discuss How to reduce unpaid domains ?

Hello all,

I sold thousands domains using BIN and now I'm using "make offer" only on my domains.

I currently use dan + godaddy auctions + sedo (afternic dont work with make offer and is replaced with godaddy+sedo)

On landers I see a lot of domains negotiated, agreement reached but the payment never comes.

I dont have the same problem with godaddy, and for sedo, i only have a very few leads, but for the moment all of them are paid.
I used godaddy as landers using a VPS to redirect visitors to godaddy's search results, leads are coming but had a lot of unpaid domains as many customers have new godaddy accounts in this case.

To me , an upfront small payment like domainagents is maybe the solution (but their solution use escrow.com only and it's a big bulshit for non US buyers/sellers), so I cannot test it for the moment.

How would you reduce unpaid domains ?

I cannot raise the min. offer, I see about the same % of unpaid domains at 100 or 200.
I cannot change my domains !

thanks,
David.

What do you mean by "unpaid domains"
Does it mean you don't have any offer on these names, or they made offer but they don't pay?

They make offer, an agreement is reached but they don't pay.

Nothing you can do if they don't pay.
Cancel the transactions and relist them (anywhere) again.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Go back to your BINs. Make offer has less of a binding feel than a bin, though it shouldn't if the offer is accepted. I think often a make offer is a feeler that is kind of like "oh no, the seller accepted but I wasn't serious".

Sure but i have a large portfolio, i waste a lot of time with these negotiations.

I'm 90% sure that i earn much more with make offer. (Test is running, i need a few more weeks to be sure). I think that if I'll make at least more than 20-30% more money with make offer i will continue like this.

They don't pay and nothing you can do about this.
I have a lot of fake offers to. Just wait for a couple of days and cancel the transactions.
I think with the exception with Sedo you have to wait a while. (30 days)? I don't remember.

With godaddy maybe 90% of offers are paid when the venue is godaddy search results or auctions as they could put pressure on customer's account if they dont pay.

Don't use min offer.
Why would it be different if i dont use min offer ?
Which marketplace could be used without min offer ?

Don't use min offer.
What's the difference between not using min offer, and having a BIN, in your experience? Engagement?

I normally called my sale rep from gd to take care of the issues for me. You can do the same if you have one.

It is a valid option. I've had best results with BIN only (min price = bin price).

But it depends on portfolio, pricing .... etc.

Edit: 99% of my sales are BIN anyway. Sometimes I like to try make offer as well - a little.

But since so many are BIN... why should I bother with min offer?

So again - it still depends.

I use make offer because i'm not able to price my domains correctly.

In this case, don't get annoyed anymore about unpaid ones.

It won't disappear.

You can increase min price a little. If you use $100, a lot of unpaid will appears. Once you get past $200 min, they decrease a lot. It depends on your names.

I make a try declining all the time first offer when it's min. Offer at 100 and i dont counter first offer.

I recommend declining at first.

You never know. Just make a counter offer and cancel/delete the transaction if they still send low ball offer to you. I had one case where the buyer offer $100 but then we closed the transaction at high $x,xxx
Many times low ball offers came from namepros members here. I think.

I make it pretty clear on my contact pages I don't put up with nonsense.

Set a bin after agreement is reached and tell them you don’t officially accept offers due to non paying bidders but that the BIN is in place should they choose to buy. For small flips just a bin.
