If you are going to make on site and it is your first site I don't see why you need a vps? Also I would say for sure go with http://dotnamehost.com because they will help you with everything at no cost even 3rd party stuff etc. That is also my host and don't want to spam but some use my host here and are happy. Though we don't offer vps on site but pm me if you want and I can see what I can do for a vps.

Polurnet are very helpful., but I have to diagree with the earlier comment about uptime. All too frequently when I check on sites and the server status indicators wthin the WHM panel, there appears to be load problems and sites are loading very slowly (nothing to do with content, as I've compared many sites of my own and others) This is in fact the case this evening too.

This obviously isn't doing the credibility of my sites any good, although I have to say that I am not using a semi/full dedicated server.

I will persevere with Polurnet for a little while longer however, as this could just be a poor patch they are going through, as Ive only been with them for a few months now.

I'm just disappointed with the frequency of server load issues.

Good luck and let the forum know how you get on

Cheers

LBM

Every server is different, and as we have several, performance can obviously vary. Nevertheless, most, if not all, servers have had high uptime within our guarantee for the past year. You can't always expect low server load while paying a few dollars per month on a shared/reseller account, so keep in mind that your expectations need to be reasonable. On the other hand, we do pride ourselves with strict anti-overselling policies and low sites-per-server ratio, which other hosts do not offer at all.

In general, if there is slow performance, it is an isolated incident caused by abuse, sites exceeding memory/CPU limits or combination of other factors. Thus, we encourage customers to report them to our support department, but to generalize without long-term proof or evidence on a public forum is neither an effective nor proper way to address your concerns if they are legitimate.

Polur, with all due respect, a client has a right to say what the service is like and they should not be some attacked because they're experiecing some issues with it. No host is perfect although you and I both know we try to be as much as we are able. Obviously, a client has no reason to badmouth your services and LBM has enough of a reputation to know he's not a drifter looking for trouble.

Every hosting company good at certain field. I can say that:
Hostgator.com good at shared webhosting.
Webhostingbuzz.com well known as a semidicated provider
Server4you.com goodin dedicated servers providing.
Onthespothosting.net good at reseller web hosting
Etc.
I just want tsay that threre isn't good company at all. Each company is unique but not the best for everyone.

Hey Meeya,
I just started my first site too. I went for the hosting service jerometan search the name. His hosting for Np$ is unmatched. Its extremely fast and I got it setup in about 5 minutes.

He charges 15 Np for one month for 500Mb which is excellent along with newbie support :D

I'm back to say I've finally signed up with onthespothosting.net, so far they acted flawlessly: instant setup and helpful support stuff, I promise to update my experience with them. I also know no host is perfect, but I hope to be that"happy customer" :)

Thanks for your rational approach and support CrazyTech

I have to say I do not agree with the comments of Polurnet and I do have a right to air my opinions on this or any other forum regarding services being provided. What is the point of a forum if not to share experiences.

I should add that I am still with Polurnet and I stick with my earlier comment that I would remain with them for sufficient time to make a considered decision. I have not bad mouthed them, but simply given an opinion, an element of which was very positive I thought

Thanks again

LBM

http://www.dreamhost.com <- They are excellent!

So far with Dreamhost I have had no downtime, and the value for money is excellent.
They also offer SSH accsess, which is great. I have set up rsync to sync my computer up to the host, backup all my files. Since they offer me so much diskspace, much larger than my hardrive.
SSH also allows you to download scripts directly from the server and un-extract them there.
How to use SSH: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/SSH#Common_Tasks_in_SSH
