It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Yes, everybody receives that e-mail for their .PRO domains. You have to confirm a government granted license or else your domain will be taken away from you.

Going back to .PRO domain showcase topic, I regged:

Flip.pro (homes/real estate flipping)

Do you have had any luck with HostWay as a .pro provider?

I think their website usability suck and their customer service is slowly. I need to wait like 2 days to have an answer to my urgent questions. Additionally it seems like they don't have any service on weekend. I have decided to pay 5 dollars extra and use DomainPeople for .pro registering.

I agree, apart from the GOOD price on .PRO domains (14.95), almost everything else is sub par. The control panel is horrible and confusing. The website is often slow, orders take a while to go through, customer service is abysmal when it comes to resolving the matter quickly however the response time to my queries was quick most of the times (email).

I haven't been able to register any .pros at Hostway at $14.95. When I set up an account, it gets cancelled. I have a Hostway.co.uk from several years back and they charge GBP £11.95 plus VAT = GBP £14.04 which is virtually a 1:1 exchange rate. It's cheaper to reg at DomainPeople for me.

Viticulture is completely lost on me. I think your registration is best seen as a unique word combination. That said, its a clever one at that! Cheers.

I am finally able to announce two names I picked up at Network Solutions this weekend. I had a helluva time getting them registered. The two names I tried to secure were "Algebra.pro" AND "CreditScores.pro" They kept showing available, I attempted to register them, and they still showed available.

Frustrating to say the least, but with many calls, and being overly complimentary to one of their support reps I was finally able to get them registered. They apparently were able to do it on their end (push the registration through) as I had given up. I just happen to check registry.pro to see them reg'd.

My only thing is these names weren't just sitting around unavailable. I'm wondering if other people tried to register them and had the same issues then had given up. Well, lucky for me I was finally able to secure them.

To me .pros are like .org names only on a individual level. Very powerful stuff with the right words.

CreditScores.pro would have been great in singular... Algebra.pro is nice, it was also on my list but down there somewhere.

I saw algebra available few days ago, never tried registering it.

I did not know this until I did a little research, but each of the three major credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion) assign you a credit score based on the FICO scoring system developed by the Fair Issacs Corporation. So you technically don't have a "Credit Score", but "Credit Scores".

Therefore, the domain is actually better than the singluar word version. Four days ago, I would have laughed at this notion. The content of the site would be geared towards helping people improve their credit "scores" from the 3 major credit bureaus. Again, I did not know this up until now, but each of the bureau's look at your credit history differently... So you won't get three exact same credit scores.

FYI ON the word "Algebra". It is spelled the same way in every language in the world. Therefore no need for translation. HUGE find, the way I see it. Offer up Algebra learning software on the site. "LEARN ALGEBRA in 1 DAY" type stuff. (just kidding, but the thought did cross my mind).

This is a grey area. FreeCreditScore.org sold for $123,000 in May 07 whereas CreditScores.net sold for $16,500 in April 07. FreeCreditReport.co.uk sold for $300,000 this week versus $70,000 for FreeCreditReports.co.uk.

I had the same dilemma when I was looking at Score.pro and Scores.pro. I ended up going for Score.pro, partly because I could buy it 50% cheaper and partly because singulars tend to work better in .pro because the extension unique selling proposition is brandability rather than just PPC and overture and brands are invariably singular.

Another time I had this problem was Skill.pro versus Skills.pro. I ended up regging both over time but wondered what other people thought, singular or plural? I think Skills.pro.

.pro Growth continues to accelerate. I just got this from Encirca;

"The new .pro is a success! Relaunched one month ago, the .pro domain has been scooped up by businesses and professionals across the globe. The result has been a surge in registrations of 200 percent since its reintroduction. There's still time for trademark owners to protect themselves and we're still offering registrations at a reduced price of $24.99 per year."

just regged MicroCredit.Pro - a little niche but definitely a growing industry. Had my eye on microfinance.pro for a few days and somebody scooped it up yesterday.

I think you did the right thing... skills.pro has a better tone to it, no doubt but .pro complements the singular form as well in this case.

Yes, everybody receives that e-mail for their .PRO domains. You have to confirm a government granted license or else your domain will be taken away from you.

Not necessarily, professional qualifications and membership of institutions or learned societies are acceptable. Governments do not have to issue anything, but it helps if it is nationally or internationally recognised.
