well... prev option was called old model.. upto 12mo instalment.

now it's gone but u can still give buyer 12mo no extra fee instalement.. under this lease.

so.its same thing.

How is it the same thing?

Leasing gives the new "owner" effective control over the domain from Day 1, and some yahoo can get the domain blacklisted or do something to get a UDRP filed - imagine unethical front-runners taking a 1-month taste (on a 60-month plan) on a few premium domains?

it works same cause I just sold domain using it. the effect is identical to old model. which was max 12mo.

so if u pick max 12mo or less now..buyer pays no interest.. if longer then there is interest.

previously with old model installments buyer could modify DNs thru dan support..or forwarding.

should be same under lease now

however u have a point that strictly for wording.. installments vs lease is not same.

I asked dan about this b4..twice..they didnt bother to reply..instead I was told about case of.vinegar and read a rant to all about how it is the smaller volume sellers which talk the most. frankly..I hardly ever heard anything more unprofessional from company...

perhaps now dan can comment on this feature.

Yeah, I was just talking about that with someone else, but I believe when Dan first started it this apparently was a true installment plan, but it somehow morphed into a lease-like setup a bit later. I did not know about that.

So yes, if you limit it to only 12 months, it's the same as the updated Installment setup, but I really don't like the new "Lease to Own" name (it will bring the scammers and front-runners out of the woodwork) and the 60-month terms.

LOL - by answers like this you can really tell that Dan is run by male techies, and definitely not PR or marketing types.

well u know..its one option less in settings... and I'm fan of simplicity..so less clutter the better..

I guess now if we find lead for installment plan.we just gotta tell em to click on that 12mo lease to own tab.

well frankly I'm tired of arguing..its counterproductive... I just wanna see good working product for all. different owners have different personal approaches to clients. most would refrain from linking sales volume to comment volume.

cheers.

Anybody else seeing lots of failures submitting new names to their portfolio ?

Even if i add the 3rd dns entry it never seems to verify the name is mine and switches it to my portfolio.

I just had to do this today. After changing my Dns 1 & 2 from and Efty I realized..

Someone had my name listed in their portfolio.

After I added 3rd dns verify and waited about 30/60mins for it to propagate and checking Whois update.

I tried to manual add the name again It Worked.

It was already discussed a few weeks ago.
Use more reliable TXT method.

I added several domains today, and they're all appearing on parked pages that aren't secure (no https://). All of the older domains that were uploaded pre-DAN 2.0 are fine, and in the browser bar, it shows "https://" if you type in just the domain name.

I've even gotten a few error pages saying "Warning: this page is not secure," and the page wouldn't load until I hit refresh.

I apologize if this was something I missed in earlier discussions — but does anyone know why this is happening?

SSL certificates are not instant there.
They can take even a few days.

TLS certificates for newly added domains are not provisioned immediately, you have to wait some days. This has always been this way. Be sure to use Dan's nameservers.

I am also running into an Authorization error when adding domains to my account that are already listed.

I have confirmed the DNS TXT is showing up using a tool, and the TXT codes worked fine for Sedo and GD, so there is likely an issue with Dan confirming the TXT record once again.

Same here and it's just not working right now for confirmed already-listed domains. Fails over and over and over, yet both Sedo and GD found the TXT codes and I can confirm they're present using a DNS tool, so....

TLS certificates for newly added domains are not provisioned directly, you have to wait some days. This has always been this way. Be sure to use Dan's nameservers.
are you saying its better to use dan namservers vs undevloped ns? is there difference?

That's not what I wanted to say :) But let me see.

When I query ns1.dan.com and ns1.undeveloped.com for the A record of a domain hosted by Dan, both sets of nameservers hand out the same IP address:

ns1.dan.com hands out 52.58.78.16
ns1.undeveloped.com hands out 52.58.78.16

The IP adresses of the nameservers itself differ, however:

ns1.dan.com 18.200.113.118
ns2.dan.com 3.120.163.96
verification-xxxxxxxx.ns3.dan.hosting 3.126.142.17

ns1.undeveloped.com 52.209.184.250
ns2.undeveloped.com 52.29.254.64

I can imagine that Dan wants all customers to use the *.dan.com nameservers, but that there are still a lot of users who are using the legacy *.undeveloped.com nameservers.

Currently this is the number of domains delegated, based on actual DNS zone data from >1,200 zone files:

ns1.dan.com is used by 857,483 domains
ns1.undeveloped.com is used by 317,922 domains

Tip of the Day:

Apparently Dan 2.0 either changed or switched off Automated Ownership Verification (under Settings -> Ownership) and I needed to re-enable it. Once I did that, it worked as usual.

Everyone having problems, check that setting and turn the switch back on if needed.

Same here. Thanks for spotting that.

There's no bug test going on. Everything is working very fine, at least at 80% efficiency.

I highly doubt it's that high

I cant even see any names in the bulk import of domains report.. on me android.

worked fine b4

and upto last nite my landers were showing no name of.domain cause with 2.0 u apparently gotta set font to automatic else there is some background conflict or such..

I think 2.0 should have come.with operations manual. pretty thick one from looks of it and posts here.

In combination with the new Categories feature, you can then for example use a different theme with different settings per domain category list that you've created.
Where can the Category be set? I can't find it in the settings.

Might want to add a notice / FAQ with your TrustPilot invitations explaining / reminding the buyer: ICANN 60-day lock, a reminder you're only the sale facilitator, w/ links.

its Monday in Germany
Germany used to be the second-largest market in the domain name industry

when undeveloped appeared on the web
sedo was forced to adapt
they didn't want to
it took time

but they have changed
-a little bit-

now DAN thinks
the German market is of sub-par importance

now what would you do as a German domainer?

yes sedo has got my traffic back

yea..not to mention it can be a bit insulting in personal level too when u see yer native tongue botched or disrespected. of course unintentionally. but..with no desire to correct.. intents become more blurry.

then again what do I know I'm just smaller volume seller so my comments do not count
