Making NP$ more visible, like they used to be.

NP$ are/were a good way to pay people small to medium amounts without fees, and even pay for some domain auctions. Our NP$ balance used to be highly visible, and even people with 0 NP$ would know they exist.

The link up in the drop down menus is small and easy to miss/ignore (i.e "NP$: Forum Cash" would really get attention), and once you do click:
The NP$ exchange used to show our balance, today it is not nearly as easy to find how many NP$ we have.
One of the best reasons for using this forum is rotting away, why?
.
I suggest putting the balance back up near "welcome username your last visit was...." and/or
Did it used to show under our avatar(?), that would be really good.
Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Thanks for the suggestion, this is something we'll look more at as we move forward in future updates. ;)

Would really like to see this pushed up in the spotlight.

Unfortunately I don't think bringing back the visibility of NP$ will help increase it's utilization that much. It was the collapse/closure of the NP$ Bank that brought the NP$ currency to a bit of a halt since people were no longer able to buy and sell NP$ to the bank. People felt more comfortable with using NP$ when you could always sell your NP$ back to the bank instantly at a guaranteed rate as well as to other members. But now with the bank no longer there, you have to rely on what other members are willing to pay for your NP$ if anything at all. That increases the risk of dealing with NP$ all together. Back when the bank was open and the NP$ economy was thriving, 1 NP$ would equal approx. $0.023 . But now, you are lucky if you can get another member to buy 1 NP$ from you for $0.009 according to the current exchange. That is a drop in the economy's exchange rate of about 60%.

Supply and demand.. there literally is no demand for NP$ except for nostalgia, bar the odd exception.

Once upon a time, NP$ were a cornerstone of this site and it really did drive engagement on the site. A lot of people arrived at the site thinking they'd earn some NP$ and buy their first domain etc. and ended up staying permanently.

Unfortunately, from what I'm aware, a limited number of people ruined this and now it's pretty much inevitable that NP$ will fade, slowly but surely, into the dark recesses of history. I would imagine the only reason it's still around is to appease those with large amounts of NP$'s left, as obviously the owner can't afford to buy them all back.

Thought I'd share the Saturday night misery :bah: :xf.love:
