Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

6 million people in Sydney Australia go into 14-day hard lockdown as Delta strain gets out of hand.

This was caused by one driver becoming infected while transporting a US flight crew to quarantine about a week ago!

The Australian city of Sydney has gone into a two-week lockdown after a rise in the number of coronavirus cases.

More than one million people in central and eastern suburbs were already under restrictions imposed on Friday following a jump in cases.

The lockdown now covers the whole city and some surrounding areas, and is extended from one week to two.

More than 80 cases of the highly infectious Delta variant have been confirmed in the city in recent days.

New South Wales state Premier Gladys Berejiklian said stay-at-home orders would be in place until 9 July for all of Greater Sydney - with a population of about five million - and the surrounding regions of Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong.

Coronavirus could be a sorcery 'time bomb'

... There are also concerns that deaths related to COVID-19 could lead to an increase in sorcery accusations — and one such case has already been recorded.

A community health worker in the town of Goroka contracted COVID-19 and died at home earlier this year.

"The family in his tribe said the wife used sorcery to kill her husband, so the community got hold of the lady, stripped her naked and tortured her with hot irons," local MP Aiya Tambua said.

Someone alerted the police to the lynching as it was in progress. Before officers arrived, the woman was thrown off a bridge.

She survived but Mr Tambua said while the woman was in hospital, her daughter was also attacked and need to be rescued by police.

"[The hospital] found that the mother is COVID positive and the child is COVID positive and the father died from COVID-19," he said.

Ms Kissam said COVID-19 was a potential "time bomb" for sorcery-related violence.

It appears that vaccines are working to stop the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19.

Vaccinated health workers at West Hoxton birthday party didn't contract COVID-19, NSW Health reveals

The highly contagious Delta strain of COVID-19 infected everyone who attended a Sydney birthday party except for the six people who were vaccinated, the NSW Government said.

The West Hoxton party — described as a "super spreader" event — has become one of the most significant transmission events in the NSW breakout with 24 of the 30 attendees, and many of their household contacts, all testing positive for COVID-19.

The virus would have had a near 100 per cent transmission rate were it not for six people who attended the party who had already received a jab.

"To emphasise just how important vaccinations are … not one of those 24 people were vaccinated," NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said today.

"I can also advise that six health workers who attended the party, who were fully vaccinated, not one of those people has been infected."

Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines may provide LIFETIME protection against the virus, study finds

• Researchers took samples from the lymph nodes of people given two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine
• After vaccination, a germinal center forms in the lymph nodes, which acts as a sort of 'boot camp' for immune system cells called memory B cells
• At least four months later, the recipients had germinal centers that did not wane and developed neutralizing antibodies against at least two variants
• The findings can apply to Moderna, which uses the same technology, and could mean that people who get mRNA vaccines will not need booster shots

Both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines may provide lifetime protection against COVID-19, a new study suggests.

Researchers found that people who received either of the two-dose shots, which use new messenger RNA (mRNA) technology, had strong and 'persistent' immune responses.

What's more, the vaccines produced high levels of neutralizing antibodies against two variants of the virus.

This could mean that Pfizer and Moderna recipients could have long-lasting immunity - for years or potentially the rest of their lives - and may not even need boosters, reported first by The New York Times.

'It's a good sign for how durable our immunity is from this vaccine,' lead author Dr Ali Ellebedy, an immunologist at Washington University in St Louis told the newspaper.

Delta variant will cause US Covid surges, Fauci says, as poll reveals vaccine resistance

The US will soon see surges in cases of the highly infectious Delta variant of Covid-19 in areas where vaccination rates are low, Anthony Fauci has predicted, calling resistance to vaccination “sad” and “tragic”.

Such resistance is particularly strong among Republicans: a Washington Post-ABC News poll released on Sunday found that 86% of Democrats but only 45% of Republicans have received at least one shot.

The same poll found that a third of adults who had not had a shot said they would not or probably would not get one. Of those respondents, nearly three-quarters said officials like Fauci were exaggerating the risk posed by the Delta variant. A little more than three-quarters believed they had little or no risk of contracting Covid-19.

Just got home from a 4th gathering...one of my buddies attending was (unfortunately for him) teasing a few people that were pro vaccine and had received their shots. A few of us were looking at dates toward the end of September for an East coast gathering for Shrimp, Suds, Sand, Shots (golf) and Shag. This person who is so sure all 'this' is smoke and mirror plan said he wanted us to find something for the end of August. When I asked him why, he pulled me over saying he was worried as the Delta/India variant might be rampant by then. I mentioned he had been making fun of it all up till that time and what was the issue...after all, it is not real, what is his problem? He should be good to play anytime/anywhere as it is not real (according to him). At first he agreed...he would go anytime, but as I was pulling away, he asked me again to get everyone to play earlier...I told him 'no' and I hoped he would get the shot this fall...told him I would miss him greatly should he succumb, and that he is in charge of his own destiny. I think things might get really bad for a segment of our society this winter.

"Several reputed virologists and vaccinologists have resigned as editors of the journal Vaccines to protest its 24 June publication of a peer-reviewed article that misuses data to conclude that “for three deaths prevented by [COVID-19] vaccination, we have to accept two inflicted by vaccination.”

Their resignations were first reported by Retraction Watch.

(CNN)The US government is deploying a Covid-19 surge team to provide public health support in southwest Missouri, where the spread of the virus is filling up hospital beds once again.

The surge of Covid-19 cases is so high in the city of Springfield, Missouri, that the CoxHealth hospital system began transferring patients infected with the virus to other facilities to provide better staffing. At Cox South, a Springfield hospital, 12 Covid-19 patients were transferred to other facilities in the region between Friday and Monday morning.

Over the past week, the Missouri Covid-19 caseload came in second highest in the country, with 15.5 new cases per 100,000 people daily, or 108 cases per 100,000 people, according to Johns Hopkins University data published Sunday. Arkansas claimed the highest rate at 15.7 new cases per 100,000 people each day, the data shows.
