As far as I know, no matter the industry, brokering is not illegal as long as you stay within the boundaries and away from fraud.

As for your present situation, you don't need to worry about anything at all. Just make sure you get your standard share of 10% from the sale amount.

Hope this helps.

The domain business isn't regulated in any way. That means that you don't have to fulfill any legal requirements in order to start your brokerage service.
Legally speaking, there won't be any difference between you and all these well known brokerage services (Media Options,Domain Holdings...).You will do fine as long as you pay all your taxes and don't incur in bad business practices (Toby Clements).

If it is just a platform for matching buyers with sellers, and you are operating a legal business, using a legitimate escrow service, then you are okay. But it's best that you consult with legal professional who will write a "terms and conditions" agreement specific to your activities-this is important.

If you plan on providing the escrow service as well, then you will run into legal issues. There are requirements that need to be met for providing such services.

The only thing that comes to mind as a potential issue is that some TLD's have restrictions when it comes to selling a domain so always keep up to date with the current rules of the TLD's you are brokering within. This shouldn't be a problem for you but could be for your client.
