Yesterday someone made me an offer of €100,000 euros for my domain and I accepted the offer.
The problem is, today I received an email from Sedo that the deal was canceled for security reasons!
They did not even mention what these security reasons are.

The problem is that my personal data such as my full name and address were included in the contract, but the buyer's data was not included!

I contacted Sedo to inquire about the reason for canceling the deal and what are these security reasons that would cancel a deal at this price. Unfortunately, I did not get any answer from them under the pretext of data protection. But they told me you can see the buyer's name in the contract.

The buyer's name included in the contract is a fictitious name
Love Sweet
Is this a real name?

Shouldn't Sedo verify the buyer's information such as his real name, payment details, etc. Before he can bid for that amount?

I am upset because Sedo disclosed my personal data to the buyer in the contract and then the contract was canceled for security reasons!

They protect the data of the buyer, but not the data of the seller, and this is the thing that bothers me the most and causes me anxiety. Because they shared my personal data with someone I don't know.

What do you advise me to do in such a situation? What are my rights? How do I act?

if by..my rights.. u mean..where is my money sedo... then I'm afraid its gameover and u can do nothing...we all get fake buyers 247

as for rest..like yer info...well its.a.bummer for all of us..but I'm sure sedo made sure to put all tis in mega small font in the agreement terms when we signup

that being said.. its unlikely there are hitmen or terrorists using such procedures to get us.. go to.sedo..make fake offer.. get info..procedures.

in time neo..u will understand there is difference between getting an offer and getting really paid
for a domain

Fake offers are put out there all the time. If you've got a domain worth that money, you'd most likely know it. Is that number reasonable for what you had? Sometimes this reasoning puts you at ease, knowing it was probably bs. Since the buyers name seems fictitious too, even more reason for it to be cancelled. The sharing of your name sucks from a confidentiality standpoint, but don't stress over it. The sharing of address is ridiculous

thank you for replying.
I didn't mean by a word what are my rights (money or where my money is).
What I meant is: that the buyer must be verified before he is allowed to list an offer or enter an auction. It must be checked before concluding any contract between the two parties.

I will accept the cancellation of the contract and the deal if the buyer asks me to do that.

If this domain finds the right buyer who has the same niche for this domain, I think yes it is worth this price.
The domain consists of two keywords without any misspellings.
When you type the domain into Google without TLD, 10,380,000,000 search results appear.
It can also be used with more than one niche. Music, Monitoring, NFT, and more

miracles do happen.

but normally to sell for 100k... u need to put in a good 10k to buy name... even then get lucky..

of course it's just general outline.. every case is unique...

but the point being ....money makes money

Note that I do not market the domain in this post, so I did not write the domain name in the post.
No one can evaluate the importance of the domain except those who are interested in this domain exclusively. And who have the money and the right idea that fits the domain to create a successful project.
You may find a domain that you say is not worth any value, but in someone else's perspective, this domain deserves a lot.
I agree with you, luck plays a big role in finding the right people.

Hi

what one puts into it, is pointless... unless you're talking about website work

one could buy or hand reg a name for well under $10K, that becomes highly prized and could garner legit six figure offers.

since we don't know the name, or even the extension or how long the OP has owned it, or how many previous offers or if the name earns any ppc revenue.

then, why assume... just ask.

imo...

if I didnt know better I'd say u domain since last nite... now I'll just conclude yer drunk or drugged for thinking a handreg has same odds of.selling for 100k as a quality name.we may have spent 10k or 50k on.

so here is what's pointless...vodka and drugs. ;)

In this post, I am not discussing whether the domain is worth this price or not. Each of us sees what the other does not see. I wrote here because of something that happened to me yesterday and I wanted to share my experience. And get some advice so that this doesn't happen again.
Thank you for your replies. I appreciate and respect your opinions

This photo is to make sure I got that offer
Show attachment 213953

hmm I think u are missing the point. which is that this would have never completed and paid to u. hence the cancellation. sedo doesnt cancel sales cause they are bigger amounts. they happy to get paid..just like us... they cancel sales cause for whatever reason they know 200percent it will never complete.

so sadly yer foto.shows or proves nothing other than fake and failed offer or sale attempt. learn and move on
...happens 10s of times each day to domainers across globe

FWIW:

On the exact same day (yesterday) as @bahaba I received an offer on a domain at Sedo as well -- which was accepted by me. The following day (today) I got the same message from Sedo Security Department. They had cancelled the transaction. Name of the buyer was disclosed, and it appeared to be someone from Russia with a fake name and address. Don't know if this has anything to do with the imposed sanctions.

Hi

drunk, drugged or high on life...
i know cbdoil com was regged in 2012 and sold for $500K in 2019.
bitcoin.com was regged in 2008, what's it worth today?

it may not be a common occurrence, but "time" is the difference in perception, and it validates potential of a hand-reg or a domain purchased for under $10K.

back to the OP's question. i say fo get about it
if you sold another domain for a lesser amount, say in 4figure range, some stranger ( the buyer) would still get the same info - and if they had malicious intent, you'd never consider they were out to get your personal info.

i've been selling names on sedo since forever and yeah some fake offers may come your way, but the % is negligible compared to the legit inquires.

imo....

This is evil side of Sedo. They invite fake offers by people whole are trying to get personal info of seller. Also, I suspect most of the time buyers at Sedo are agents for other registrars, and those agents would try to remain anonymous (or use actual buyer's info as if it is theirs), and this may be a reason they would choose Sedo over others (such as Dan), and Sedo doesn't want to lose this type of business, and allows sellers' privacy to be attacked, while protecting buyers, but if they realize offers are fake they just cancel a negotiation after giving seller's info to buyer, and allow legal action against fake buyers who have fake name, fake address, fake everything.

This often happens, fake offers, all you could do is to wait,
IMO.....

Once I got an offer, and accepted it, but Sedo cancelled the transaction. And soon got another offer in the same amount from the same country, and I accepted it and this time "it worked". What exactly happened here, in addition to the obvious possibility, I can invent alternative explanations.

Another time, buyer was not paying, ..normally I was supposed to cancel it, but I decided to wait for several weeks (or a few months), and hoping that Sedo would scare them forced debt collection,.. and waiting worked , money paid. What exactly happened here: Maybe, Sedo or the buyer found another buyer during that time (second possibility).

(correction: whole -> who, in my previous post)

what nonsense in the name of god are u talking about... buyer found another buyer..sedo found another buyer...wtf... this is all nonsense....didn't u get it? there was no other buyer.. there isn't one now... nobody knows future so tnx for stating obvious...... and the sale or offer at 100k is cancelled.. the domain sits with buyer.

What may have happpened. The buyer was an agent, and, say, actual buyer promised to pay 10K, but agent made a deal for 5k. Actual buyer then ignored, and domain was not paid on time, and either it took time to make actual buyer pay, or the agent who can get the domain for 5K anytime can do outbounding to get another promise. Most sales, I suspect are domainer2agent sales, this is why it is painful to get a reasonable offer. .. Or Sedo, knowing that domain is more valuable or there is an active buyer who would pay more, can cancel the sale and buy as Sedo, and pretend that the buyers are the same, so there is nothing suspicious, and then sell to the actual buyer. I had already accepted the price before those dirty games, so I have no right to complain about it, I made the sale got my money, why should I care at all. I'd care , if such things are really happening, because same stuff may prevent some sales as well.

And, I suspect this is why Epik requires 60 days lock for second push, and GD blocks fast transfer from Epik.

Marketplaces shouldn't try to defend themselves by saying "we are not doing "such" things (plus some of them can be really ethical).
Instead give more control to sellers. Dirty games (mud wrestling) allowed as long as rules are fair, and allow people to lose because of their stupidity, not because of biased rules.

Plus, I could give positive examples as well, but my purpose is improvement, not judgement.
And examples I give above are not necessarily negative.
