You wanted a name that sounds like it has already earned a place, but isn't a dictionary word everyone else is fighting over.

Merak is a star in the Big Dipper that, with its neighbour Dubhe, points toward the North Star; in Turkish and Bosnian, merak means curiosity or a quiet passion, and in Indonesian it is the peacock.

Customers remember short, two-syllable names that are easy to say aloud and hard to misspell. A name with a real meaning behind it gives you a story to tell on an about page, a pitch deck or a packaging label, and a made-up word can't do that.

Where it could go
• A stargazing app that guides beginners from the Big Dipper to everything else
• A travel journal brand for people who go places out of curiosity, not for the checklist
• A feather-light skincare or fragrance line with a peacock on the bottle
• A discovery platform that points founders toward the one idea worth following
