2. i read your big handreg post seabass - experience shows here - but what happened to domain tasting?

The big post I made was not about handregs, it was about buying domains at auction or directly from current owners that have never had a history of use whatsoever.

I have never tasted domains and have never done arbitrage.

I was not doing arbitrage and i am mostly using adult domains at Parked. I did not experience any significant changes in ctr or rpc. I am not sure what they use for adult domains but its not Yahoo i guess. So the problems you mention seems to be somewhat related to yahoo only. Just a novice guess.

Are you saying that kind of income is purely from parking these sites? Dude, you so have my attention. Now I know I am asking for trade secrets here and disclosing them might give you some competition, but...

How do you go about finding domains like this?

I am assuming you look up the existence of backlinks on domains that are for sale? Anything else? Gut feeling mojo, what?

(Dammit, I am doing it again. Hijacking yet another thread... :notme: )
Any domain name that make more than 3 cents per day is a
positive domain since it will make $10.95 - $8 (reg. fee) = $2.95 per year :D

Some of my domains go against some basic rules of domain
business such as very long and dash in them.

How to find them?
Here are some basic how to.

Do search using OVT. - how much OVT?
Google - how many search result pages?
Google - how many ads showing?
Backlinks - if it's dropping domains.
Archived pages - if it's dropping domains.

Let me show you extreme case.

For example, creditcard-balancetransfers.com
This made $34.33 since 2007-09-11.

21320 OVT for "credit card balance transfer".
Google - 745,000 for "credit card balance transfer" with quotes.
Many google ads for these keywords.
Backlinks - none since it's not dropped domain.
Archived - none since it's not dropped domain.

I wanted to get CreditCardBalanceTransfer.com, but, it's not available.
2nd choice, CreditCardBalanceTransfers.com - not available.
3rd choice, CreditCardsBalanceTransfer.com - not available.
4th choice, CreditCardsBalanceTransfers.com - not available.
5th choice, CreditCard-BalanceTransfer.com - not available.
Damn!
I usually quit about here, however, stats are too good to give up.
So...
I get CreditCard-BalanceTransfers.com
It seems I'll make about $70/year minus reg. fee.
Am I going to renew? Certainly!

It may not be much, but, what if you find 1,000 such domains?
That's $70K/year and it's not so little any more ;)
You can find 3 such domains per day, easy.
You'll have more than 1,000 such domains one year later.

CreditCards-BalanceTransfers.com is available.
This may make about $30/year? :D

Copper - great info. Thanks for sharing. :)

So copper, are there really some people out there who type creditcard-balancetransfers.com in the browser? Considering no backlink/archive and its impossible to compete against all those results with a parked page by means of SEO.

I would assume that search engines would place this high for people looking for "credit card balance transfers".

Seabass and Copper you guys are both awesome. Taking lots of notes over here and will definately try this great advice out. Kudos guys! :tu: :tu: :tu:

Damn, does anyone know of a program that strips all the ads and extraneous stuff from a forum page and then saves the meat of the discussion as a text file??

This would save my loads of time when I browse the forums.

Wow - I go to Vegas for a few days and we have 5 pages of posts. :) Not even sure where to begin. Met with Yahoo, arbitrage is still gone, I would expect to here a lot of other people complaining soon. We will also be implementing a new minimum TQ system as well, but that's in a few weeks.

For Parked.com, Or the parking industry as whole?

If for the entire industry, do you have a formal document stating so?

arbitrage is supposed to be gone from every Yahoo based parking company.

The TQ system will be across the board as well, this is for Yahoo.

Er, and what happens if one or more if your domains don't meet the minimum TQ? :o

I doubt if there were any direct typein.
As for traffic?

Not much traffic, but, consistent.
RPC is not bad.

Registered on 2007-Sept-11
Started getting traffic on Sept. 19th.
So, forget about domain tasting, lol.

Since then...
Total visit: 63
Clicks: 14
CTR: 22.22%
Average RPC: $2.45 ($0.72 to $6.08)

You need to find high RPC keywords for
such long, dashed and ugly domain.
As I said before, this is one extremely bad domain :D

Don't ask me for other high paying keywords.
Look'em up yourself ;)
http://www.cwire.org/highest-paying-search-terms
And there are plenty more such sites. Just google it.

Or use OVT+adwords tools.

OVT not working?

Do not go to my domain, please.
There isn't anything special, so, nothing to see ;)

DADomains - It's not on a domain level, it's an account level.

What are the chances to see improved site building modules coming soon? In order to compensate for lost opportunities, which are certainly felt in the parked.com bottom line as well (so i would assume), what's going to be the counter measures?
If nothing is on the docket for quick release to counteract, we're not going to look too good here.
So far i haven't heard anything other than "it's supposed to be a blanket action by yahoo". The main term that irritates me here is "supposed".
If we're meant to take that hit and should look forward, then we need to have something to look forward to and continue to work with. At present, i don't see anything happening.
Donny, what's the recourse? (it's the 5th time i'm asking the same question, this is getting a bit redundant)

Add On:
My RPC is dwindling as well. I was hoping/under the impression that the RPC should stabilize and increase from here on out, i see the exact opposite.
Also, how can the QScore increase with lesser traffic, and lesser CTR than ever before?!

Mike,
According to our TOS and the TOS of all Yahoo based parking companies it does say that paid traffic is not allowed. It's always said that for at least 5 years now, the problem is that Yahoo got a little relaxed on their rules and thus arbitrage was created. Sure we felt it when Yahoo told us and everybody that they had to stop. Arbitrage was great while it lasted, I don't see any alternative to it anytime soon.

We were told that arbitrage must stop by all Yahoo based parking companies, if some of the others are still allowing it, I can only complain to Yahoo and see what they can do. We have moved on from arbitrage and have already started working on new tools to make things better.

You haven't seen anything happening because everything was only shut down 10 days ago and most of my team where at the Traffic show trying to figure out what are our options going forward.

We all knew that arbitrage would not last forever, I just never thought Yahoo would be the one to stop it. Going forward, only time will tell what will happen going forward. Things are changing everyday in this business, traffic is still king. If you have traffic you control your own destiny. If you have to buy traffic, right now you are SOL.

Donny
LOL

As a stress-relieving measure, somebody may want to provide a definition for SOL in Wikipedia - I notice the sense in which it was (presumaby) used is the only one that doesn't have it's own Wikipedia article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sol_(disambiguation)

Donny

That about sums it up for me :P

However, if parked.com domains can stay in indexes like yahoo and google ( with custom content of course ) then my future looks very bright at parked. :sold:

How about if we add live RSS feeds to the custom content?
...
That should REALLY help with SEO.
