Hello guys just looking around and it seems that Radio Namepros has gone out of business. My name is Brent and I really want to introduce an idea that I have been thinking about for around a month now. I am very interested in radio life since my brother is a dj for the local radio station here in Virginia where I live. I love the radio life that he gets. Anyways the idea is simple. I could do it radio station style actually. My brother has a program that he has on the computer that you can upload music, voice clips, etc on and play them to the internet. I would use my microphone and the program to make a newly version of Radio Namepros. The breakdown would be as follows:

Section 1: Introduction to Radio Namepros and list of what will happen during the show.

Section 2: Some music, talking, and radio ads or whatnot.

Section 3: Interview #1 with a special guest (breaks every once in a while with music)

Section 4: Music, talking, ads, etc.

Section 5: Interview #2 with a special guest (breaks every once in a while with music .. if needed).

Section 6: Closing comments and 2 last songs.

Total running time: 1 1/2 hours or more..

Music could be requested by messengers, PMs, Phone calls to my cell phone, email, etc.

Just looking to get this back up. Could even create a nice website for it also to promote it. Looking for feedback so go ahead :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The thing is, Radio Namepros isn't a music station, its voice only...discussions and news from the domain industry. There was a website before (radionamepros.com)

All that would still happen still. Just some music added in to "spice" it up.

Honestly I agree with him, music would allow you too think about the topic while listening to some music.

The only problem with that is, NamePros is demographically divided amongst 30+ countries which have different tastes in music and language. I could understand doing different languages for major ethnicities here on NamePros but unless we have people who speak those languages fluently those people will feel left out.

Just my three cents,,

English is spoken (well typed) by everyone here, so it would be easy to have an english "radio namepros" since everyone can type it they must surely be able to understand it.

Another thing is guest idea isnt bad, but you'll need industry news. Also you should have the songs to be 2 particluar styled genres i.e hip-hop for some and like rock and roll for others, so it caters for everyone (well the majority) and then the next show or later on in the show do r&b and whatever for example.

I would easily take requests from members on the board that way that members music that they want to hear would be played. Then if I did not get enough requests in a show then I would pick up the Top Hits List and get some music off of that to play, but I would most rely on members on NamePros to give some requests.

In the early meetings we held, music was voted a no no.

Yep! I wouldn't mind doing a show, now i have a half decent mic.

I think, we need to make sure NPQ is still up for the leadership role. If not see who else is.

Ok so what if music was a no no back when the station first started. I myself would like to listen to some music during a show like this. I think it would only add to the station and the feel of it. Also I believe that it would raise ratings and the such if there was music. No downfall in my view of music being played. I really want to do this idea and this radio station for NamePros and I believe that I would be able to add a lot to it. At the least let me do one show and see how it goes and what people think and say about the way that I would do it.

So you want to organize and fund the music licensing?

My brother has a radio station program where you can organize different songs, audio, etc into a radio station and record. So essentially I have already funded it. I also have LimeWire Pro so all I would need now is a bunch of requests for music and I would sort music into one folder for say Radio 1 (Radio Namepros Show 1) and then put them all together. I got Skype the other day so I would need interviews and the such to get it all together and in order.

You aren't reading/listening .... You can't just play Music covered by Copyright , Despite any software or program you have.

What do you mean? I know I paid for LimeWire Pro so I better be able to.

Read up on music licensing and the legalities of it all.

It's alot of work and money to play a few tracks, when i could open Itunes or whatever and play my own music.

People listen for the content, not music.

My 2pence.

I'd be interested in interviewing a "pro" or something if NP plans to have a show anytime soon. :p

The money for that goes to Limewire not the artists/ music production companies. Downloading any copyrighted music (which is most music) through Limewire (even if it is the pro version) it illegal - even if it is just for personal use.

To use music not for personal use - such as on a radio namepros show you would have to get in contact with the music production companies and pay extra royalties (which aren't cheap) to them for them to allow you to use their music on your show. The radio station your brother works for would be doing this.

I have a Headphone and a mic. So, I would love to host Shows. I also talked to NPQ about this and she said, I would get a chance when Radio NP is back again.
I want RAdio NP to be back again with a Bang. :)

Cheers Namepros!!

I know of ways to obtain cheaper blanket licensing, I DJed and we used my license back at the Christmas Party. If any of the RNP staff want to know more, PM me.

Indie performerers are often happy to help, usually free too!

I guess the question should be; will Radio Namepros remain a service that is provided as is, or can it be turned into a commercial venture?
If commercial venture, i'm sure the appropriate ad support can be created.
Station programming/music selection is a different story then, but also easily doable, should be done on a professional level, though.

There are plenty of options to turn RNP into a very successful and revenue generating application. Licensing is certainly a topic that needs to be looked at, but it's also a relatively simple problem to overcome. The ultimate question is: Should RNP be a standalone station or should RNP collaborate?

I think RNP should just stay for the content. We shouldn't play music.
plus not everyone is into every kind so its hard to cater for everyone.

I think you all would agree we all listened for the content and the gosh around namepros :p

have u guys wondered how much bandwidth wouuld be eaten up by like 3000 people streaming all at once, 24 hrs a day?
I don tknow if that would be a problem, but that issue just cropped up in my mind.

its only roughly a 20minute show.

Well I thought I would put in my two cents here. We have talked about having RNP be an income producing thing, however we have yet been able to have a consistent number of shows. So until that can be done, then there isn't really anyway we can have advertisers etc.

We have been working on getting things in order to have a show. Our sponsor (he won it at the charity auction, has never been done before) finally has his site up and ready. This means that now we can get things put together and get the show recorded and put out.

I am more than willing to get this all going again, the problem was that last time everyone was all for RNP and then as time went on people had other things to take care of (myself included) and RNP had to get set off to the side.

We are looking for members to be on the team who are willing to be active, but understand if this is going to be a consistent thing, then we need members that not only have the time this month, but every month until we decide we no longer want to have RNP.

I hope that helps a little. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions or ideas. What we are thinking of at this time will be one show and one host (me), with several corespondents (still searching for) who speak for 3-5 min on their topic. Basically, the host would be introducing the corespondents and having interviews with various domain related individuals. The whole show will be between 20-35 min.

hmmm, lets see. How was the first interview initiated?
Oh yea, I remember.. NPQ asked me to talk.
Why not just ask others the same thing?

Perhaps a start would be an interview with the MOTM each month.

Or... 4 star members talking about the pos and neg of changes thru the years...

This isnt rocket science, there is a huge pool of highly respected members that would be glad to share an hour putting together a 20 min interview. Just ask.

Some members I'd like to hear from...
Cera
Labrocca
OutlawBiker (or any of the cartel members)
wot
JBerryhill
etc....

Or members that started posting for NP$ to get their first domain and now are domainers true and through!

How about RJ or Chris or Mark... Jeff!
Get to know the pillars of our community.

What is the problem here?

or not...
