Bido house listings

I think they're just mixed in house/non-house listings.

Great site on bido, and excellent business/industry.
The name does not stand out because its like an immitation of sedo. And the finally the business concept is terrible.

Why do you think the business concept is terrible?

Bido wants to be the next Sedo right? and even greater?

Well, the concept is suppose to turn it to be an "Auction House". Instead, if Bido has 1 name at a time, its not much of a house. How many customers does it have in a year considering 365 days.

1 buyer and 1 seller per day, uh, Bido left out the "customer" in "business".

I believe they want to be something different. With so many great mind working there, they wouldn't overlook such a simple calculation

I personally do not know any great minds there but I think you probably know them to call them that.

And no, its not a simple calculation. Their business model is a no go.

i was disappointed not to be able to see previous sales and that the auctions only go for an hour ....... i soon forgot about them , i did sign up for a news letter but received nothing

Great communication, however I notice that the transfer process is a tad on the slow side. I've bought my second and after paying Friday the 11th, I am still awaiting my name.

I think the concept is a good one as long as your using premium names. The staff I have talked to during the transaction processes are extremely polite and helpful.

Hi Guys, thanks for the opportunity to clear up what it is about house listings.

Many of you will remember the auction of TopSecret.org, when we had Magicians.com sponsor and skin the site for a day. That was not a house listing.

We also successfully auctioned Harlot.com, which was not a house listing. Also there was GolfLibrary.com, again not a house listing.

And as was mentioned, we are auctioning Dickinson.com this upcoming Tuesday, July 22, which is currently registered to a member here from NP.

House Listings, as we call them, are easily identified as they will all have an "House Listing" icon and some informative text as well.

In regards to why we have been doing house listings, please keep in mind we have been auctioning for 1 month, there's been 31 auctions to date.
And each day we've been pushing a new version of the site live, we constantly add features and enhance the backend and the bidding interface.

We needed to learn about what works and what designs and concepts with the platform would be well accepted.
We needed to stress-test the site and watch it grow and make daily tweaks. Sellers need to see it work.

So the answer is twofold on the surface. Sellers needed to see the site make some sales in order learn to trust the market with the sale of their domains.
And we needed to make sure the site was working smootly. It was not built just to be a place for our team to sell their domains, far from it.
We have sold names on Bido that we previously would not consider less than six figures for.
We had to load up many of our own domains in order to give the site a kick start, and now that sellers are learning about the concept,
they are starting to accept it and realize its benefits, and to trust it enough to sell their own domains there. The system is being adopted by others and learning to fly now on its own.

evirtual1, if you sign up as a member of the site, you will be included into the more prominent mailings, such as auction start notifications.
The newsletter is a manual thing, but the system does send updates to the members.

I find the bido concept interesting but I don't see how it can work with just 1 sale a day - given the number of domainers and domains there are around the chances of having a domain chosen seem to me to be slim to nil - I have also done a quick analysis of sales so far and on an 8% commission Bido will make around $57K a year - hardly enough to keep the operation going I would think - so sales will have to increase significantly IMHO) - you can see my short post here - http://www.netmonetization.com/2008/07/sell-your-domains-at-bido.html

Hope to see more premium names being put on auction. Though I must say it's quite a risk on the owner's part with it being a $1 no reserve auction. :o

I took a look - if I was making over $10,000 a month, as the requirement states, I would be quite happy to live off the proceeds (I have modest needs) - just out of interest how many parked domains does it take to make $10K a month ?

I have DebtSpecialist.com on bido which ends Aug 1. I hope it does well, because there is a pretty big risk factor listing for $1 no reserve. I think with the combo of Bido and the Quality of the domain, it should do pretty well.

i've submitted a few pretty good names and i am waiting to hear back from Bido. How long after you submitted your name(s) did you get notified that your name would be auctioned?

It is run by prominent domain owners in the industry.

The reason its 1 domain a day to create transparency in the domain name aftermarket. Sure the site is largely domainer to domainer but it provides 1 premium domain a day and it is sure to expose that domain to as much exposure possible through out the stages of the auction process.

I have been there since the beginning and have seen it evolve in the short month that it has been around. Trust me the sales are getting larger and larger. Plus on top of that the talk is spreading and more and more people are joining in.

By having an auction format like this you get the fair market value of the domain which in return gives owners of similar names an idea of what their similar domain could potentially sell for. You see the Pizza.com "gold mine" people shot right in to when pizza.com was going for so much. It created transparency and almost an entire niche off of one sale.

IMO that is the ultimate goal of Bido.com, not to be a Sedo.com.

yes but, dont you have an agreed upon guarenteed price if it sells for less anyways? i thought its not like if it sells for 10.00 bucks, that is what you walk away with-

Good luck Yofie - as you may know, the average sale price so far has been $1.9K - see my post above - but debtnews.com went for 10K

Smashfactory - there is no reserve, so if it sells for $10 that is indeed what you get - minus 8% commission

did something change? i thought they had a price guarentee- if you agreed to the price set by bido as tthe sell price, and it did not meet that, bido paid the difference-

is that all of a sudden gone now?
