Welcome to the new NamePros in November!

Today marks the first step toward a lot of positive and exciting changes coming to NamePros. You'll notice that most of what you loved is still here, and we're working hard to bring back even more.

And that's only the beginning! We'll be bringing you regular updates, sometimes weekly, to add the features you've requested (please vote on features you want to see first!) and improve your experience.

Our mission is to build a thriving professional network around the best community – that's you! – where professionals can engage in civil discussions, ask questions, share advice, partner, transact, and succeed, all together.

We hope you'll have a look around, and let us know what you think!

All our best,

The NamePros Team

The feedback on John's profile is feedback for John.

If you want to see feedback that John has left for other people, then there is a "Find all feedback by John" option under the "Find" button on his profile.
In the "old forum", before leaving a feedback, you had to choose your role, "buyer or seller".
Then you could differentiate on John's feedback page, who were sellers and who were buyers.
Now you cannot choose the "buyer or seller" role of the transaction. And neither do these roles appear, in "John's" feedback profile.
I hope I have explained myself better now. :xf.grin:

I'm still lost after using it for so many days. Couldn't find the news or thread the way it was earlier. I'm loosing interest in visiting the site.

Now it is the same UI/engine like on another forum, right?

Yes, please add pagination to the top
It is on top actually.
But due to these unnecessary pinned posts - it is below them.

Hey Team, is it normal that you don't see like (or any reaction) notifications of your posts?
Coming (back) soon. :)

it would be cool to have a possibility to set up the order in which you want threads. For example, the possibility to set up once and for all if you want the latest threads to be on top of the list, without going to this filter every time you are watching the new section.
Excellent idea! It doesn't sound like it would be difficult to do. We've added it to the suggestions list.

Now you cannot choose the "buyer or seller" role of the transaction.
D-:

Good catch. Thanks for letting us know.

Are we no longer able to DM directly from Domain Buyer Requests?
Coming soon.

Can you add the option to hide all the threads or posts with the word "wife"?
I don't want her to see what I am talking about her.

It’s the latest XenForo software.

Thousands of websites were using it before them and before us:

The other forum is among the most insignificant of websites using XenForo. There are even forums about tractors running XenForo that are 1000X more significant than them in every meaningful metric. Apples and oranges.

From a technical standpoint, those small websites are very easy to upgrade (a layperson can upgrade them), while doing it to a website as large as NamePros is a significant technological challenge. From what we've been told, it took a full week for the founder of XenForo to upgrade a forum of similar size. NamePros did it all in one night.

Also, very few websites have the amount of custom code behind their XenForo installations that NamePros has, and even fewer of them are running at the same scale.

Still, this is just the beginning of our journey on the latest XenForo software, and we’re going to keep improving with your help and suggestions.

There are also more appearance-based changes coming soon. 😎

Sorry if these have already been posted, I haven't been following this thread. My suggestions are:

- Allow a user to Hide any thread that they aren't interested in.
- Bring back the search in thread function (maybe I'm missing it). This was useful for checking my posts in a specific thread, etc.
- On mobile, I don't see the page skip option at the top - it's only at the bottom, which is a PITA tbh.

I do know that the lack of like/thank notifications have been mentioned. It'll be nice to have those back. I do prefer the old style of showing who liked something (without having to click), but I guess it's not especially important.

I'm unsure of the reasoning behind the change (though it definitely brings to mind the saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it, since I was perfectly happy with the old style) - but I understand it's a work in progress, and in many aspects it's not terribly different, so I won't complain.

The one and only thing I can say I do prefer now is the push notifications, but I don't see any other new benefits (yet) to justify the makeover. I'll get used to it I suppose. 🤷‍♂️

You can do this by choosing "Search" and then selecting "This thread" from the drop-down menu.

The other things you mentioned are coming soon.

Thanks for your feedback.

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by discomforts.

Please change the name to Namepros.xyz... everyone knows that's where it's at now.

I wonder if that includes the messages on that chat thread?

  1. Requiring a CAPTCHA after a single invalid password attempt for everyone is not going to increase security in any meaningful way, but it will frustrate a lot of genuine people trying to login to their own accounts.
That's what it was like every now and then for me before the change. And I thought it was going to be there forever.

If you meant to write that you entered the wrong password first and then you were able to enter your correct password without a CAPTCHA, then:
Yes. that's what I noticed, so I (incorrectly) assumed that 🐈😾chas were all disabled without anybody's knowledge since the 🐈😾chas only disappeared after the change, so who knows the dev team may have overlooked this. And if that actually turned out to be the case, then that post is an intentional alert to all. Good to know that at least the 🐈😾chas are now made smarter. :)

Default total width and width of elements are definitely wrong, it is clearly visible in 1920x1080...

Seems like people aren’t being alerted properly, are unaware of Likes received or unaware how to give Likes because reciprocal Likes aren’t coming in as they used to.

You will not receive them until this feature is implemented again :xf.smile:
