I was just exploring Blockchain domain names and got to know some of the biggest sales at the time:

Exchange.eth sold for 6660 ETH or in present terms, 6660* $3600 = $24 million approx
Foundation.eth - 300 ETH = $ 1 million
Weather.eth - 100 ETH = $360,000

Reference:

These look like some of the top .eth sales and a pretty high domain name.
Looks like blockchain domain names do have some advantages.

What are your thoughts on blockchain domains?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Exchange.eth sold for an equivalent of $600,000 which is still hugely impressive.......but nowhere near the $21,000,000 current market value of 6600 ETH

I highly doubt someone would pay 6600 ETH at todays price for Exchange.eth (never say never though)

I've looked at them a few times and can't find any decent ones for decent prices or they are protected (possibly available later).......no point getting sub standard ones just to fit in.......

Yeah, all the good ones are blocked by the registry, probably planning to sell them through auctions or something like that. A complete antithesis of a fair launch and the idea of crypto itself.

"traditional domains are becoming ineffective", Not yet.

To use .eth, you will need a plugin for your browser. I don't see how they are going to negotiate with icann without agreeing to the same rules as .com, etc.

Just in case anyone reading this is not clear, .eth is not a centralized DNS system extension governed by ICANN. Here is list of those TLDs: https://data.iana.org/TLD/tlds-alpha-by-domain.txt

What is the future of alternative extensions? Not clear. I agree until the most-used browsers support them, they will not find wide adoption.

It is an interesting question whether one should interpret price paid in terms of what that number of ETH were worth then, or now.

Nevertheless, I agree, huge sale.

Setup brave to use dns over https, still can't connect to blockchain tlds. DNS error or endless wait trying to connect.

Long way to go.

Whoever owns Eth.com will most likely break the record for the biggest ever reported domain sale, if and when that happens.

I’ve always been a big believer in Blockchain Domains and .eth domains are making massive headway right now on so many fronts. (NFTs, Web3 ID, Wallet Addesses and so much more utility to come. This is just the beginning.

One of the biggest utilities on the Ethereum Blockchain is Stablecoins which equate to Trillions of Dollars worth of transactions.

I was lucky enough to secure Stablecoins.eth for 3 ETH when ETH was about $200.

It’s without a doubt my most valuable domain right now.

Its beacon not brave one is suppose to use without any special settings and all web3 slds open up...I am using web3 slds for traffic, redirecting them to my web2 Wordpress website. For example. Metaverse.WE3 Network.WE3 Internet.We3 Crypto.WE3 Projects.WE3 , Blockchain.WE3
