Hey guys,

what do you think about .lol domains?!

I tried to reg one recently, as I was fed up with seeing all these web3 .com / .xyz / .eth names on twitter...

and must admit, many good names in .lol were already gone.
However I managed to find a decent one then.

My honest opinion:
This tld. looks quite good with nft & web3 names / buzz-words.

Maybe best in combination with gaming, art, entertainment.

Regards
lol

Hi

so....

if you didn't do twitter, would you still be considering .lol, lol

unless it's just for fun, then what you gonna do with it

imo...

The only website I know that legitimately uses .lol is keys.lol. It’s a nice little site demonstrating how BTC/ETH private keys work. I think it’s the perfect extension to create a fun project as the first year price is usually a few dollars.

I own one .lol that I got to possibly build a project on. Most likely will not renew it.

Hello Andy. I love the .lol extension (I know, I may be one of a handful of people on Namepros who likes it). I have registered many names and continue to do so. However, you're right, so many keywords are already taken, it's getting more challeging by the day to find one word keywords.

IMO, you can really use .lol in almost any industry.

Thank you.

Omg.lol is actually quite a cool website.

Honestly seems like just another crappy TLD. It is literally in the extension ("lol") that the website should have a funny angle to it. If you want to have a Youtube clone for funny videos or something like that then you will have your pick of a million great names with .LOL. Otherwise, you probably won't be looking for a .LOL domain.

I disagree with the idea that this is good for any industry. Which of these am I honestly looking to spend money with?

Networks.lol
domains.lol
hardware.lol
finance.lol
law.lol
bitcoin.lol
buygames.lol

Do I really want to purchase goods or services from someone who doesn't even take themselves seriously enough not to make a joke out of their own name? Right off the bat I'm trying to figure out, "is this a serious website or a joke?"

yeah, I agree.

.lol has potential in entertainment, games, music etc.

It has no potential in serious business, like payment transactions ;)

however, if you have a good (single) name in the named niche with this tld, it ain't such a bad bid, as you just pay $1.50.

Actually, developers have to do the job first (develop some nice sites ending on .lol),
and then we may have something going on here...

so, therefore keys.lol is an awesome site!
thanks for sharing.

many keywords are already taken, true.

That's why I just searched for some (nft) gaming names...

yep, just as I said, something in the gaming / entertainment industry might be suitable here.
not in serious finance ;)

but bitcoin.lol doesn't seem bad, to me ;

I picked up just a handful of these back in 2015, there was a promo going also for renewing up to 10 years at a ridiculously low price that I also took advantage of.

Thought process behind it was the dot-lol could suit, well, as the extension implies, something funny. Never expected it as a serious investment in terms of super-high value and still don't. A fun extension, nothing more.

The only offers ever received was XXX on Punchline (.) lol, turned down. Also hold:

Tickles
Tickle
Funnybone
Jester

If its "bumfuzzle dot lol", I could find some love for it. Why? It makes me lol

Truly, I'd take a "play dot lol" or a "watch dot lol". Fun domains targeted at playing, gaming / watching funny things. Play is in existence, appears to be a kids educational platform (Legends of Learning). Somehow, I feel a hint of inspiration for this brand came from "League of Legends"

Thanks everybody for your participation.

I am holding some .lol's now, lol... :xf.wink:

And hope this extension gonna take off some time...

Next to a good fitting for gaming, playing, music & entertainment,
it looks quite decent for personal/ private use.

I know that SO many good names in all kinds of extensions are gone,
but in .lol you're able to find some good surnames / or family names,
which you could use for your portfolio
(like a private link site to your diff. social networks etc.).

Maybe this is what I'm gonna do.

Keep it up,
LOL

Totally agree.

Almost as if a domainer one day got fedup scanning through different keywords of some tlds and realising that lol, even such a silly domain is also already taken!

doesnt seem bad? Do you know how many people have millions in bitcoin? And you would plaster your domain over the whole worldwide web as "bitcoin dot hahahaha what a joke"

It's not good.

And I visit ebaumsworld.

Only good ones might be like:

wtf.lol
omg.lol
vids.lol
dumb.lol
fail.lol

Even still, those types of sites are hard to monetize successfully. Not impossible but it has to be updated daily with good content to keep users coming back.

my main statement stands, but i can think of a few things that might work, like say instead of saying straight out ethereum, you say bitcoin lol and then the site is about ethereum. ty.

and also I can setup a crazy subdomain too like omg.wtf.lol
