I'm doing an article on the domain industry and the enom business model.

If you want to answer these questions you might be quoted in the article.

1. Is the enom reseller business model being used to defraud domain buyers?

2. Do you think if a buyer of an enom reseller domain name knows they will have to pay up to 30 dollars to renew a domain name, when almost every registrar is now 8 dollars, that they would agree to buying a domain name that is locked in a high renewal fee structure that enom promotes with it's resellers if such a fact was properly disclosed to them by the enom reseller they are buying from?

3. Do you think that since anyone can get a registration for 8 bucks and chage at a number of registrars with no account balance requirements as enom requires is a better deal for anyone who wants to register a single or relatively few domain names?

4. Do you think enom resellers are properly disclosing to domain buyers their high renewal rates?

5. Do you think the whole enom pyramid structure promotes honesty or deceit?

6. Do you agree that the best place for a person to register say one or two domain names is not enom?

7. Would you agree that enom is set up to make money for resellers and is not friendly to an end user with small registration needs?

8. Who do you use to handle the majority of your domain name registrations?

9. How long does it usually take enom to answer your via email?

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
1) No and the word "libel" comes immediately to mind.

2) Such a buyer is not "locked in" the name can be moved easily to another registrar.

3) No, but it's a matter of free choice.

4) Rates of registration, renewal and transfer are clearly published.

5) It does not promote deceit, it is a simple business enterprise for some - anyone wanting to buy a domain can select any registrar at the price they want.

6) No, simple Enom reseller or retail accounts are excellent value, readily available from resellers and have many more facilities than most registrars.

7) No, it can be used as a franchise to sell at a profit (as with any business and many other registrars) or it can be used by small buyers for the odd domain here and there (see 6).

8) Enom.

9) Normally within 24 hours and often less.

Thanks, and the question was not libel. I suppose you think anyone questioning the business practice of domain resellers is libel?

Anyway, your comments are helpful.

Thanks again.

PS I suggest you look on the limited access pages that some enom resellers are setting up for domain names they control and sell. There is no disclosure as to any prices.

hmm, for a news site that promotes bill.com and UFO's, I must say you need to "thread" (pardon the pun) very carefully

Enom isn't a scam. I have bought several domain names from Enom and all have worked perfectly. :D

whopping = $30

I pay 8.14 in my retail account to reg a name for a year. Dont' really want to pay $30+ a pice for renewals.

Nope, just push the name over to a lower priced account and renew it. You can push it back to your $30/yr account afterwards.

I dont think he seriously meant "scam" but to look for a word that fits this he used scam...I would think it seems more unjustifiable...because it does indeed help the reseller earn some extra money, and not really help out the end users now a day.

enom is most certainly not a scam. I have been using it heavily and can vouch for the fact that it is an amazing registrar. As with everything, you will look far less stupid if you do your research before spouting uninformed speculation.
