop first?

Algebra.pro
CreditScores.pro
Tablet.pro
GoldCoins.pro
FantasySports.pro

When for domains registered with Encirca should come AV e-mail from Registry? I have been register .pro domain with Encirca and it's gone 2 days, but I did not receive AV e-mail from .pro registry.

Cool! Good job! Very interesting domains!

In this case we can make a forecast (as we are .PRO fans): .PRO will become like .COM, even more!

What do you think about OPERATOR.PRO?

On many languages operator have the same spelling and same meaning (Russian, English, Sweden, Polish and etc.)
In google for "operator" - 162 000 000

And also what do you think about SCORECARD.PRO and CHANCE.PRO?

Thanks for your comment, oral.pro was also in my list too :)

And what are you thinking about chain.pro?
and it's also useful to make a portal on this domain or social network:
supply.chain.pro
shop.chain.pro
and etc...

I have a few .pro's that I registered a couple years back.

I'm not sure about all these new rules with the registry though - from what I read, we HAVE "submit professional licensing information before we renew the domains" - so I don't understand how/why everyone here is registering loads of .pro's at this stage - aren't you all worried that you will lose your domains when they come up for renewal?? Maybe everyone here is a professional?

Only bringing this up because I know the ProForwarding loophole with Encirca will no longer be valid soon.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this, and what I may have missed!

Cheers

I guess we have another issue...

Last night I placed order for these two domains (plus 4 others):

Compact.pro
Omaha.pro

It went through fine, the domains were available (check registrypro whois directly). I got confirmation for compact.pro from DomainPeople but not for Omaha. I called them today and it seems omaha.pro was registered today (about 12 hours after I did) by someone at netsol. I don't know why it was delayed but we will find out.... :-/

So, this is a developing issue for me and the .PRO registrations!!!!

What do you think about it?

Thanks.

Thanks, a lot of US cities are still available. I will hold off and see what happens with Omaha.pro but I think I lost it even though I registered it 12 hours before anybody else did.
