Facebook is very AGGRESSIVE protect IP.

“NoviCoin” is their coin! stop copying them.

They even own Novi.com!

Samer

Yea but at one point in the past someone did stick up Facebook for $300,000. I personally know the guy who got a check from Facebook for $100,000 a piece for each below.

Fcebook.com
Faceook.com
Facebok.com

I guess they got agressive because they paid out big before. Got tired of it.

to understand TM clearly, i see Novi have been trademarked by many companies since birth of the internet. And i don't see any trademark on "novicoin" yet.

So i really don't see a reasonable excuse for Facebook to claim the domain name. If you input "novi" on trademarkia you will see other companies already trademarked to purpose of financial services.

Well that changes my opinion just never thought was 2020 assuming years. Mind you it costs more to defend than what you can get out of it. Only you know whether it is coincidence or squatting when coming out with the accusations.

TM is from first use, not the application or grant date. How are you going to prove you didn't know about FB's novi project?

Ok if you all are saying it's my mistake that i buy domains due to Novi c.om but believe me i don't know Novi is a fb TM before fb legal team email me is a TM.
Anyway thanks for your thoughts, now i will not defend these domains.
You are my senior domainers and i always learn from yours...
Btw: it's my first TM issue in my 4 years domaining career.

if you bought the domains like 10 years ago, then no, but it looks like you regged them almost yesterday, so just drop them.

The fact there are many different TM registrations for Novi does work in your favour. I feel less sure that it's as clear cut as I originally thought, cause you may not have been targeting FB specifically.

That email looks suspicious, especially the sender part. You should analyse the header info as another user mentioned before.

Besides that, fb did not registered or filed on WIPO for the word 'NOVI', so technically you're good to go with that domain name for other countries around the world that fb did not registered/filed TM yet.

Regarding the WIPO thing, isn't that just a mechanism for registering wherever you want it to be registered? Asking cause I'm not sure the that the WIPO route is a silver bullet for all territories by default. I'm asking the question more than anything cause I'm not completely familiar with the process...

Um no, it seems you tried stealing traffic and possibly money from them, a bad move on your part. What did you even want to accomplish when you registered the domain?

I have no idea why don't you guys state the obvious and "illuminate" the op.

Let me help...

This is clearly TM infringement and you are a sad TM squatter.

End of the story.

NOVI Trademark Information
*namely, providing a virtual currency for use by users of an online community via a global computer network*

It will be impossible to argue the NoviCoin does not infringe this TM

Yes, WIPO is the trademark registering way on the global scale.
When you have a WIPO TM then you've the rights to use that registration worldwide.

To add to domainers side, as all mentioned technical objectives are almost confirmed.
Etymology is from the Latin:
nov-, novo-, novi- (Latin: new, recent)
-with synonymous meaning in several West & South Europe, East Europe and some Scandinavian languages.
So, in say, half of the European market OPs domain NoviCoin.co and NoviPay.co would be anticipated as the novel financial method without any present reference to FB or trade marks simple as the generic combo. That could be domains with the websites as financial reviews, magazine.
And the most intriguingly in this topic or similar, where new gTLD domains are claimed by well known brands without any fairness, despite as probably their brands omission to register as contenders in global competition and domain markets(to not ignore).
As FB is well know as the beneficial company to global community(at least to their users, and also internet overall), email you've received could be sort of sociologically modelling selling negotiation, so i would respond with some payment request like, reg. fee and intended usage period times ads PPC calculation into something, or maybe exchange for their coin currency.
