It doesn't matter significantly on desktop, however for mobile its a space saver especially if you are running Google Ads. Shorter the web address the more room for keywords promoting your domain's activities. Four characters could allow you to add an extra word.

I don't use it, and it's generally recommended to drop it nowadays. I redirect to the non-www version.

I prefer without www. Using www could be the better choice when you're using a lesser known ngTLD. Just so people realise it's an actual domain/URL.

Most important, pick one option and stick to it.

It's mostly a personal preference nowadays.

From an SEO perspective, it doesn't make a difference if you use either version of WWW or Non WWW.

However, you should know that only one version should be indexed according to your personal preference. If both versions are indexed, Google will consider it as a duplicate content, which will harm you website for sure assuming that no auto redirection (301 redirects) is happening between both versions.

Personally, I prefer the shorter version of course. Wordpresss for example is pushing the shorter version of their permalinks, that should tell you something.

Without the "www".

If you have an extension like .COM, or other well known extensions, you don't need to use it.

If you have a more obscure extension, I would consider using it still so it is recognized as a domain.

Yep, as with above. Not necessary anymore with dot-com, or other traditional extensions but with TLDs less ingrained probably a good idea so that they are seen as a url and not a typo particularly in marketing or advertising.

Though I don't use it at all anymore, I'll leave it to the user to figure it out if they don't "get it" or unwilling to. I always forward the www to the naked domain anyways, out of habit.

What's interesting is if say you have something like roleplaying.game but someone owns game.com and has a subdomain on roleplaying, then you have confusion:

roleplaying.game.com vs
roleplaying.game

Someone could think the dot-com is missing, perhaps adding the www could clear things up.
