DAN.COM (formerly known as Undeveloped.com) is on a path to be become the biggest domain marketplace in the world. We use state of the art technology to solve everyday problems buyers and sellers in the domain industry face. At DAN.COM we focus on automating most processes required to buy & sell domains to increase a more efficient and active secondary market for domains.

What sets us apart is our strong focus on product development and customer satisfaction. We leave nothing to chance and every single feature and element we introduce is professionally and carefully designed and built.

DAN.COM is ranked in the top 5 best-rated marketplaces in the world (According to the biggest review platform Trustpilot) and in the domain industry, we're the domain marketplace with the highest rating with an average of 9,4 out of 10 points.

At DAN.COM you will get the highest value for the lowest commission around. Due to our domain transfer automation, we can offer significantly faster handling of domain transactions and payouts (usually within 24 hours) at the lowest fee charged by any domain marketplace.

We've been the first on many fronts and proudly will continue to keep innovating. We were the first to offer optimized for sale pages since 2013, the first to provide payment plans in the form of lease to own and rentals and also the first and only domain marketplace offering free SSL on all domains parked with us for over a year now.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You're intentions are good, no doubt about that. Mine as well :)

Dan is moving to a new platform, DAN 2.0, and I just want to be sure that it is pointing to the right webserver. Sure, several IPs may work, but as we are experiencing today, services are slow. Dan may have a webserver they prefer for pointing your landers to, for load balancing and efficiency reasons.
ok :)
Btw, if you have your own DNS already in place and propagated, you can try changing A record and see if it works instantly, no need to wait for domain propagation.

See the previous pages regarding DAN default minimum...
They increased it according to their new policy and goals.

Good afternoon all,

We have found the bug causing this and are working on getting it resolved for our users. In the meantime, we would recommend using Google Analytics to keep track of all visitors in case it is needed on short notice.

In addition, DAN 2.0 is nearing fast. We do not want to maintain two platforms to prevent DAN 2.0 from getting delayed. Any issues present are known to us and are resolved rapidly after the re-design if not already. However, these solutions will only go live after the new code is implemented.

Regarding the a-record parking, the following IP can be used: 52.58.78.16

Have a wonderful day!

How does the marketing work on Dan?

Is the sidewide traffic only type-in traffic, or do you promote the landing pages with PPC, retargeting, social media, display ads etc., or do you promote only the homepage and not the landing pages themselves?

Good afternoon Charybdis,

How our marketing works is not something we share publicly on forums as we are already the most heavily copied platform in the industry. Even the biggest players start to copy the things we do. However, if you want to see how much total traffic our marketplace attracts you can use public tools like https://www.similarweb.com/website/dan.com/.

We also launched our domain distribution network a couple of months ago with more registrars and whois providers joining the network. We’re the only marketplace at the moment that generates third-party sales for our sellers without charging a higher commission rate. Regarding targeting domain listings, we are aware that some marketplaces started doing this and this is not the holy grail for sales improvements. We used to do retargeting back in 2016-2017 and even though retargeting has a sales improving aspect we concluded to be able to improve conversion ratios via different routes better. Also, adding retargeting would lead to us having to increase our commission since not all retargeting clicks will lead to a sale. We decided at some point to not pursue retargeting.

Having said that, we always like to challenge ourselves and so a month ago we’ve started looking to hire a new team member that can start expanding the paid acquisition channels we use to see if the added value in 2021 is present. Do note that we cannot offer paid acquisition for listings without increasing our commission to make it worthwhile.

I'm in the midst of another nightmare transaction at Sedo and would like additional information on how DAN handles ccTLDs like .CA. My problem with Sedo is a combination of unresponsiveness (3-5 day gap), secrecy (Sedo does not allow communication between buyer and seller), and powerlessness (they have no registrar abilities or partners that can handle .CA).

I cannot communicate with the Buyer and if he/she fails or refuses to transfer the domain post-payment, I can do absolutely nothing. I had one Sedo sale/transfer drag on for over a month and I don't even want to go there again. Sedo takes 3-5 days to respond to any issue, and all they do is contact the buyer (who does nothing or doesn't understand how to transfer) and they have no registrar power to "take over" most true ccTLDs like .CA.

This can lead to extremely long wait-times and undue stress communicating back and forth with a Sedo intermediary. Due to this, I am thinking about moving my domains elsewhere, I would like to know that in the event of an "unresponsive .CA buyer" not transferring the domain, exactly how is this handled by DAN, specifically, can DAN or a partner take over ownership of the .CA domain (like GD, Afternic, Uniregistry) and then transfer it to the customer?

Thanks.

Good morning @DomainRecap

Thank you for checking with us and sorry to hear how this turned out for you.

We do not believe that if a buyer is not replying to transfer instructions that a seller should be negatively affected by it. Our transfer team follow-ups on these buyers quite frequently for an average period of 7 days. If no response is given, the transfer team will look into ways of securing your domain into our holding account ensuring your payout can still be processed.

In addition, when using Dan.com you can expect a response from our support desk within 10-20 minutes during business hours. Our transfer team always makes sure to reply within 1 business day when it comes to any request you make.

Please feel free to reach out to our support chat or [email protected] to get some instructions in order to get signed up. Our account managers are more than happy to tackle any additional questions you might still have.

Have a great week still.

But specifically, DAN can support "taking control" of .CA domains, because Sedo cannot, as they do not have the residency requirements nor the partnerships necessary to secure a .CA domain.

Thanks.

Good morning @DomainRecap,

Yes, this will be no problem at all. We can take control of the domain in case this is needed.

Have a great day.

Thanks for the confirming that true ccTLDs like .CA are not an issue at DAN like they are at Sedo. I have no idea why Sedo doesn't partner up with a registrar to handle ccTLDs like .CA (and .US, etc.) but it must not account for enough of their overall business.

Good morning @alcy,

Yes, the difference is that the lead email states one is interested in the domain and is asked to confirm they want to submit the offer. Once confirmed the negotiation window opens.

Have a great week.

Good morning @cbd,

Do you still encounter the problem described above?

ok ty..so the price I enter into lead is his initial offer or my counter... I guess either is ok and starting point..

but if u specifically say to confirm it's his offer.

cause I've been entering my counter so far. not his first offer. I thought this would be used as negotiation start.

u really need to make more clear what we should put there. ty

It's better to change minimum price from $100 to $10.

So that people will flood them with $10/$20 liquidation deals. For how much commission?

Dan could charge 9% commission or 9 USD fixed fee, whichever is higher, and the min. price of a domain could be 10 USD on the marketplace.

In case of imported private leads, Dan could charge 5% commission or 5 USD fixed fee, whichever is higher, and the min. price of a domain could be 10 USD.

What is the difference between selling a domain for 100 USD (9 USD commission to Dan), or selling a domain for 10 USD (9 USD commission to Dan)? As you can see, Dan earned the same amount of commission.

Same case with private deals. Currently the min. price for an imported lead is 99 USD, which is not good if you want to purchase a domain from another Namepros member for less than 99 USD. Why can't Dan simply charge a fixed fee of 5 USD in case of domains costing less than 99 USD?

A 9 USD flat rate for every transaction that is $100 dollars and below would work. But there's still no economic sense for those $10 domainer to domainer transactions as the seller would only go home with $1.

If you want to liquidate your domain for 10 USD, then you could sell it for 19 USD, so that in the end you would receive 10 USD. Or in case of an imported lead, you would sell it for 15 USD.

If you are so desperate then you could still sell it for 10 USD and earn 1 USD in the end, better than letting it expire.
