registries No pending Delete for .us and .biz for last 2 weeks?

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Anybody has any clue why registry has stopped releasing dropped domains for .us and .biz for more than 2 weeks now? There is not even pending delete.

Godaddy owns dot biz and dot us now, and they are changing things,
and not for the better. Since Godaddy does
business in foreign countries, foreign courts can control and
lockup up dot us domain names. Godaddy whois no longer shows
ownership of dot us domains so that you have to pay Godaddy
to make contact with the owner of a domain that you are interested
in buying. Godaddy should have never been allowed to buy dot us.

But what has that got to do with .biz?

GoDaddy does not "own" .US. The .US extension is owned by the US government.

GoDaddy bought the registry services from the company Neustar that has an agreement to operate the .US extension.

I sure hope GD is not trying to mess around with the .US extension.

I think it is a pretty big conflict of interest for GoDaddy to be involved in both the registrar and registry business.

Ignoring the free speech requirement of the Bill of Rights,
Godaddy shut down Parlor.com. Do you really think that
Godaddy cares about the US government. All they have to do
is buy a Hunter Biden painting and the government
will leave them alone.

This is a different subject, but a private business has rights as well. They are not required to host content.

The first amendment is only related to the government's right to limit free speech.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Even companies like Epik have a TOS and a certain line that can't be crossed. Where that line is is subjective, but it is still largely in a private companies discretion who they decide to do business with.

If the US government truly owns dot us...Godaddy has no right to limit free speech.
I don't care what the Godaddy TOS says. The Bill of Rights has priority.

Free speech rights don't exist on private platforms. You don't understand the first amendment.

The US government itself "censors" what can be registered in .US. There is a TOS that bans many terms and uses.

Not even the US government is allowed to censor free speech.

And who is investing in .biz nowadays?
In fact, should the extension disappear today, most domainers would not notice.

I've been dropping .us and .biz like crazy over the last couple of years. Now I know why... GoDaddy's involvement. I think 1 more year and I won't own any of either :)

The Registry is investing in .biz

Upping “premium” renewal fee, & other bs

We wont fall for their shenanigans.

GD’s best non-com asset, may be operatin .co

I think so too. Although I expect they'll find a way to screw that up. I kinda like that biz and co are offered on new domain searches.

This!! They can actually revive any tld.. I don't think they would buy a TLD without data as they have all the info

ANy idea why .us don;t appear on afternic search unless you put .us...

Is it because they don't display cctld?

Sorry. I'm not privy to their decision making processes.

Sorry. I'm not privy to their decision making processes.

They are public, they are the stock: GDDY.

I personally wouldnt invest if GD stock’s $1.

Their .club acquisition went by the wayside, they just completed that, as they try to be: Registrar, Registry… They’re Too big to fail…

What no .club there :)

Because it was already approved :)

Most recent are last “holdouts” partners ngtlds refusing to sell to their new Godaddy overlords

This was when it was announced April 2021
They paid $120M for MMX’s ngtlds -club brand Believe (.club, .brand) already approved to GD
