Can anyone recommend some good alternatives to DAN that don't have such high commission fees? DAN user interface is still nice, but Godaddy really screwed the pooch with increase on commission fees from 9% to 15% and 25% for not using their nameservers. I guess that's no surprise. Too bad DAN sold out for an exit paycheck. Bummer.

I guess Efty is in a prime spot to add DAN users like me who are looking to jump ship.

Any ideas or recommendations? Thanks!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I'm using Dynadot, they have a 5% commission fee, and you get a landing page.

The only issue is that other registrars don't show that they're for sale when you look up the domains.
Are the landing pages ad free? And have you had success with those landers?

Isn't there a 5% fee for the payouts?

The landing page is free. No offers so far, but I start using it a week or so ago.

Yes there is, and I didn't know of this.

So a 5% on the sales, and another 5% on the payout, making a total of 1 - 0.95^2 = 0.0975 = 9.75% or roughly 10%.

And there is the added issue that for new customers, I believe they still cannot take a payout for six months.
The issue of Dynadot, NameCheap, and GD payouts was discussed in Payout Discussion.

I'll have to look into different options then. How about Sav? I heard someone mention that their commission rates are low.

Still, I have yet to hear about whether Sav has additional payout fees and payout limitations. Does anyone know out there whether there are any other hidden charges, including even transaction fees with cc use, paypal, etc?

The landing page is being blocked by Adblocker and Firefox is blocking it even without a Adblocker.
Not here I just clicked it on Firefox.

Using Bodis with Escowdotcom integration can be an option i guess.

First you need to close 2nd tier ads and choose only "Sales Lander Only" option from the settings.

And when you type the domain name on browser, it directly redirect you to Escrow with a clean UI. as below

Bodis doesn't charge any fee for domain sales and Escrow fees are extremely low compare with other options and you have the option to let buyer pay for the fees.

Note: I have no affiliation with Bodis or Escrow, i just think this can be a smart option with the lowest fees.

Very interesting. Did not see such an effect before. With adblock, I saw an empty page (30 seconds or so) and then it was forwarded to another bodis-powered page, with ads from BING - must be 2nd tier (were not blocked by some reason), and custom forsale top link to namecheap.
Thanks for pointing out again the limitations that the ad blockers place on the Bodis-related landers.
I was able to discuss with Namecheap a more direct way to have the marketplace listings directly show up.

If you're curious, you can take a look now at the same domain (AmericaMed.com), and see the effect of doing the URL forwarding directly through Namecheap. It's an interesting "lander-alternative." Now at least the ad blockers presumably won't be an issue.

I didn't realise that Dan had sold out to GD. I think I'll switch back to using the Name Silo marketplace

Did you also use the NameSilo landers with their marketplace before? And were you successful with this?

I'm considering to keep all names that are BIN $5K or less at Afternic and rest will be removed from Afternic dan.com. May use efty.com (since I have grandfathered free account) or my own landing page.

I am very upset about the DAN fee increase but I will not remove any domains.
I'm willing to pay high fees if Afternic/DAN network is able to sell my domains.
Certainly all the leads / landing pages / for sale links now are redirected to DAAZ (while before all was redirected to DAN)

Waiting Afternic Godaddy white label marketplace.
Or usable public domain name collection link with categories logo uploads etc.

This is the worst approach! At least keep everything directed to Dan and pay 15%. What you're doing now will just lead to 25% commission

Im in the beta for Efty and very satisfied.

Some examples

XRGaming.com
3Dcube.com
ImmersiveCollectibles.com

@Doron Vermaat is doing fantastic job imo

Are they all processed through Efty?

The 3dCube example indicated it was being processed through Dan/godaddy. The other two do not indicate who is doing the processing of the request. That might help for added reassurance that the website is legit.
One really nice feature of all of them is that you as the seller can have your own email address directly there. That' s great if someone has questions before proceeding. The other advantage, when I put in a test offer, is that it required verification email first. That's always good to see. What does appear to be lacking is additional information about the offer process.

So, it seems the beta does need a bit more work.

Thanks for sharing the examples.

P.s. the test email was sent as a test. So please ignore this!

You can choose to process through dan (5%) or escrow.
I chose dan in that case.

Please explain what additional info is missing and where exactly on the landing page.

3Dcube.com, with the Dan/goDaddy logo is the only one indicating who is processing the transaction.

A privacy policy is missing from all three. If Efty is providing the lander, wouldn't it make sense for them to provide this on all of them?
It's unclear on all of them whether one is directly contacting the owner. While the one lander mentions the owner of the domain and nicely provides an email address for direct contact, it even is not explicit that that is to whom the contact form is going.
And when submitting an offer, there's no clear indication of when to expect to hear back.

Overall, they seem OK as landers, if they get the privacy policy statements in place.

1)3dcube is the only one with a BIN so no need to indicate that in the other ones.
2)all modular.
I can add my email address to any of them

Can the privacy policy also be added? Nowadays, this may be all the more essential. Due to so much spam being related to domain marketing, customers may want to understand up front how their information will be used.

For Bodis, I always appreciated that their sales landers provides that link. That adds to the credibility of the website, even if it is only a lander.

've been thinking about your response to learning of Dynadot's combined commission and payout of 10%. If they can actually brings the sales for the 10% commission, that isn't so bad--certainly compared to 15-25%!

I'm into my first full week of having virtually all of my domains going directly to the Namecheap marketplace for the buynow button. For the US residents, having only a 12% total commission+ Payout is still competitive, especially if they are very reliable with their promise of 5 days for receipt of sales funds.

Dynadot did intrigue me as an alternative, though, given the overall popularity recently especially on the Namepros annual favorite registrar poll. Please look at your options carefully before abandoning your original plan with them.

Have you done some kind of testing?
According to Reza from Dan.com in a twitter post he mentioned more then 60% of sales happened on landing page.
Why pay 15% if we can do same with Daaz.com for only 5%.

If living in the U.S., there is more simplicity dealing with marketplaces here. I believe there are issues of foreign tax potentially needing to be withheld, as well as potential currency conversion and other fees. Has anyone in the U.S. dealt with those issues with Daaz or a similar overseas marketplace?
