@Rob Monster - i think you are not aware such things happens within Epik. May be I am wrong. Any answer?

Last year for the first time I thought to use Epik backorder service so i ordered PaintandCanvas.com. Later Epik send me email that it was missed and refunded my money.
However, i noticed it was not missed but it was catched by Epik. They didn't honoured the backorder service, not ever started any auction.

Maybe their internal staff has registered it, not sure. However, the domain is still now with Epik.

Since then I lost faith in Epik and will never go for any service with epik (except new domain registration).

Hello,

We are sorry to hear that you're disappointed in our backorders, however we do not believe anything out of ordinary went wrong with this domain.

As seen on the WHOIS of this domain, it's creation date is 2021-04-07 18:16:44, and the domain has been with Epik since 2021 as well, and it appears you also had your backorder in place since the same year.

I see the domain is currently renewed until 2023 and the last update was on 2021-09-16 19:36:46, which further suggests, but does not confirm (since an update can be a simple nameserver change), that the domain was renewed by the current owner of the domain on the latest update date, as a recent renewal would trigger a WHOIS update and consequently would update the "Last Updated Date"

A missed backorder does not necessarily mean that we tried catching the domain and failed to do so. In 2021, which is when the outcome of your backorder was released as can be seen on your email ("Backorder Daily Report (04/07/2021)", if the owner chose to renew the domain, the backorder would be missed. We have, since then, changed it so the backorder stays in place until the domain de facto enters the dropping period and we actually attempt to fight it, regardless of whether or not the owner of the domain renews it.

Had this backorder been successfully fulfilled but not delivered to you as you appear to be thinking, the WHOIS would show a creation date after the date of your backorder was placed.

Hope this shreds in some light.

Thank you!

I tried to catch my dynadot etc drops at epik, all failed. Someone else dropcatched them. Either all domains I register is worth 4k or more (all handregs), or someone watching my dropcatch orders and dropcatching elsewhere. I think both are partialy true.
I can't play drop-auction game, not because of shillbidding (which is not necessarily bad), but because of ID requirements. Is hand-registering profitable: time will tell, probably not worth the time spent so far.

Thankyou for the explanation.

The backorder date was 03/10/2021 (see screenshot) and the domain creation date was 04/07/2021 which means the domain was registered with epik after my backorder.

If the previous owner would had renewed the creation date would be prior to 2021. But the creation date is 04/07/2021 which means it was registered after it was dropped.

What's the deal here ? I've paid $199.00 USD to Epik about a week ago for a backorder that was not caught - I paid that on my understanding that I would get a full refund if not caught. It was not caught. They've said its been refunded but its gone to some store credit and not to back to my credit card. Have I finally been scammed ? Is there anything I can do ?

They normally move it to instore. To me this is acceptable. You can demand that they issue refund back to the credit card, and if they refuse then you can call them scammer, imo.

I don't know if you were scammed, but if so, you are not the only one as you can see in this thread:

They have refunded back to my card apparently. Taken around 3 weeks. Thanks for your help. So not scammed. Just annoying

In my experience Epik backorder never works, they can't even catch domains I intentionally dropped,
and they are dropcatched by "others" elsewhere.
Whenever you backorder something somewhere,.."they" know there is a buyer, so why should they get that domain for reg fee, and 1 USD profit while they can register it for themselves elsewhere.

Epik is a scammer sometimes: You list a domain, and you relist with higher price, but they can still sell (or buy?) that domain for the old/cheap price, and pretend everthing is ok, and blame you for spamming if you warn them many times with proof of your claims. There are many good people at Epik, but at least one person there deserve prison sentence. If they can't admit their mistake, then this means they are being nasty all the time and they are not caught. But aftermarket buyers don't need to worry at all. If there is a fixed price on a domain, and you like the price, just buy it. Your money and domain will be safe. Only sellers can be scammed there (and at other marketplaces).

How long does it take to send a refund back to my Barclaycard? Been well over 24 hrs since they said it was refunded

Edit…..refund received back to credit card, well most of it anyway. Best of luck to the rest of you
