I'm not sure if you all know, (well some of you do) those of you whom have surpassed the stage of just being a domainer and developed, monetized and done real business online through whatever space, niche, or platform you are working on.

Do you know what it takes to develop a domain and make it a success? It takes years of failure, it takes learning front and backend web development (in my case), it takes trying 100s of new ideas and failing for over a decade before finally making it work.

What do you all do? You buy cheap, hoard and sell astronomically high. You are despised amongst just about every marketing circle, development community and well, the entire internet in general. I mean really, people hate domainers. I'm not sure some of you know this so let it be known - you are not loved on this internet.

And due to your greed, and the greed of registrars, you have contributed to the dilution of the domain game by causing registrars to come out with 100000000 new tld's so the average Joe can stand a chance at having a unique web property and not have to pay a company like hugedomains 20k for handjob123.com

That's all, I think most of you have lost your minds, I think that most of you are greedy and that a large majority of you could NEVER cut it with marketing, development or design hence why you rely on such basic tactics of monetization to survive.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
They hate us because we have things they want.

If anything, investors curate domains in a way where better domains find better end users, and the internet is polluted with less garbage development projects.

Hi

i believe you, but some think it's easy,
just like they think buying and selling domain names is easy.

perhaps you, can show some of the websites you've built?

also, read thru the Parking and Monetization section.

imo...

They hate you because you hoard, and then demand insane prices.

The websites I've built out cost over 500k in mids alone to process the card payments. I'm not here to share my niches, I had to make the very hard leap from domainer to actual developer over 20 years ago. Good luck.

Hey it's much easier now, you have everything at your fingertips, you don't even have to know how to code anymore.

I will be the first to admit domaining is by no means easy, but if you have a large amount of cash to invest and have the willpower/patience/financial security to hold on to them, you pretty much can make it in domaining. Domaining is mostly about time, about patience and about knowing what trends to follow etc. It's not easy, but it's nothing compared to actually launching and developing a successful product/website.

I guess a better question is, am I (or other domain investors) supposed to care?

This you?

Hello,

Long time domainer here (off and on). I was buying lll.coms when they were under $1k in the early 2000's, then sold them (lol) and bought more in 2010 (and sold them). So I finally get it, KEEP YOUR DOMAINS, HOLD, HOLD, HOLD. Right?

Anyway, the increase of prices since 2010 makes me want to cry, the last domain I sold was efn.com for 12,000. Can you kind people break down what one should pay in todays atmosphere?

Someone is butt hurt...
What am I butt hurt about? I look at most of you and genuinely feel bad for you, I remember when I was so lost and such a noob on the internet. Ahh, over 20 years ago.

Most of you won't ever make it online, some of you will make millions. I took 12 months off last year and made over 300k, I'm good dw about my anus, thank you.

A bit like an investor who has a large portfolio of properties and sells them on for a profit.

My son buys loads of pairs of sneakers and sell them for a profit

All the same thing...buying a product and selling it for a profit. It's called business.

I think what's happened here is you wanted a certain name and someone quoted you a price way above your budget and you're pissed off about it so you've come on here fora little rant, am I right? 😉 I've seen this quite regularly on here 😊

Idk, idc either. You "invest" I have the brain to build, I earn while I sleep, you depend on ancient sales tactics, social engineering, manipulation and other salesman nonsense to survive.

IDC I'm a domainer too - but I'm much more, I'm well established and a staple in the top tier of my industry, I took my love for domaining and turned into a knowledge of software engineering, marketing, front/backend development. I can reg a crapper domain and turn it into a six figure earning landing page, can you?

:P

You claimed to be a long time domainer in the other thread posted above, now all of a sudden you have some moral stance against domain investing...

Selling names for profit, how do you sleep at night moale😊
No, you see when everyone else does it is wrong because they are greedy.

When moale does it, it is different because (insert some arbitrary reason).

Anyways, you ladies and gents have a wonderful day. I just wanted to be petty and let those of you who don't already know, learn that domainers are really hated on the internet. (y)

Show me a domain I have sold for profit lol. My love for developing - is why people like you are able to have a roof over your head.

Also, learn how to stop skimming? I clearly admitted that I am a domainer before you both failed at trying to manipulate the situation.

Enjoy your $5.00 day from ppc parked pages

That's cool.

I am sending you well wishes in getting over the strong case of butthurt in relation to underselling lll.com.

Brad
My grudge today is towards someone who has 1000s of LLLL.coms and is hoarding a local acronym because its "pronounceable" and "brandable" (meanwhile 99% of these domainer idiots could never build a successful brand in your lives, yet they are to judge what is brandable) and demanding 50k for it.

Straight up nonsense, and yes learning the state of lll.com is both sad and cool, as I said, I'm a domainer too, first and foremost in my long journey down this series of tubes. I did not perceive them as well wishes, I will stand down. Have a good one.

Without domainers you will hardly find good domains available for you to buy. Domainers let the market allocate domains to the customers that benefit the most (i.e. are willing to pay the higher prices).

That's how capitalism work.

Edit: moreover, in order to offer this valuable service domainers carry a good amount of risk like in any other business activity.

Who hurt you?

What was the domain you so desired, that you wake up daily with this level of vindictiveness and bloviation?
Domainers are reviled for their sagacity in beating the rest of the world to digital gold.

I'll take being envied and self-employed, over running on the hamster wheel non-stop for narcissistic pricks any day.

Successful domaining leads to financial and time freedom, I'll take it.

It's weird, because from the way you use "you" in the original post it sure seems like you don't consider yourself a domainer. You seem to have separated your own purchasing and selling of domains for profit as more legitimate (and less greedy) than others who do the same.

The few that envy always leave out the curation factor. If domainers didn't own the valuable URLs they own, EVERYTHING would be owned by the registries and corporate domainers.

Anyone that has ever negotiated with a corporate domainer knows they understand value much more than the average domain speculator.

Yet, domainers being the lower hanging fruit get the most flack. Luckily, it is better to be hated and financially successful than vice versa.

I am and am not, I am at heart but it's not part of my every day life. My love is for stats, numbers, marketing, conversions, etc. I had some typos in that message I changed the way I worded it to not come off so much like a d***
