Now we are all fond of selling domain names to end-users because the selling prices are usually higher. However, 5 years back, I met 2-3 domain name investors whose business model revolved around selling to other domain investors in bulk.

For example, they would buy 200 domain names for $10 each in bulk from other investors on forums, ebay, etc. and would resell say, 100 of them for $40 each in a month, to individual domain investors, making a clean $2,000.

Does that model still work and do you still try it/run a business around that?

if anyone interested in such model, you can knock my door for about 500 domains :)

Don't you do that already with your names which don't sell?

Anyone else who majorly tries to sell to domain investors, and small sales with end users here and there?
5 years back, there used to be a domainer who would run a newsletter for 4L names and other 2 word names.

That is how i entered to industry in the beginning. Collecting to dropped domains and sell here via auctions... After i made my first 4 figures sales i changed my mind to reselling on focused on end users. Yet still i do sell some of my names to resellers via auctions just because i enjoy auctions..

I have had dozens on GD auctions all year long, and haven't sold ONE. Is there a reseller range that might produce sales? Sold one on Sedo at BIN. Any success on Sedo?

I've had some success on Sedo, some on other resellers also and some on our own site. I think listing names at a lot of resellers is probably a good move, at least at first.

There can always be "profit" in bulk buying and reselling at a low price to end users, but usually the amount of effort getting the domains, listing them, haggling with domainers and finally selling them is not worth it in the end. Sure they're making a profit, but if you added up all the hours they spent on it, is it actually less than minimum wage?

I prefer the method of spending $2,000 on a premium domain, spending another $1,000 on outbound marketing and selling it for $6,000 making $3,000.

Have 10+ premium domains you're pushing a month and average 5 sales with $3,000 profit and that's $15,000 a month.

NameLiquidate could be your option for all those dropping names. NamePros could also be one of those places.

How's the end user sales now? Did it pick up after the 4 fig sale?

Yes and at different prices also. Sometimes buyers don't check and click the BIN button wherever they see it.

Do you do that? What's the $1000 outbound investment? Who does that? Is there an agency you could outsource to?

Thank you for that. I did, however, sell one on the 23rd via Afternic. But will definitely check out name liquidate. Good question regarding $1000 outbound investment.
