Well it appears as though it's happening. The launch of .land, .bike, .this, and .that is here and many more to come.

Show off your new .whatevers here and discuss why these are or are not good investments. Keep it cool, calm, and productive :)

I'll start with my new regs... absolutely none!

ganja.land

Interesting and descriptive name for a recreational marijuana business located in Colorado or Oregon Washington State.

Wouldn't want anyone in Oregon to get arrested because of bad info.

:) :O

Nice!

This is the only new extension that I found myself searching for a few names.

It is Colorado and Washington state that have legalized - although Washington is dragging its feet in opening the shops.

I have to admit I did not see the potential in .Land, thinking only of real estate. But I am sitting this out, I'm already as diversified as I would like with my .Mobis, perhaps now they will finally get some interest. Maybe.

Oops! I corrected it in my post.

Accent, I'm thinking that if these new gTLDs gain traction (and that is an emphatic "if") established TLDs, including ccTLDs, could very well hitch a ride. I have some nice .im domains.

It's wait and see.

I am thinking about one in the .plumbing space, but find the $26.99 registration fee a little much for such a speculative purchase. I would be buying it for my own use, not resale.

there should be 35% off coupons floating around. If your a plumber you would make the reg fee's in 15 mins on the job. :)

Yeah, talk about a red flag!

All his other reg's are solid generic keywords, but that one sticks out like a red thumb. Free tip: Drop it.

Building websites is all I know how to do. I bought these domains with the sole intention to develop them.

I wouldn't know the first thing about domain investing.

Check back in a couple of years my friend.

NEVER heard that before. That's awesome!

We normally do check back and 99% of the time it's bad news for investors of these types. Cheers to you making the 1% that profits!

Just 2-3 weeks each... that's all they need for solid a development effort

It certainly brings back memories for me. Many years ago I decided that politicians would see the value of domains in the next election cycle. So I went on a mission to acquire as many domains as I could that started with the state abbreviation followed by GOP.com. NMGOP.com for New Mexico, for example. I actually got most states and was able to fill in a few with dot nets.

I even contacted Forbes Magazine to see if they would like to do a story about this killer idea. "Why would anyone want a domain?" (This was in 1999).

Needless to say that idea didn't work out to well. I did learn there is nothing like a political site to attract the most ugly, nasty, stupid, bigoted comments I have ever had the misfortune to read, so I guess it wasn't a complete waste of time.

Good luck with yours.

From what I have gathered and I am by no means an expert is that the gTLD is not part of the actual domain address so basically thehonest is the actual domain name.

I owned pet.land as well and didn't have any issues ;)

Nice try. You only registered thehonest because you knew it was a company already. I never heard of it but when I checked out it, surprise, it had to do with pet food, which went along with all the other ones you regged.

As far as petland, maybe not any issues yet. That's a company as well. That's just one of the many problems with some of these new ones.

TM holders will likely send you letter(s) insisting you hand over the names. You can hire a lawyer and perhaps keep the names, perhaps not. However, don't expect the TM holders to pay you for the names. They have experience with .info, .biz, etc., and know these new extensions will probably go nowhere. You'll be out reg fees plus a few hundred bucks attorney's fees. Not a big deal, but don't expect to tempt any TM holder to pay lots of money for your domains. As with .info and biz, if they can take it from you utilizing intimidation, they will. If they can't then they'll forget about it and probably not bother you again.

TM holders seem willing to pay $$$$$$$$$$$$ only for .com names. That conclusion is based on what I read at the domain "reported sales" monuments, and the tracking of various .com names over the years. Some .com names trade hands but the respective sales are not reported to the usual domain web rags. Y'all know what I'm talking about here.

If you develop, hallelujah.

I would say that UDRP does recognize the existence of "hacks". I'm fairly sure that a court would also.

Because people want real example:

TESCO was awarded TES.CO

But something even more concrete:

The applicable top-level suffix in the domain name (e.g., ".com") would usually be disregarded under the confusing similarity test (as it is a technical requirement of registration), except in certain cases where the applicable top-level suffix may itself form part of the relevant trademark.

That comes from WIPO - can't get much closer to the source.

With 29 of those still available as .COM domains, I'm not sure why you'd choose the more expensive, less well known .GURU for something like Poodes.guru instead of PoodlesGuru.com.

That's a lot of websites for you to develop. I see that you just joined the forum this month. Honestly, it's too early for you to be putting so many eggs into one basket with so many holes in it.

Save some money and spend more time on research, people!

You bought one genuinely good one, though:
