PARKED.COM - Official Thread!

i guess nothing... just any parking company has different revenues according to domains or keywords...

That really does not make any sense. Say I change the keyword on parked.com to a high paying keyword such as "Mesothelioma". Why should it matter what my domain is, as long as people click on the keyword. Almost all of my traffic is coming from the US.

For one thing, Parked has a Yahoo feed (among others) and Sedo has a Google feed. I don't know what your domain is, but if Yahoo doesn't like it for some reason, your ads might be served by some other provider. Or possibly the advertisers for that particular niche tend to advertise more in Google than in Yahoo. Or it's sheer coincidence. I frequently get clicks of $3.00 or more in Parked, and my highest ever was $8-something in Fabulous. I also get a lot of clicks under ten cents from those places as well.

I have domains that do better in Parked, domains that do better in Fabulous, and a few that do best in Namedrive. I could worry about why that is, or I could just put them where they work and rake in the cash. I prefer the latter.

lazukars, the goal for both Yahoo and the end advertiser is to get a highly targeted lead that converts. If my domain name is a type-in for hawaii vacations and my keywords are "mesothelioma", I may get a visitor to click through, but in most cases, this visitor is clicking through more out of curiosity than for an actual need. This in turn leads to zero conversions for the advertiser and a waste of ad budget.

This is why, parking companies would like members to use keywords based on their actual domain name rather than just throw in a high paying Kw.

Its not a matter of what they like. They will ban a person if they abuse this keyword match.

people think mesothelioma terms pay high, i used to think this but judging my mesothelioma terms, i have only seen a 30 cent clicks this year...besides, its been only a couple... last year 0.75 cents a click(which is good for me) but people assume your going get 14 dollar clicks on this terms...if i am doing something pm me and i would rep you some np dollars, lol

wish my mesothelioma and forex names would do well at parked, but there not...

Remember that mesothelioma lawsuits are still more US centric. So if you are getting traffic from Australia where you don't have a large number of advertisers, it won't pay as high.

lazukars - Varon was correct, your keyword should always be exactly what your domain is, at least in concept. If you have a domain that is hosting.com and you change the keyword to linux hosting, image hosting, or something similiar, we won't care. But if you change it to car sales, credit cards, or arizona dui attorney, we do care quite a bit, and usually you will either be terminated or lose the ability to modify your domains.

Thanks guys that sheds some light on the topic. Also my domains are starting to make around .20 per click. So I guess that is alright for now.

Yahoo is definitely loving parked.com pages right now. I have a generic 4 letter .com name that all I did was change the title and description with keywords about "working from home for free", and two weeks later it is in yahoo's top 10.

Currently, in yahoo, if you search for "work from home for free", my parked page is ranked 7th out of over 260 million. And the domain name is just a generic 4 letter .com without the keywords in the name. I know it wont last... but sheesh. It doesn't even have any content on it. Perhaps yahoo is trying to boost their earnings by giving priority to parked.com pages and increase their ad revenue indirectly..........

Be careful with that.
That may be against TOS.
I think you are ok if your domain is acronym of "work from home for free"
such as wfhf dot com.

From my understanding with generic names of this type, as long as you specify through title and description whatever basic keyword is being used it is generally fine. I know it's not ok if you have a name like FoodRecipes to use keywords like "lawyers" ect... but I am pretty sure in this case it is kosher. Especially since I have about 1500 names with them and only a few LLLL.com names which I just picked generic keywords, I don't think they mind.

ok. I will send him an email. But how are you supposed to decide on keywords for generic llll.com names? I literally only have 3 of them, out of about 1500 names....so I guess it is not that big of a deal to change it. I basically just picked a generic keyword set that a lot of people seem to be looking for on the net. Which is why I then specified through title and description what exactly the keyword was going to be... to make it more targeted to people looking for that.

I usually start out by just using the "search engine template" for those kinds of domains where it just shows a plain search bar and nothing else besides colors.

Then if you can find out what they are searching for by looking at the keyword searches then change it to that keyword. It helps if they are not looking for several different items that represent that domain, otherwise it won't work well with a single keyword.

Yes, I found the "Search Portal" template (my own request to Donny a long time ago ) to work really well for some unspecified domains.

Does Parked support .tc domains?

.tc domains should work just fine. At least as far as I know. It's everywhere it should be.

Thanks for pointing out the Search Portal template. I didn't know that existed.

Are there any other useful templates like that that differ in format from the standard Parked layout?

zenon - I think that's the only current one that you would be able to choose today. We have some others that may be available in the next few weeks.
