A lot of domain investors also invest in crypto currency it seems as of late. I usually feel pretty confident that a domain I carefully acquire today will be a 10x+ my investment including holding time. If say, I were to buy bitcoin today, is it feasible that i would get 10x my money?

he was probably talking about Bitcoin, because EIP-1559 is happening in July, so it will be the complete opposite

but that would mean he is cryptoidiot..and here too I have feeling it's the other way round.

well as always
...one day will find out :)

More than 95% of the general public does not understand why a domain name should cost more than $100. Just add a few extra letters, another word, a hyphen or two, a number of use one of hundreds of alternatives extensions. They do not understand the value of scarcity, branding or why a domain name can help distinguish their business from competitors. So they spend thousands of dollars on other types of advertising techniques.

What I find odd is that even some high-profile domain investors who understand the concept of scarcity do not understand why bitcoin has value even when supply is limited and the network has many participants. A year ago the entire cryptocurrency market cap was around $200 billion which was surpassed by many individual banks.

the only reason btc has value is because enuf people decide and think so.

once they stop thinking so btc will have no value.

but it's like this 4 domains... picasso..tulips... nft...and most things in life.. except fiat ..where Gov decides... imo good fiat way better than bitcoins..that can make u a millionaire or homeless man within a day or two.

Scarcity can mean value, but it does not automatically mean value.

A lot of things are scarce. Every shit I take is 1 of 1. Should I turn it into an NFT now?

Also, scarcity matters less if you can split something up into unlimited small pieces. There is also artificial vs actual scarcity.

Unlike domains, all crypto is created equal. There is no difference between one bitcoin and another bitcoin.

Domains are all one of a kind, and a quality one can give you a major advantage over competition.

While some will have lasting power, I can't see a world where there are thousands of currencies that are valuable and usable. Even (10) years in Bitcoin is barely usable.

You have currencies like Safemoon which launched a month ago and is quite literally a pyramid scheme with social media "influencers" pumping it.

I prefer a currency that doesn't require an Elon Musk or Mark Cuban tweet pumping it, to move the value. Or a currency, you know, that doesn't destroy the planet with the artificial energy demand it is creating.

smart people will pick good fiat any day all day long.

people live on a dream of the few who crypto made into millionaires... they remain ignorant of the big picture that crypto has made way more people poorer than richer.

Saying ETH will crash the same month EIP-1559 is implemented is nonsense, not even BTC maxis are saying that, only your anonymous friend. I can see from your comments you're a crypto-fudder who has missed the boat.

More than 20% (closer to 30% now) of circulating USD ever created was been created in the last year and a bit. Have fun with that, while everyone from Paypal to Tesla moves with the times.

“Good fiat”? Explain

You cannot have something of value when an infinite amount can be added to the system via a printer. That’s fiat.

People fail to realize what’s happening with crypto. Btc is just as spendable as gold. It doesn’t have to operate like fiat and it shouldn’t.

I could go on and on but it’s not worth the time.

yea I prefer to waste my time elsewhere too.but I cant call something that can make people millionaires or homeless within span of few days an asset.. an investment.
. the only words left are gamble..a casino bet.

so by good fiat I meant the opposite of uncontrollable chaotic volatility.

I dont hate or love btc...or crypto... so unlike most here I can look at it sanely. most here are blinded by some dumb light.

dont get picky with words. u know exactly how it's made millionaires and also ruined lives...with latter in much bigger numbers. different timeframes for each case.

only fools will say it made more people richer than poorer.

You are sadly mistaken. Do you have examples or literature on how btc has ruined more lives than it’s helped?

From all my exposure to crypto I’ve seen that it’s been beneficial to many. The reports actually show that most investors hold long term, which debunks your position.

these are verifiable stats.

for starters only 20 or 30 percent traders make money.

google the rest

but rest assured yer wrong to think more got richer than poorer on bitcoin

and I'm not talking about how its helping africa or india people with no bank accounts buy milk or pay for a cow.

If you’ve managed to lose on bitcoin then you should go work 9-5, investing isn’t for you. I’d quit domains too because more have lost money in this space than you can ever imagine in crypto.
