IDNs went the way of the Dodo & mobi

IDNs had a good run for a few years.
These days even one character Chinese names don't pull any money.
It was fun to watch Wot sell his Chinese for a good yen. But those days came and went. The world went the other way.
DNF banned them, even though DNF Owner Adam Dicker at one point owned 2,500 of them.
Moshe from Israel and Russia who bought Moscow Москва.com
for $211,000 can't unload it even for a fraction of what he paid just a few years back. He claims to invest $2.5 into IDNs.
IDNF.org has only 4 visitors who just trade sad stories, and no domains.
Thew biggest proponent of IDN, Rubber Duck from England, had to run away from the creditors as far away as Czechoslovakia. At one point he amassed 8,000 names. There are rumours of him shepherding sheep in the mountains.
Steve C. from Canada was hospitalized after a suicide attempt. He's out of $30G.
Mulligan, another huge investor from Singapore, reverted to hacking.
Very, very sad end :(

What a bloodbath.

I had no idea. No joking here, right?

Tens of millions of $$ wasted. This disaster is probably worse than mobi :(

I wouldn't write them off just yet. Some pay their way in parking, so there's little downside to those. Still, they're going against the growing trend of international English adoption (or at least Romanization of names). But the game's not over yet, as long as renewal fees aren't killing you.

I won a dozen or so IDNs at the auctions in the last several years. Each one went for way more than $100. Today, I can't get give them away.
