Searching NamePros, I see only two postings where individuals mention sales using Biix.
Biix is a more recently created aftermarket, with an exciting low commission. The seller pays 2%, and the buyer pays the Escrow.com fees for the transaction. They appear to also offer "lease-to-own."

Has anyone else had success using this domain marketplace? And, if so, did they use the straight sale or "lease-to-own?"

2% sounds nice. Let me go and check out the website.

Yes, when this company launched, there seemed to be potential there to really give the other marketplaces a serious challenge. I'm surprised that there are not more Biix success stories on the Namepros domain sales reporting section.

- they should really hire a web designer, for example the letters are so tiny, the website doesn't look good
- the payment process is complicated, just try to buy a domain there and you will see; the buy now button should redirect the buyers to the checkout page where they can pay for the domain right away
- what about invoices? What if I am a company and I need a tax invoice? There aren't field to enter my billing details such as name, company name, company address, tax/VAT number
- I don't like the fact that buyers need to pay the commission, the displayed prices should contain everything, including any commissions or processing fees

Thank you for the perspective. NameBio does not list Biix as one of the aftermarket search choices, and trustpilot does not show evidence of significant customer activity. Perhaps your suggestions would help them improve business.

Guys, Biix is a pretty much private marketplace. The owner is the same person who owns NameWorth.com
I think he sells his own names, maybe he brokers for some as well, I don't know. But it's not for a wide range of domianers as it's with Afternic or Sedo. If you write them an email, most likely you won't get any reply.

Thanks for the insight. Their California connections are especially of interest, since I have some aged California-related domains for sale. Even if their traffic is lower than other marketplaces, their West Coast connections could be useful. I'll check it out, to see how well the email and customer support works.

Perhaps Biix's greatest challenge is that their commission is too low for their business model? They have a great idea, but perhaps overly optimistic?

Well, selling your own names you can set up any commissions, even 0%. This guy definitely knows what he is doing for himself, he's been around for many years. But again, I just don't think his model includes you and me.

But definitely give it a try, maybe he'll be interested.

Sadly, no response to the Biix customer support email. Still waiting after several days.
My hope really had been that this was a newer small but savvy alternative to the current domain marketplaces. Perhaps not.

So if the prospective buyers have any question, who can they turn to? And when will they receive a response?

I tried their marketplace a couple of months ago. They accept external listings but their support agents are not too serious about matters.

This really saddens me. I see the Biix advertisement banner at the bottom of the NamePros forum page at this moment. And yet, customer support, via their website does not even have an automated response to acknowledge receipt of an email. And still no response ever showed up to my simple question about potentially listing some domains.

When searching the NamePros forum, there still appear to be only a few mentions of any sales by them. If they are a fledgling startup, and want their business to thrive, maybe they could improve their services to make it happen?

I love these kinds of threads. /s.
At least Biix owner is active: @NameBuyer.com
He also has nice NameWorth; very cool tool!

We are in beta mode.

The site works. I've had over $100k in sales through biix, and another customer has had over $30k in sales and I believe he had his best year ever using biix.

I have limited time so I'm not going to handhold anyone into listing your domains at biix. I've done it in the past, those that need it end up needing more communication than I'm able to provide and most have never sold a domain or have had limited sales experience. Notice I said "communication" and not "support". The site works, if you have an error, I'll usually have it fixed within a day or two.

Here's the timeline that most people get and the priority:
  • Domain Sale - Handled within hours
  • Buyer inquiry - Sent to seller within 1 business day
  • Existing Customer (with sales) Support Request - Response within 1-2 days
  • Existing Customer (with no sales) Support Request - Response typically within a week
  • New Customer with Technical issue - Typically 1-2 business days
  • Any Customer with Open Ended Questions - Depends...Could be a day, could be never. I just don't have the time while in beta mode to take on every question about portfolios and hypothetical scenarios. I've listed my domains at several parking companies and landing page providers in the past and I just used their automated tools without

biix is great if you are consistently selling domains (at least several per year) and you want a method to cut your commission costs. biix is not great if you are NOT selling domains and then want to list them with biix and wonder why biix has not been getting you sales, then start making many suggestions on "improvements" that you have no expertise in suggesting. Hint that I learned 17 years ago...if you have good domains, they'll sell at any marketplace.

So, if you are in the position that I was in 12-14 years ago where you are paying $1,000-$5,000 per year in commissions, and you want to reduce that to $100-$500 per year, while having a professional looking page and using the most used, trusted and recognized escrow company in existence, then biix is probably the perfect fit.

If you are just starting out, then don't get caught up on the details and just list them anywhere. Make sure you have a price on each of your domains that is within reason and get them all pointed to landing pages and list them on the Afternic premium option network. Getting them listed with prices on a landing page and listed with Afternic's premium network are the most critical steps. It doesn't matter if your landing page is at biix, sedo, or any other place, at this stage you just need to focus on buying quality domains, pricing them correctly, and getting your landing pages setup in an effort to start getting sales.

There've been some interesting posts in this thread.

The user below is the type of user that does not belong at biix. They appear to have never sold a domain for any significant amount of money and they nit pick on things that have no relevance to anything. The suggestions are either out-of-touch or suggesting things that 99% of marketplaces do not do. My favorite comment is that "the website doesn't look good". Uh ok...sure. Move along please.

The below comment is not correct, but the user does have a reason to post what he did. I was selling a house, then moving across the country and was subsequently sick and his support requests about his account did not get processed (from NameWorth, not biix). I apologized to him and got his account squared in the end and responded within 48 hours of him cancelling.

To the user below. I appreciate your interest, but the question you gave me was what services are available for your portfolio. This service is essentially the same as any other. It is just listing your domains for sale, which mostly gives you a landing page and allows you to sell the domain for a 2% commission rather than a 9%-20% commission as detailed in the "Sell Your Domains" section.

Some people that are new to selling domains think that the marketplace sells the domain for them. But that isn't true. People find and purchase your domain by 1.) typing the domain in their address bar, 2.) searching at GoDaddy or another registrar, or 3.) by doing a whois lookup. When the buyer goes to buy a domain, they already know what business they are launching and 90% of the time they know exactly what they want to call the business. That's pretty much it. Some sites may claim to advertise, but in 99% of the cases your domain is getting a sale from one of these 3 methods above.

Sadly, no response to the Biix customer support email. Still waiting after several days.

Again, if there is a buyer of a domain that communication gets forwarded to the seller within the same day.
So if the prospective buyers have any question, who can they turn to? And when will they receive a response?

Hi Garett,

The piece of communication between us that you bought is irrelevant. That was my request to NameWorth, and you got back later but explained and cancelled - absolutely true and all the reasons behind were totally understandable. It was resolved and I had no issues about it.

What I wrote here is the comment to a question regarding Biix marketplace, where many months ago I wrote at least twice specifically on [email protected] (that had nothing to do with what we talked on NameWorth) asking if some names could be attached, but never got any answer. And that's what I comment here about. You clearly see that other people were having the same result from requesting to biix. That was the only issue - a ''no-reply'' to a requests, and seeing similar cases (also it's true that there is lots high quality domain names there) - I made conclusion that it's pretty much your private marketplace.

No need to explain how marketplaces work - we all imagine this, some people here are actually even partially educated ))) But a next time if you just reply on requests to biix support email - ''interested/not interested'' - that will solve many issues...

It's all automated. I really don't get the need to ask me if you should list your domains for sale or what they should be priced at. There's about 2-3 customers that I'll discuss pricing with and that's because they've gone through the trouble of uploading their names and have gotten at least 1 sale. I have thousands of domains I'm currently revisiting the pricing for, so spending time evaluating other people's domains is something I cannot do. I get requests nearly every day to do this and it would take me an hour for each email to correctly respond. When I have time on my hands, I do respond. Right now, I don't have that kind of time.

I have this position on communication because I've never sent an email to GoDaddy, sedo, epik, or uniregistry asking how they like my domains. They have a place for me to create an account, then I create it and upload domains. done.

To most of these emails the answer is yes. If you believe in your domains enough to keep renewing them, there are no restrictions on any domains at biix. It is just a landing page for your domains. There is no approval process. It takes about 5 minutes to find this out by trying a few domain uploads.

It isn't personal. There are just a percentage of customers who like to communicate "A LOT" and another percentage who communicate when necessary or only for essentials. Maybe when it's out of beta, then every message with any question can be replied to, but for now, it is by-design that it caters to those who are the least maintenance. I've been through this cycle with several customers who communicate a lot, and in the beginning I gave 100% attention to all questions. I have written pages upon pages of custom responses to individual customers to then see them leave on a whim to wherever they go next.

The site has over 10,000 domains uploaded and verified besides my 8,000 domains so people are listing domains without my assistance in 95% of the cases.

I've bought and sold domains before.

The letters are too tiny and they are hard to read. If the website is hard to read, then it harms the conversion rates. You should test it with real users, for example ask some older people to take a look at the website.

The payment process should be as easy as possible, just redirect the buyers to a form, then to the actual checkout page, any more steps and you will lose customers.

Really there are businesses for example in the UK or in the EU who will need a proper tax invoice, but I don't see fields to enter the billing information, such as company name, address, VAT/tax number. This again is a problem for certain prospective buyers. Again you could ask business owners from the UK or EU if they think that a proper tax invoice/receipt is important for them or not. The accounting rules in the US are different than for example in the UK/EU.

Another issue is that domains pointing to Biix don't have a valid SSL certificate, so when you try to access these domains over SSL, then you will get an error. You should generate an SSL certificate for each domain pointing to Biix.

So if you point example.com to Biix, then the https://example.com address will throw an error (notice the https prefix). So if there are existing links pointing to https://example.com then visitors following those links will get an error.

"Uh ok...sure. Move along please."
"We are in beta mode. "

So if you are in beta mode, then you should appreciate all these feature suggestions instead of telling people not to use Biix who send you these feature suggestions for free.

Fair enough if you don't want to talk ''A LOT'', that's totally understandable. What I am saying is that a simple reply to relevant emails (even templated) is good practice. ''Yes'', ''no'', ''not interested'' or ''here is how to proceed - link, boom''. Cause I believe in 2020 the registration process wasn't smooth for whatever reason (and biix site was even ''more'' in beta mode). I don't really remember the case now, but I think that was a primary reason why I asked different things. And I was newer to the industry at that time, I did ask for your advice on several names - and yes, on other occasions you did help me, gave yours opinion - I remember and appreciate that.

So to me the problem was clearly not the quality of answers but a simple lack of communication. And that's what I pointed out here when someone asked about it.

I myself run a travel agency and people ask me/my colleagues things that I find either 10 times explained on the site or simply very obvious (and sometimes even stupid). But we still do reply to each request at least once, if an email is somewhat relevant to our business.

As a follow-up to Bob Hawke's thread recently on marketplace commissions:

  • Biix allows you to sell at just 2% commission, with the buyer picking up the Escrow.com fee for handling the transaction. The marketplace has integration with the NameWorth valuation tool, if the seller desires
Has anyone here on Namepros had success using Biix lately?

I've mostly refrained from promoting it lately as there isn't a huge market for it.

I mainly created biix for investors that were doing $30k plus a year in sales or more and wanted to save on commission rates with professional looking landers because that's what I wanted for many years and it never really existed.

First of all, there aren't a ton of investors that are doing over $30k plus a year and a lot of those that are already have their marketplace or solution in place.

Most domain investors seem to be focused more on getting paid quickly rather than building trust with their customer. That was one niche that biix filled because most people didn't know what dan.com or undeveloped were, but the majority did know what escrow.com was, which was what biix was using. Now that GoDaddy has bought Dan, the trust issue is gone from that equation.

The only issue now is the higher commission rates, but by GoDaddy incentivizing pointing your domains to them for the 15% fee, rather than a 25% fee, it pretty much prevents you from listing anywhere else.

In my experience, about half my sales comes from Afternic, even when my domains are pointed elsewhere, so even at 2% commission, it doesn't make a lot of sense to point your domains anywhere but GoDaddy/Afternic.

I've been also pointing my domains to Afternic for the last 6-8 months as an experiment, and it has worked well with the ns3 & ns4 landers.

I never bothered trying. A while ago, I had contacted the company. It took a long time for the respoonse. And even the owner recommended a marketplace alternative that he was using.
