GoDaddy Customer Service Is Clueless and Useless

SleepingGiant said:
Terrible customer and technical support. They don't have a clue. And what does a race car drive know about domain names??? Don't use if you're trying to snatch up a name that is recently released back to the public either. You'll have to wait at least a day because they pull from cache and the domain name search shows the name as not being available but the name shows as being available (and registerable) on other registrars web sites.

I agree. Their customer service sucks. Horribly sucks. I cant even begin to tell you how bad it is to request even the most simple of things. Forget it if you have a real big problem - they are clueless is correct!!! :td:

Godaddy is ok I guess.

Their support is appauling and sometimes the propogation process is long and loborious but the prices are very inviting.

Also it's about time they stepped into the Web 2.0 world.

Positives:
- price and coupons (good for beginners who otherwise would pay more)
- the fact that it is the biggest registrar. I use them to flip my domains because everybody knows Godaddy

Negatives:
- their ads (very annoying, with that .name promotion and other offers)
- the push of domains. It is not easy.
- the 60 day rule with transferring out (the main thing why I try to avoid them). They count those 60 days even when you modify domain contact).
- the whole site is not clean, but full with promotions and Bob Parson's blog etc. I like simple registrars, here I feel they don't want to throw offers on me.
- customer support is not that helpful. Answer time is quite good, but basically they are clueless about domaining. And they have automated responses. I feel like they do not even read the emails, just answer them.

Actually I've had some of the best customer support with GoDaddy. Extremely helpful and always happy to give me a good deal if I ask for one. I've dealt with them on the phone about 10 times and would give them an A grade for 9/10 calls. Better than any other registry I've dealt with.

Good prices for domains. You can join their special customer program to get even bigger discounts.

Decent control panel to manage domains and settings.

Overall very good

The best thing that I like about Godaddy is it's price. The worst thing is the checkout process where they make you wade through pages of ads before you can actually checkout and pay. Guess all the ads must be working for them as some people must buy their extra services, otherwise they wouldn't have so many other services ad pages.

Good for newbies like me

For someone new to this like me, I find GoDaddy easy to use& not so intimidating. Patient service ( even when I ask many questions) and prices are good.

Run for the hills!

I am a serious player with over 1000 domains and although years ago I felt safe with GoDaddy, I no longer do. I had several valuable domains stolen/hijacked from my account, and pushed into another godaddy account, and godaddy basically wanted to turn away and do nothing, which of course, favored the thief! Their security stinks, their customer service has gone way down hill, and their founder thinks he's the best thing since sliced white bread. If you have any valuable domains at all, rethink before keeping them at this registrar, seriously.

Can you prove the domain theft? What exactly happened and what was the outcome? Poor customer service is one thing, and I wont dispute that their customer service stinks, but domain theft??? I have as many names as you have which makes me a very concerned customer as well. Please share with the forum what exactly happened so those who wish to can make a better informed decision of what to do with their domains. Thanks.

I use Godaddy and I really like their service as it's the cheapest one that I've found. Their management interface has been improving over the years too.

I have been using it from last 3 years.

Am always excited to register new ones and renew the older ones due to their Coupon codes system.

No glitches at all. :)

Support at Godaddy is one of the worst features of that site. I have many domains registered there as with other registrars, but only Registerfly's debacle let me learn that renewing domains at GoDaddy is not as expensive as I ever thought.

During the past few months I discovered that if you wait until the last week before your renewal is due, you can do it for $6.95 and lower and/or get extra discount on all items in your cart regardless quantity.

Pretty Good Registrar!

GoDaddy is a great registrar offering lots of features (e-mail and URL forwarding, DNS management, etc.) The interface is very annoying. Customer service via e-mail often gives canned speeches which don't address the issue(s), however phone support is much better, but does not offer toll-free. Also, the inability to transfer a domain which has been changed within the last 60 days can be a nuisance.

Reliable, Affordable, Controversial

There are many things at GoDaddy that I don't like, and most are already covered above.

Sometimes however, I feel we domainers don't recognize how much GoDaddy helps us just by being there.

Breaks WHOIS

They break WHOIS for domains with them. Why should people have to visit their ad infested pages just to get the WHOIS of a domain?

The Price aint cheap, but still it's a good registrar

the only thing that makes godaddy a second choice is that the price a bit to high compare to other domain name registar

Cluttered interface, canned & robotic support. Cheap

Cluttered interface makes it hard to manage a domain portfolio, canned & robotic support. Cheap prices though!

Awkward to use

Can't stand them. Takes forever to do any simple thing; got to page through screenfuls of confusing offers to get any little thing done. Prices are not great. Got to go to them for whois stuff is another pain.

Good prices, no problems with them

I've been with GoDaddy for numerous years now and I've had no problems. Make sure you search for the GoDaddy thread on NamePros to find the coupon codes to save a few bucks. :)

so far, so good

I now have five domains with them and i have had no trouble with them what so ever. I highly recommend thier services as a domain registar. Some say the prices are too high ,but you can find coupon codes all over the internet for godaddy. They even some very good deals from time to time. Thier customer service rep even called me once just to make sure i was happy with my purchase. I rate 9/10 and say give them a try. :)
